2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

One last Disney shift until I'm home free for the weekend! I've got to fit in a few hours at the other job but I've worked that around when I'll be at the expo. So excited that it's all real!

If anyone is in the parks tomorrow night, just another reminder to stop by Tower of Terror with your runDisney gear. I'd love to see you!

Chiomaca - thanks for the suggestions. I think we will stick with the family meet area. My DD is neurologically compromised, but, she does really good if she knows what she is doing. Adding the Mile 12 thing would confuse the issue. Last year, I made her stay in the hotel room the entire time. We are trying something different this year. I sent her 2000 miles away to school - I have no idea why I worry...lol!
Because you're the mom. I'm 43, have commanded a warship in the Persian Gulf, and yet my mom still worries about me. It's part of the job description.

1. How do the Disney photos taken on course work? Is it PhotoPass or something different?
It's MarathonFoto. They have a booth at the Expo, if you think you're going to want pictures, buy the package in advance. It's not cheap, but it's less expensive than the package after the fact.

3. Will the Jeff Galloway run-walk-run vibrating timer be available for purchase at the Expo?
You can check, but you might want to have a back up available. I think you can buy a Gym Boss or something similar in most athletic stores. Alternately, if you run with your phone/iPod, then you can use an app for your timing. I usually use the coaching feature in MapMyRun for intervals.

My costume is all sewn up! Well, it's wearable if I wear my own shorts under the skirt. I haven't decided if I'm going to attach shorts or not, so that's the last bit to be done tonight.

I use RunKeeper for my intervals, but I think I'm going to ignore them for the first few miles... until we exit the parks for good, although it looks like we run outside of the park for the first mile? I figure in the parks, it might be slow going anyways and I can just wing it, plus I want to see the park atmosphere so I won't have my headphones in for that stretch to hear the alerts. But once we get out on the streets, those headphones are going in and my music is going on. :D

Has there been anything from Disney about merch that will be at the expo? I can't find anything and it seems like there's been pictures and such well before the other races. :(

Like Kim said.....yes everyone is welcome !!!!
We're also wearing light blue ribbons on our wrists so we can recognize each other this weekend. See you at the meet.

Not sure if you're on the road yet, but have a safe and exciting drive!! Hope there's not too much traffic in LA or Anaheim.

Yup, 1st mile is outside the parks, but it's along the backsides so you still kinda have the park environment or at least I think so. And after the parks, we have DTD and starting at the DL Hotel all the way down the parking lot we have the Red Hat Ladies who are so incredibly awesome. But after we leave the parks, it's kinda quiet until we hit downtown Anaheim and we even hit a "Quiet Zone" where it's residential and they have Quiet Zone signs. But that part is actually kinda funny.

I haven't seen anything other than the shoes and in a fb group someone posted a pic of the race shirts. Just checked fb and Disney parks blog and nothing but disney bounding for Tink and Salads from Coast to Coast. Hoping for something this afternoon, but really don't have any high hopes. They've been really bad this year and from what I've heard from friends even worse last weekend at EE.

Thanks for sharing!

Blah. The 10K shirt is a bad color or anything, but I definitely prefer the half and the challenge (which I'm not doing). Actually looking at it again it's a good color.

At least the pinkish challenge shirt should look okay for my husband. He can't normally rock the pink shades although he does try. I think this one may work for him.

Hi There.
I have a couple questions and I can't figure out how to search this awesome thread...so, sorry if these have been asked/answered before.
1. How do the Disney photos taken on course work? Is it PhotoPass or something different?
The photogs on the course are a company contracted through rD, not photo pass. They're at various parts through the course and then a day or 2 later, you should get an email and can go online to check out the pics to order. My mind is blanking right now, but the company might be marathon photo; they're at a lot of races I just can't remember right now for sure. Heads up though, they're kinda pricey, a lot of people also run w/ their phone or something and do run by selfies w/ characters ~ it'll be cheaper and faster. ;)

We bought the MarathonFoto discounted package in January for the Dopey. It was something like $100 credit for $60 spent. The Full Dopey package which consists of all photos from All races was $119. So after the discounted rate at the Expo, it was an additional $20. Which was worth it for 4 races.

They will probably do a similar package arrangement.

There will be more stuff at the expo then what's shown. Which is a problem when I've fallen in love with that blue jacket.

ETA: Never mind 15 minutes late but there it is.

Just got home from the Expo :) Ducked in real quick for merchandise (aka I was there at 6am so I could be in the first group let in) and to pick up my packet before work. So excited it's really here.

I am a little nervous about the meet up being at Tangaroa Terrace on Saturday, if anyone was planning to go to the Facebook meet up at the picnic area at 3:30 - with the premiere how much of a hassle will it be to get from point A to point B?

I hate to bring this up so late, but would anyone be OK with moving it? Maybe to the flower fountain just outside the bag check area by the Mickey & Friends tram stop?

Good luck to all who are running this weekend!

PSA- stay alert and watch your footing, especially at the start and in the parks. The course will be crowded, the lighting can be dim and the terrain uneven. I've seen runners injure themselves on road lane markers, train tracks and curbs. Also, look around you before cutting across the course. Two runners collided in front of it's a small world during the Star Wars 10K in January and one of them ended up with multiple broken bones and teeth.

Be careful and have fun!

Good idea considering the premier. I'm just concerned people are not cking in for updates. Just let us know.
Is the flower fountain the loud one that shoots up sometimes ? Near the bakery?

I am a worry wort, lol. And you're right. We can't guarantee everyone will check the thread so let's just stick with the original plan. There has to be a way to get to the Parks from the Disneyland Hotel so we should be fine. It might just take longer, lol.
