Been doing this a long time, flame ears have been started over this topic , so lets not start another one.

Fact is there are people in this forum who get ticked off because they know people pre book , because they feel it lessens the chance for FD for everyone else...

COMPLETELY AGREE! I got SCOLDED by a member, who shall not be named, for pre-booking my trip. I just know I want my certain resort and didn't want to miss out. I missed out on Animal Kingdom Lodge for this trip because I waited a little bit and I wasn't going to miss out on Coronado Springs.

For those who are going anyway--WHY?? are you following this board????

I want Free Dining and I will not Book ahead of time expecting to add it on later, For those who do book ahead, there is NO guarantee that you will get any discounts if you book early.
It will only lesson the chance for Disney to have rooms or resorts available because they are all booked up and there is no need to offer them.

Because I have every right to plan my vacation any which way I want to. Your bitter expectations for others to NOT book just because you choose to plan your trip differently are preposterous. I don't plan my vacation around your need for Free Dining. Get your expectations in order, the world doesn't revolve around you.

So, your saying all of us that are booked should leave this board........I'm booked. Have always booked ahead of time because I do Disney with whatever promo I can get. I also do it debt free. I book and pay down the balance! I am very interested in free dining.

Just because we are going regardless doesn't mean I wouldn't like to save $1300!

I will admit that I have free dining from a BB from last year, but I like to join and follow this board because I enjoy that anticipation of the big announcement just like everybody else. I get to see and feel what they are going through. Went through it last year and I feel a kin ship.

Long time lurking, first time posting here.

Thanks everyone for all of the great info! Currently planning a surprise trip for
Wife, G(8), B(14 mo.) for Dec. '16. Impatiently waiting for FD like everyone else. Got my DV in the mail a few weeks ago so hopefully that will help my chances.

Wife has no idea I'm doing this. Our last vacation was about 3 years ago to WDW for a week with our then-5y.o. daughter and we had a blast! Wife has been dropping subtleties that we are due for another vacation soon. I figure she has given me a healthy baby boy since then so she's definitely earned it. I'm going to wait and surprise her and the kids about 2 weeks before we leave.

***question to any/all wives and moms out there***:
Would you appreciate being surprised only 2-weeks before a vacation? Or would it be more of a stress-inducing situation? She is self employed and getting time off from work is not an issue for her. I am secretly handling everything from calling her clients and rescheduling them for before or after we are away, got the DV without telling her because I don't want to raise suspicions, booking and planning resort, 180 day ADR, 60 day fast pass, packing lists, dog sitter, etc.

Thanks for reading.

Im doing a surprise trip for my Hubby! he has no idea I have been saving for years to do something special for him! I included my best friend in on it so she know but I will be telling him most likely a few hours before we leave lol plan to film it too, wish I was surprised with a trip! lol It's very hard to pull one over on me though as I find out everything lol. But She will love it!

I've seen no one telling those who are going regardless not to book. If you are going regardless.. Of course book early.
Its a fact..pre booking if you can only go if FD is offered is not beneficial at all....period.
Yes, I absolutely agree with you. I was just pointing out that there is always a lot of talk on boards about "not booking", "don't book!" "it can mess promo chances up". I appreciate the clarification. :)

I was looking on the Disney Visa website and reading through the perks and rewards. Nowhere does it indicate advance access to promotions. Not sure if this was ever listed as a perk or if it was just an added bonus or maybe they've decided to completely stop this practice. I have a feeling that it will be for everyone on Monday.

Also I agree with prebooking to get the room you want. My trip is planned for 2 weeks and it can be hard to get a room for 14 days at the resort and room category you want because of people booking up weekends. There could be FD offered for rooms every night of your stay but if you can't find a room open for 2 weeks you're out of luck. And I do need free dining but willing to take that chance to get the room I want.

Doesn't mean you will get a Discount, I go debt free also, but I kept it in my Bank until the Promo comes out and pay then, still Debt free.

Well, I am booked and I am going regardless, but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't or can't be interested in a FD promo (and the board that discusses its release) that I can modify to my reservation, right?

I think the problem is with people booking three different rooms or more to get the room they want and then dumping once they get the free dining. I think that is what the main gripe is.

I was booked ahead of time last year and still was able to modify online when the FD promo was announced thanks to the 2015 FD thread watch. It saved me 1500 or something crazy like that.

UGH!! So, will the US be the same as the UK??? Only a free breakfast if we stay at AofA? :guilty:

Does Crystal Palace offer bacon, sausage, potatoes, and that sort of thing for breakfast? Their menu doesn't specify exactly what is on their breakfast buffet. My son is allergic to eggs so breakfast is not usually a good TS meal for him unless there are meats and potatoes offered. Thanks, and sorry to be:offtopic: (thought I'd break up the tension in the room :goodvibes)

I think everyone that is already booked is aware it doesn't increase our chances at any promotion. For me, we need a room that can sleep 5 people. We will need that room regardless of FD. I didn't want to wait and have all the rooms that sleep 5 be booked and then have to stay at a resort we don't want, just because I wanted FD. Now, don't get me wrong... I do want FD. If not we will pay oop and have to cancel a lot of ADRs, but the room was more important to me than anything else.

Ok, well..this thread is taking a turn. :goodvibes

Anyways, the UK offer shows the changes coming to the 2017 dining plan so I guess I better enjoy my desserts this year with my QS meals! I'm hoping that the 1 breakfast thing for values never makes its way to the US offers.
But it looks like QS plan loses 2 desserts and adds 1 snack
Regular Dining loses 1 dessert and adds 1 snack
