2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Hey y'all! Getting so excited for PHM weekend! :jumping1: I'm a Raw Threads club member, and I have a buddy pass available if anyone would like to use it. Just let me know! :wave2:

Just so you know buddy passes are not aval until after 15th if they still have entries left from what I read on email/site

Standard at WDW is 10% BUT this is 45th annv. year and I believe we get 20%. Plus they have discounts on food places and you can buy a Tables in Wonderland card for 100.00 which gets you 20% discount, includes tip at MOST WDW TS INCLUDING Alcohol.

Now I wonder what merch discount WDW APs get at DLR Expos, lol! I also feel spoiled I'm used to the 20% off. The special increase probably won't apply to my DLR pass. So I'll factor the new increased rate under Premier only and 10% under my DLR for Expo. But with a special note that increased rate will end.

My friend's parents have Tables in Wonderland. I don't spend near enough on food to justify it. Especially since I don't drink, haha!

Thanks :)

Animal kingdom lodge :D

We stayed here for wine and dine and jambo had it's own bus to every race. Oh and you got upgraded from CSR because the BC building is getting refurbished. It is unknown whether or not it comes back as BC or not. I'm anxiously awaiting to hear the outcome since we have a reservation for September, I'm hoping get the magical upgrade that you did!

Ok, time for the experts! We're only doing the 5k, costumes are set, etc - but talk to me about the expo (bc I saw scary lines for last week!) Planning to go on Thursday afternoon - I'll be at Epcot, head out the IG to BW or BC and hop a bus. We have ADRs for 1900 at 6pm. We'd like to shop, but if it's insanely busy... I can't see us sticking around. How long does it typically take for packet pick up etc?f

This is actually my first 5k ever! I did the C25K and now am just doing modified intervals to keep at a good pace, running a couple times a week.

@cmarsh31 hard to say, but I think if you go later in the day, the crowds will be smaller. Probably 1.5 hours or so unless you go right at opening, and then it would be a lot longer.

Welp. I'm officially pulling the plug on Princess this year and am going to eat the registration fee.

I was on the fence anyway, and the medals just aren't enough of a pull for me to spend the money or points on a plane flight (personally, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed in seeing them in person ... the half especially). For me, it would be just throwing more good money after bad for my least-favorite RD Weekend of the bunch.

So, good luck to the rest of you Princesses! I hope you have a great race weekend!

Yeah, from yesterday to today the price has gone up $100+ :headache: I wish I'd just booked yesterday!

If you have a Chase credit card, try their travel portal. I booked my car through Chase and it was almost $100 less than through Expedia or any of the companies directly.

So sorry to hear that @Keels!

You are not instilling any confidence in me for the medals, Keels. :rotfl2:

I could not have asked for a better morning to run my 9 miles. It was about 55 and clear with no wind! Sure beat the 8 mile TM run last week.
I not really feeling the half medal either, but I have made it this far and I do think next year will be the end for me....never say never...so time will tell.

Yep! I meant if anyone still had a Princess race that they wanted to sign up for, they can use it for that.

Getting so excited for this race! My dd 15 is running the half and will hopefully get her coast to coast as well. It's her first rundisney event at WDW. Shes running the Star Wars half this weekend as her first leg of the coast to coast.

I do have a few questions. If anyone has advice or words of wisdom I'd appreciate it.

We are staying at Pop. What is the best time to plan on leaving for the bus? I don't want to have to rush and would rather give her extra time to find her way to her corral.

Has anyone done the Cheer Squad? I have done them at Disneyland but because of the vastness of WDW I feel like it will be a completely different experience.

I've signed up for that and was wondering on travel time from start line to Magic Kingdom and then back to finish line. I'd love to be able to see her at those points. My goal is to get her to the corrals and the point where I can't follow her anymore and then head over to the magic kingdom.

Thanks for any advice and good luck to all the runners!

Buses run from 3-4 for the half marathon and she needs to be in her corral by 5:30. There's a good 20-minute or so walk from the staging area (where the buses drop off) to Corrals. It'll be obvious to here where to go since 20K others will be going the same way.

I haven't done ChEAR Squad so can't help with that.

It sounds like you're taking the bus with her? So once she heads to Corrals you won't be able to go any further with her. Then you can get on the monorail (10-minute walk or so for you, volunteers or Cast Members will be happy to point out how to get there) and take that to the Magic Kingdom. You'll have a bit of a wait for her so I'd suggest signing up for runner tracking. She won't be getting to MK until mile 5/6. Being snacks/cash to buy snacks for yourself.

After you see her at MK you can hop back on the monorail back to Epcot to see the finish. :)

You are my hero!! I just went to look at it was $70 less than what I had been finding everywhere else, and I was able to use rewards points so it was freeee! :yay: Thanks again for the tip!

Yay! I used points to book my car for Princess, too. Cheers to free cars! :car: (Hope you don't get stuck with a minivan. o_O)
