2016 January Check-in Thread

The new Hyperspace Mt is so cool! Especially if you like Star Wars. I would have considered myself a mild fan before The Force Awakens, but now that I've seen it and LOVE it, I consider myself a big fan. So I'm loving the whole Season of the Force stuff. Saw these BB8 sippers and HAD TO HAVE THEM (you can get them at Pizza Port).

We loved seeing Aladdin one more time; it was the best one we've seen and everyone was into it (I'm sure knowing it was almost gone). The Blue Bayou dinner and F! and fireworks from there right after were all amazing and we loved every bit of it.

Hated the rain today. I thought it wouldn't be as bad as yesterday (we went into DTD after it calmed down) but it was. Our ponchos were fine, but there was SO MUCH water including puddles everywhere so we were drenched from the knees down. It's no fun when your feet are wet and cold. We got a couple of good hours in first thing in the morning, but suffered the rest of our time in the parks today despite a long break from 1-7pm. So I added ANOTHER day to our hotel reservation and we will skip tomorrow and our last day in the parks will be Friday (weather forecast has no rain for Friday at this point).

Oh! Another thing we LOVED... Olaf's Snow Fest! It was like a mini Arendelle in there! We loved it and got warm hugs from Olaf too.

Tomorrow we will enjoy another relaxing rest day and maybe do "Minnie manicures" (I brought red nail polish as well as white for polka dots). :)

Those BB8 sippers were so cute! We didn't get any, but did get two light-up death stars that came with a drink from Galactic Grill. DH kept looking at the long lines for the BB8 sippers and figured they cleared at least $1000/hr at those carts. They were really popular, despite the $16 price and no-free-refill policy.

BTW, love your scrapbooking pages. I'm dabble a bit and followed your pinterest page to the links for Disney pocket scrapping supplies.

Aw, thanks! I love love love scrapbooking (I used to do paper, but now I do digital and love it even more) and I can not wait to start scrapping this trip when I get home!

We paid $13.95 for the BB8 sippers at Pizza Port, and while it's more than I think they should be, I couldn't NOT get them. They're so cute! ;)

Hmm, I could have sworn they were $16 at the cart. Maybe I looked at price incorrectly or it's cheaper at Pizza Port?

Mommylove you guys sure look like you are having a blast! I might have to go get that BB8 sipper for my son.

We leave early Saturday morning and I am stressing out at this point. Not sure what to pack for the weather. I have a waterproof jacket but can't decide if I should go get waterproof pants. At this point we only have the Saturday with lots of rain predicted. My dh said I'll sound funny walking around with the waterproof pants but I'm not sure I care!

I say bring them if there is any chance of rain. My teen son was horrified at the thought of wearing rain pants but once it started raining yesterday and the seats of everything was wet, he was so glad he had them. We all were! It was nice having them between rain showers. Low chance of rain today, but we have them in our locker just in case. We called them our sexy pants all day. :)

Accuweather.com says there will be "a bit of afternoon rain" on Saturday, the greatest chance occurring between 12 and 3PM. I would not bring waterproof pants personally, but instead bring an extra pair of regular pants to change into when you check into your hotel or keep them in your car. We will be there Saturday, too, and have been there many times with rain. It's good to have something handy, but in my experience waterproof pants are pretty restrictive and unless it's pouring, completely unnecessary.

My airline just contacted me today and said that my return flight has been cancelled! At first I panicked. Now we have to stay over an extra night...doesn't seem fair that we have to pay another night for a hotel and another day of food. We can't afford to add a 1 day park ticket for all four of us. So I think that instead of going to the park on the afternoon of our arrival day, we'll just do Downtown Disney that day, and save our fifth day for the extra day that we will now be there. Change in travel plans is stressful, but I think it might just work out better in the end! 5 full days in Disneyland. :) Now we leave Jan. 8th, until the 14th. It's so hard not telling my kids - like the above poster, they'll find out on Christmas Day! Crossing my fingers so hard for good weather so that the nighttime shows aren't cancelled! :)
What airline did this? Curious because we will be flying on southwest for 1st time as family.

I just got a reality check today – we have PTN package booked at BB (2 adults, 1 child) and with our Canadian dollar doing so poorly against the US dollar I just calculated that the package would end up costing us $220 CDN :scared1:

PTN package for AO would only be about $90 – food isn’t as great as BB though

It is the reserved seating I am really after, I don’t want to camp out for a place to sit and we haven’t seen the parade yet and I have heard such good reviews I’m really excited to see it.

Just changed our Napa Rose reservation next Sunday for the Chef's Counter! We'll be sitting at the dessert counter, so I'm very excited! What a wonderful way to celebrate our birthdays and the end of race weekend. :)

Leave for DLR on Thursday evening!

My husband & I are doing the Chef's Counter as well on Sunday! Enjoy!

We are on our third day at the parks just waiting for Disneyland to open. There have been some ups and downs including getting rear ended the first day for even so we are having g a good time!

leaving tomorrow morning -- at the airport for 6am!!
stress of packing is starting to set in and making sure I have everything!

Star Wars 5K - Jan 13 - 19th!
Man, so much is closed....

It kinda always is in January. Part of the downside to "off season". We took a trip in November just so we could see Aladdin, ride the Rail Road and Mark Twain and I'm still gonna miss all 3 of those this trip. But theres still plenty to see and do and ride and I know we wont get to all of it!

My trip was last week and 2 of our days it rained all day. We all had waterproof jackets/pants/shoes and we were so glad we did! I highly recommended them to anyone going during a rainy period. We didn't have to worry about where we sat or anything because our pants protected us. Our jackets/pants were thin and lightweight (Paradox brand) and I didn't mind having them on at all (no swishing sounds!). We wore them over jeans. Here's an example of them - http://www.amazon.com/Paradox-Womens-Rain-Suit/dp/B00LJHT0PE. I ended up buying them separately on ebay.

Got back yesterday. Weather was mild, almost chilly to my thin southern blood (it was in the low 50s when we'd start out and warm up to mid 60s), but no rain! We managed to see Aladdin on Friday and boy are we glad we did! The line on Sunday for the fastpasses stretched from the theatre to the park entrance, back again, and then through the Monsters Inc area. We also did the Davy Crockett canoes and Sailing Ship Columbia, and then Fantasmic on Saturday, so we're grateful we had a chance to see everything. Man the crowds though. Touringplans had originally predicted about a 2-5 for crowd levels, and every night we'd check back at the hotel and see it was really a 7-8.

We ended up staying at the Fairfield Inn on Harbor Blvd, and I LOVED the location. So nice to be able to walk back every night and not have to fight crowds on a bus or in the parking lot.

Flight from SFO was 2 hours delayed but we finally made it (BWPPI for 2 nights before the DL Hotel for 2). Time for bed before our early morning. :)
