We got back from our trip a few days ago! It was full of many wonderful, magical and happy moments, and also some sad and stressful ones. My son was sick our first weekend there - not feeling well, just not himself. On the third day, he seemed to be feeling better, but he was still pretty unhappy, and I started to realize that it wasn't just his cold, but he was also likely affected by the noise, crowds, etc. (he has some special needs). I went to City Hall to ask for a stroller as a wheelchair tag, and the very kind Cast Member convinced me to get a
DAS, too. It helped so much. But then on Monday, he woke up not able to walk properly! We were baffled - blister, tired legs, stretched muscles? We rented a stroller again, thinking it would go away, but it didn't, so I ended up having to take him to the Children's Hospital Emergency. We were there until midnight - it was so busy - and the doctors did lots of tests and eventually diagnosed him with myositis - an inflammation of his leg muscles due to an earlier virus. They said he would have trouble walking for the next three days. My poor boy - this trip was supposed to be a celebration of his long-awaited adoption! We ended up rented a wheelchair (I couldn't carry him all the way from the hotel to the stroller rental booth at
Disneyland), which he used the rest of the trip. But we all made the best of it, and we went on lots of rides, and met lots of characters (Cinderella especially was super sweet to him), saw the fireworks, Fantasmic! before it closed, all the parades...lots of memories that will last forever. I wish it wasn't over...
