Okay - so - I plan to buy a 2017 Annual Pass soon. However - I don't want to activate it until sometime between January 5 and February 12, 2017 (exact date still TBD). As long as I BUY it before January 3rd - will I get the 13 months? So - will it work for 13 months from the day I first use it to enter a park?

Anyone know for sure?

Point of clarification:
AP's are not activated by USE.
They are activated by going to a ticket booth or Guest Relations and having the CM activate them.
After that, they start "counting down" regardless of when you first enter a park.

Right - I knew that - but I definitely wasn't clear. Thanks, Robo!

I spoke to someone in the ticket services department this AM on the phone who said it needs to be activated by 1/3 to get the 13th month, but the website says purchase by 1/3 for the promotion. So I don't think anyone knows for sure.
Sigh.... Maybe I'll send an email so I can get an answer in writing? My plane flight prices don't really drop until the 9th of January - the 3rd prices aren't BAD - but I really wanted to be at work for a couple of post holiday break work activities before being gone.....

So much vagueness with this promotion. I tweeted (DM) WDWToday to ask about this. I was very specific, asking if I purchased an AP between now and 1/3/17, but did not activate it until say September 2017 or even January 2018, would I get the 13 months. The response I received:
"Hi there! We would suggest purchasing an Annual Pass voucher. By doing this, you will receive the 13-month promotion but the Annual Pass will not immediately activate. The voucher needs to be activated within 18 months of purchase. Hope this helps!"

Can you link that tweet? Sounds like they are confirming it's PURCHASE, not ACTIVATE. I tried to find Terms & conditions of the promo but couldnt.

Edit: nevermind, just realized you said it was a DM and not a public tweet.

First time I've seen 18 mos. Plenty of talk the last week or so about this and one point brought up was with a special offer like this it would seem there would be an activate deadline .... but then many felt there was none and offer good forever as long as you purchased in that window. Now we hear folks who purchased outside the window but activated in the window are getting 13 mos. Zero clarification.

At least they are consistent .................. more answers than we can count. UGH.

I purchased our vouchers yesterday, and was assured that they were good for 13 months from the date of activation, not the date of purchase. They are of course non refundable

Sadly I believe nothing ......... IF they made to point of stating it MUST be purchased between these dates to get the 13 mos and then they go and give the 13 mos to those who purchased way before those dates ........... and even CMs were saying hold off buying until that time frame so you get the 13 mos, which apparently wasn't true ............. there is no expectation on my part that anything they tell you regarding these tickets is true.

I already have my APs so I will only get the new discounts, DS renews in December so he should get the 13 months. Just another game of telephone with different answers from whoever you ask. Sad.

Right on the DISNEY WEBSITE for this offer, conditions:
"Offer only valid on new annual pass purchases made now through January 3, 2017"
"Offer not valid for ..... passes previously purchased"
Which has already proven to not be true.

If I purchase my Florida Resident Pass they charge me now but it's not activated until I use it the first time?

the 18 months part was in an earlier tweet that came across a day or 2 after the promotion was announced. It was in response to basically the same question. We purchased AP's after the promotion started and the confirmation email I got says "valid for 13 months form the date of activation" at the bottom.

If that's what you ask for.
If you buy it in-person, you can either get an activated AP or ask for an "AP certificate," that would not be activated until
such time as you go to a ticket booth or Guest Relations and activate it.

If you buy on-line, you'll be getting the certificate, ready to be activated at WDW.

I bought my AP online today, (not a FL resident) so I have a voucher that I need to take to a park (will call) to activate it. In the fine print under "Pass Pick UP Information" is states: "Passes are 13 consecutive months, nontransferable and nonrefundable". Since I am not activating until Dec 2016, I assume that it means my pass will be valid through January 2018.

That's what we all hope to be true.
Seems logical.

Disney is trying to take in the money now...
Doesn't seem like they'd care exactly when you use the pass.

I'd say that I'd let you all know when I return, but I'm coming home on 1/3, so that won't work out for you! For me, it actually doesn't matter because our next trip falls within the 12 month period any way. Just interesting to know how they are viewing it.

Yup.
That will likely be true of a lot of other folks, too.

That's what makes this particular promotion not actually "cost" Disney very much to offer.
But, there will likely be a lot of "takers" for the deal based on the "possibility" of getting to use that extra month.

(Works like REBATE coupons.
FAR more people THINK that they'll get the rebate, but MANY never even fill out the coupon and mail it in.)
