I just realized the 2016 Olympics will be occurring at the same time as my Alaska cruise this summer. Where can we watch? Will there be special events on ship because of the olympics??

I was on the magic repo during the 2008 summer olympics. I don't remember anything special for the olympics.

I was on the Magic from NY-Canada during the 2012 olympics. I don't remember anything special (it was a 5-night btw)

There may be Olympic updates in the sports bar. Not full event coverage, but news breaks. But, if like in the past, no special events.

We were on the Disney Fantasy for back to back cruises early August 2012 when the London Olympics were on.

We had a newspaper delivered each morning with a summary of all of the results.

O'Gills had it on TV all the time, and had some themed games.

Set the DVR at home and avoid the coverage! (our 2012 Olympics was mainly watched in winter going into 2013 because DH was traveling all the time and we wanted to watch it together)

my last cruise, they had football/basketball games on at o'finns I think it was..the irish sports pub/bar. So I'd guess they will def be having the more popular sports (soccer/basketball) I'd like to watch the power lifting events but those probably wont be shown.

It's funny I realized this about two weeks ago so we shall find out in August :)

Well for the cruise you must be provided with the WiFi and you can watch online live Rio Olympics 2016. But one issue arises is the unrestricted broadcast of all the events. Well also don't worry for that. Just read that out you will definitely find a good result for this issue :)

We asked this the other day.
Disney don't have the rights to the olympics, so while there might be some coverage through the sports channels there's no guarenteed coverage and so far nothing's been navigated...

(You're probably sailing now, as this is an old post), but we just got off the Fantasy on Saturday and they showed some of the preliminary soccer games at O'Gills and the Opening Ceremonies on the stateroom TV, Funnel Vision, and O'Gills (though they turned the sound off when it was trivia time).

Off the Dream today, and it might be moot, BUT we had coverage on ESPN. It was an international team of reporters and we saw more people from other teams but we at least felt in the loop a bit.

We were in Alaska during the NBA playoffs this year and the games were streamed in to the bars via Satellite, maybe they will do the same for the Olympics.
