Just announced the 2016 member cruise will be a 4-night from NYC beginning September 28th with one port stop in Halifax. Booking opens November 15th.

Looked at the point charts, yikes! We did the Bahamas one this year, but think we'll pass on next year. We are in Canada, so it doesn't make sense to pay for a trip in US currency when we can go to Halifax on our own without a crazy exchange rate!

We're thrilled and we'll be booking right away! We've been wanting to do a member cruise and, living in NYC it's only natural that we do this one! Plus, next year we're celebrating big birthdays for both of us and our 5th anniversary and this lines up perfectly with our already planned DLP trip! So excited!

We booked the regular NY/Canada cruise, and were planning to book this if the rumors were true. But the same room comes with a difference of cost of almost $1,000, and it's a day shorter. We will probably stay with what we have booked...

I would like to go I always found that using cash instead of DVC points for a cruise is a better value. Unless of course you have an excess of points or have been putting aside your points specifically for a cruise.

Glad I came on here, I missed the Fb post of the announcement! We have done 2 member cruises so far, though they are a little more expensive and use more points, it is a lot of fun. I would love to cruise from NY, and we wouldn't have to get airfare so that would be a plus. I have to think about this though, was hoping for a tropical member cruise!

Still on my list. Would love to do this someday and appreciate they change it up a bit. Would have loved to cruise out of NYC - our plans for 2016 are pretty much set. Too close to two other bookings. (Not including a cruise and WDW in May also).

I chatted with a CM yesterday since I noticed it did not say that gratuities were included. She could not get an answer, said it would be known before booking.

Always tempted, because the Member Cruise is a lot of fun. But one day less, $1,000 more, and then like keaster we have the privilege of adding another 30% to the cost. For our favourite 9B on Deck 2 it would work out to just short of $4,500 U.S. -- or $6,000 Canadian. Not gonna happen, I'm afraid.

Got my DVC Member Cruise invite in the mail today, followed by the email. Sadly, too expensive for me. I'm sure Canada is beautiful at this time of year, but not for $1500 minimum!!!

It says the $1500 pp is based on double occupancy. Do I assume that if I go solo, I'd probably pay at least $3000? If so, $3000 for a 4 day trip is definitely too expensive for me.

Yes. Single travelers pay the double occupancy rate ($3000 minimum)

That's crazy -sure if I had money to burn then it's fine. But I can get two flights to Europe and stay 10-days for $4,000 ...for a day in Halifax and a couple days on a boat? Nothing against Nova Scotia, as it's on my to do list ...as is a cruise in the near future, but not this one.

Hi. I just noticed this announcement on the DVC website. I also see points charts, but not cash amounts. Anyone know how much in $$ the cost is for this cruise? I didn't look at Disney Cruiselines.com so i may be missing it. thanks

The cash prices are next to the point costs. From $1543 pp, minimum pay for 2 adults in a room....I tried to copy, but couldn't.

I have a trip to London in two weeks. The cost for air and week stay came to $1490!! Granted, no food costs in there, but still!!!

Living outside of Boston, I also thought the 4 day member cruise would be great way to "try out" Disney cause we have cruised before on Norwegian and would like to compare the two. At least that was until I looked at the fares...you gotta be kiddin me !!!

Our close friends are frequent cruisers but have never been on Disney and now I know why. An outside verandah room would be over $500 per night per person or $1000 per night for the DW and I. If I even thought of booking anything for $1000 a night, the DW would have me committed for observation...and I would probably agree with her. ...and it's not like you can sit outside and sun bathe while at sea...this is late Sept in New England folks...highs during the days may hit 60 but probably be in the 50's.

I just don't get it...who other than "the Donald" or Bill and Melinda would pay over $1000 a night for a cruise.

My sentiments exactly!
