2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Talked to my daughter yesterday and she wants to do the GSC again in 2017. So now have to wait to sign up and see what the theme will be. We will be dressing up again. :lmao:

Can't wait. We had so much fun 3 months ago.

LOL....I thought I ran ugly too...

I think a lot of it is the angle that MarathonFoto takes them. Shooting up at anyone will instantly add like 10 pounds and you're just awkward when you run. The last six half marathons through Rock n Roll made me so upset because I look at the pictures and I'm just... terrible looking. But at the finishline I look normal. Photopass people at Disney just take better photos!

It's good to know others had this train of thought. :rotfl:

Awesome! I don't think I look great when I run, but since this will be my first Disney race, I kind of want some pictures! Glad to know there are so many options :)

Definitely! They're stationed so well and you can definitely see them on the course. The finishline produced at least 20 each of my husband and I and they're all perfect.

I had great ones and some REALLY no-so-great ones, but I agree that the great ones are a ton better than anything MarathonFoto ever did. I'm really impressed.

DIS is telling me they are too big. I'll post some when I get home.
This is the message I get all the time. Did you figure out how to resolve it. I keep having to email my photos to myself before I can post anything, but then the pictures end up just as thumbnails, and it is such a tedious process it makes me not want to finish my TR. I would really like to understand how to post photos here and have them look normal. LOL!

I had more than 50 photos to choose from and they all looked great!
This is so fantastic to hear! Are you AP, so you got them for free? Or did you buy memory maker? Or just pay for the ones you like? OR can you download for free, but have to pay if you want a hard copy? Just trying to figure out if I'll need MM for my November W&D trip.

That's some serious hang time :)
It's Disney Magic!

They only seem to post if I've made them into squares for Instagram. Annoying!

And I know you weren't asking me, but I got the photos free because I have a Premier Annual Pass. REALLY nice bonus. I'm not planning on renewing it ($$$) but I will be getting a WDW Annual Pass, so I'm looking forward to getting them at Princess.

Like @Ariel484 I have a Premier pass and I can download them for free. I'm heading back to Disneyland this weekend to get a Tinkerbell Medals picture with the actual character (sans line) and to print out the photos in hard copy. I think the cost is minimal - like $2 for a 4x6 and $7 for an 8x10. I wanted one of the 8x10's!

Hi everyone-hope it's ok that I join. I'm very new to run Disney (and running, to be honest) BUT a friend convinced me this was a good idea so I am offifically training for the Princess Half (I'm a whole week in :P) If it's not looking good by July, maybe the 10k instead...

I've had a hard time googling and searching, so can someone help me with Proof of Time? Do I need it at registration time? I definitely won't be able to do a 10k by July, but I'm hoping to do one in late August or October. Can I still register? The website looks like I can have it in by Nov 15, but I wasn't sure if that was just the last day to register. I assume spots are filled by then. Thanks in advance!

I'm planning on going back and reading the whole thread, but no time right now!

@alicat8 welcome!!

You don't need Proof of Time at registration. You'll need to create an Active.com account to register - at some point between registration and the due date (November 15 or whatever you said) you can log into your account and update your time. :)

So I've talked my sister into doing the half with me for Princess weekend! I'm so thrilled because of the 4 RunDisney races I've done in the past, I've always been solo. It'll be fantastic to have a running buddy! I do think that I'm gonna try to sign up for the GSC though...it'll be my first Disney challenge and I'm so excited...but I have serious anxiety about registration for some reason! Lol!

Any idea when and how the theme is usually released? I'm excited to start thinking about costumes!

Last year they put out a "registration tips" post on Instagram that revealed the Little Mermaid theme, so I'm hoping they'll do the same this year. The strong rumor right now is that 2017 will be Snow White.

It is very much a theory, but it's possible!

This is my first post ever on the Disboards, but I wanted to say thank you. I've read all 18 pages and have found it very helpful. I'm new to all of this. I've always wanted to do a race at Disney, even if I'm not a runner, and next year seems perfect. I'm a new Mum so I'm using the training to help me get back in shape and mentally relax. I'm hoping to do the 5K.
My one question is - I'm going to be running by myself which causes me some anxiety already, but I really wanted my Mum to see me at the finish line... would that be possible? Do people do that? I know a 5K isn't a huge deal for most but for me, this is kinda like my everest at the moment....

@Lionessrampant welcome!!

First of all, a 5K IS a huge deal. :) That is a great goal you have set for yourself!

The 5Ks aren't great for spectating, but the nice thing is that your mom can see you at the start AND finish pretty easily. It would probably be easiest if she took the bus to the starting area with you the morning of the race. Eventually you'll get to the corrals, which are runners only, but she can hang out with you before then. The start and finish lines are very close together - within walking distance - so she could watch the start and then head over to the grandstands at the finish area, take a seat and wait for you to complete your race.

Nice work! Good luck!

Hey everyone! Just jumping in on the conversation here. I'm planning on doing the Princess Half this coming year. I've ran a couple of halfs before and highly enjoy them. I can't seem to get myself to train for a full though.

Now the fun part.. I am trying to convince my husband to come and watch. He's never been to Disney before and really doesn't have a desire to. Anyone got any ideas on how to convince him? He keeps saying we will go in a few years once we have children and they are old enough to experience it. Me on the other hand, who has their 17th trip planned for September, can't wait that long.
