2016 January Check-in Thread

We just got our first snow and now ice on top of it so No school tomorrow. It is not fair when that happens at the end of the 2 week Christmas Break.

Our fist three days have been so wonderful!! Taking a break today (good thing since it's been pouring down rain almost all of today so far). We're still relaxing in the hotel room and will head to Downtown Disney soon. Back into the parks tomorrow and Thursday. :)

What an awesome picture! Glad you are having a good time :)

We leave in 2 days! I can't believe it! Here's what we're (me, my mom, two kids 6 & 7) thinking so far:

Friday - arrive in Anaheim, bus to Best Western, settle into hotel, then Downtown Disney. Dinner at Storyteller's Café.
Saturday - Disneyland! Breakfast at Carnation. Ride the railroad. Ride Autopia. Meet the fairies. Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Winnie the Pooh. Maybe Thunder Mountain and Big Thunder Ranch petting zoo. Dinner at Blue Bayou and then Fantasmic!
Sunday - Disney California Adventure! Meet Elsa and Anna. Frozen Sing-Along. Cars Land and ride Radiator Springs Racers. Bugs Land. Maybe see Aladdin. Back over to Disneyland to watch Paint the Night and Disneyland Forever fireworks!
Monday - Disneyland. Fantasyland! Toontown! Mickey and the Magical Map. Hoping for a quieter day, crowd-wise. Maybe watch Paint the Night and fireworks again!
Tuesday - Disneyland for Magic Morning - ride Star Tours and not sure what else. Back over to California Adventure. Paradise Pier rides. Pixar Play parade. Maybe back to Disneyland for the fireworks again at 6:00 - nice and early!
Wednesday - Disneyland. Whatever we feel like doing! One more chance for fireworks!
Thursday - last day - no parks. Downtown Disney. Maybe Elsa and Anna boutique. Maybe a character breakfast. Back home - boo hoo.

Sound good to you?

I leave tomorrow!!!!! There's definitely excitement, but I'm also swamped at work so trying to sift through the pile the best I can. No snow in Boston forecasted, or here, so looking like the flights will go smoothly!

Your rides look great!

Make sure you go get FP for RSR when the park opens. Have someone run for them while the rest get in line for Anna and Elsa.

Also on early entry day if you head right to Peterpan there is minimal wait. And have someone run to get FP for BTMRR when park opens Fantasyland is close by. So rest could do some quick rides.

Post Disney-trip here. While we had a fun time, it was tempered by the fact that my younger daughter got food poisoning and didn't go into the park on our third day. We think she got it during our off day in San Diego. DH and her stayed at the hotel while DD1 and I went into the parks in the afternoon/evening. I inquired at City Hall I to see if there was anything that could be done since DD2 and DH weren't using the 3rd day on their tickets. They gave me complimentary one-day park hopper passes for DH & DD2 that expire within two years. So Disney 2017, here we come!

We definitely got our fill of Star Wars/Season of Force. We were able to ride Star Tour multiple times. Rode Hyperspace Mountain several times as well. Got to meet Chewbaca and Darth Vader as well. Saw Aladdin for the last time. Since DD2 is not a fan of fast rides, we made use of rider-switch passes to ride HSM and ToT. However, we got her to ride Big Thunder RRM and she loved it! Wanted to ride it multiple times! BTRRM was DD1's gateway toward a love of roller coasters, so there is still hope for DD2, lol.

Only DD1 and I got to ride Soarin' over California on our last day, sadly, as that is one of DD2's favorite rides.

We were there Dec 31, Jan 1 and Jan 3. Jan 1 was the lightest in terms of crowds, followed by Jan 3, then Dec 31. The day that DD1 and I went in alone, we made use of single rider to ride Screamin' and RSR. We rode TSMM several times during WOC (wait was only 10 mins!). The craziest part was trying to exit the parks after we watched PTN and Fantasmic. If we can avoid doing that in the future, we will! Hopefully it'll be easier to stay later as DD2 will be older and should be able to stay up later.

Thanks for giving us some highlights. I am sad your DD2 was sick but nice to have tickets for another time.

The new Hyperspace Mt is so cool! Especially if you like Star Wars. I would have considered myself a mild fan before The Force Awakens, but now that I've seen it and LOVE it, I consider myself a big fan. So I'm loving the whole Season of the Force stuff. Saw these BB8 sippers and HAD TO HAVE THEM (you can get them at Pizza Port).

We loved seeing Aladdin one more time; it was the best one we've seen and everyone was into it (I'm sure knowing it was almost gone). The Blue Bayou dinner and F! and fireworks from there right after were all amazing and we loved every bit of it.

Hated the rain today. I thought it wouldn't be as bad as yesterday (we went into DTD after it calmed down) but it was. Our ponchos were fine, but there was SO MUCH water including puddles everywhere so we were drenched from the knees down. It's no fun when your feet are wet and cold. We got a couple of good hours in first thing in the morning, but suffered the rest of our time in the parks today despite a long break from 1-7pm. So I added ANOTHER day to our hotel reservation and we will skip tomorrow and our last day in the parks will be Friday (weather forecast has no rain for Friday at this point).

Oh! Another thing we LOVED... Olaf's Snow Fest! It was like a mini Arendelle in there! We loved it and got warm hugs from Olaf too.

Tomorrow we will enjoy another relaxing rest day and maybe do "Minnie manicures" (I brought red nail polish as well as white for polka dots). :)

Mommylove you guys sure look like you are having a blast! I might have to go get that BB8 sipper for my son.

We leave early Saturday morning and I am stressing out at this point. Not sure what to pack for the weather. I have a waterproof jacket but can't decide if I should go get waterproof pants. At this point we only have the Saturday with lots of rain predicted. My dh said I'll sound funny walking around with the waterproof pants but I'm not sure I care!

I saw people with plastic pants as well as waterproof footwear and I was envious of them! If I ever have to be at DL in the rain again, you can bet we will be much better prepared and it will include waterproofing from the knees down!

Continuing on with things we loved... We loved the new effects and yetis in the Matterhorn! Reminder; the left side track is more fun but more bumpy/jerky while the right side track is relatively more smooth.

Don't miss the new (to us) dioramas in the store windows in Main Street!
