2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

My DH and DS are running the 5k, I'm not worried about walking them to start if race, but I wanted to be at the finish. I see the finish is inside of DCA, so how do I meet them???

As kim3339 mentioned, spectators are allowed into DCA to stand along part of the route and at the finish line for free. You should be able to find them after the race once they make it past the volunteers handing out medals (which is how my mom's friend found my mom and I after the 5k in 2013). Alternatively, you can choose another meeting spot outside of the park (such as the bag check) and a specific time based on their estimated finishing time. Holding a poster or some other easily recognizable item also seems to do the trick because they will know what to look for in the crowd. If you have a spot along the route to cheer them on, you could get their attention while they are running, and then just stay put and have them come to you once they're done (my mom's friend did that for the 1/2 last year).

This is Week 1 for my training for the 10k (decided to start the 10k plan a week early). Only 18 weeks to go until the race weekend! :cool1:

the only date blocked previously was may 9 (sat) -- b/c we booked our flights based on getting into the parks on both sundays esp mothers day since we have been for the past two years on our APs

They already fixed the errors on the calendar!!

thank goodness they dates for deluxe AP changed back to what they were!
has anyone bought the 3 day park passes that are offered to those registered for the run and their families?
does anyone know how much they are?

If you prepurchase them, there's a cutoff date, they're $200. They'll have them at the expo too, but I think it's $5-10 more though, but still savings. They have theur booth downstairs where you get your bibs, but if you're wanting to gi to the parks pre-expo, in the past they've had a table at ESPN Zone earlier in the day and I think the day before too, but not 100% on that one.

I thought the discounted race tickets were considered convention tickets and did not include a Magic Morning. Has this changed?

You're right. And I don't think you can upgrade the tix to more days either, not sure about AP though.

I just found out my brother's 8th grade graduation trip through YES is May 7-9. We will be getting AP's in March, so we thought we'd just take a family trip and he could be with friends during the day, and we didn't have to pay twice for him to go.

I'm kind of glad I'm a member of the DIS, otherwise I would have probably held of a bit on booking a room, and probably would have been out of luck when I tried to book one. I wasn't aware they added the Star Wars run and relegated this one to May.

I have been looking around online for the race maps, and I cannot seem to find any. I just want to know what the parking procedure is for these days. (Specifically Thursday May 7, and Friday May 8) Is Mickey and Friends open or do they direct everything to Toy Story? As simple of a thing as this is, it may affect my hotel choice just for ease of getting around. We visited December 14, 2013, and it took us ONE HOUR to get from Anaheim Blvd and Katella to Downtown Disney one morning. I'd like to avoid a similar scenario if I can.

If we were to leave the morning of Saturday, May 9, it appears we'd actually miss the bulk of the races? Is that correct?

Thanks for any help!

Thursday, you should't have any problems. The only activities taking place are the expo at the DL hotel. Traffic will be how it would be on a normal day, but the DL Hotel might have extra cars.

If the 5k course on Friday stays the same as the past couple of years, that won't make a difference either. It is contained all in the 2 parks.
Course Map If runners are driving in, they're usually directed to park in Mickey & Friends, but the race starts at 5, so by the time the park opens everyone will be cleared out.

Depending on what time you want to leave Sat, there could be some road closures. Here is the 10k map ~ Course Map That race starts at 5:30 and goes on Harbor, Manchester and Katella the last few miles. They were very stringent on the time limits last year, actually closed it a little too early and made the runners at the back mad b/c they didn't adhere to the time limits, and closed down the course to open up the streets again. But if you leave mid to late Sat morning and are on the Harbor side you should be okay.

I can finally breathe again, which means I can finally post like a normal human being again. Have I ever mentioned how much it sucks to work retail between late October and early January? I'm beat.

Anywho ... Gonna go through the thread to see what I can update. Great to see you all again.

On the Get Travel website last year it indicated that you could purchase the discounted tickets at the Expo. I did that with no problem. Picked up my bib-number and walked over to the Get Travel booth and purchased our tickets. This year, I was planning my budget and noticed that the website includes an update stating that park tickets are NOT going to be on sale at the Get Travel booth during the Expo. The booth is for pickup only. In order for the discounted tickets you must pre-order and pay by May 3rd.

I even called Get Travel to verify. Oh, I also verified that the tickets DO NOT have MM attached to them. But, saving $65 a ticket for a 3-day park hopper is nothing to sneeze at.

Hope this helps.

I was very concerned about this as we love Magic Mornings. So I thought I would call Get Travel and so long as you are staying on property the discount tickets will have MM attached.

I think that is EMH which is available to all on-site guest. MM is available to off-site guests with a 3-day or more Park Hopper. So my question to Get Travel was if the discounted tickets have MM and was told they do not.

With EMH we had to show our room key as well as our PH to gain entry.

Lol! Sorry guys, I thought it was included but I think I assumed because we stayed at the DLHALF so had EE anyway!

Hi everyone! I'm glad I found this thread. :wave2:

I'm running the Half (my first ever) this year and I am soooo nervous.
My first runDisney race was supposed to be the Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5k back in 2013 but I had to cancel last minute (and lost so much $$ at that) because I was on a tv show! I guess that made it worth it, but I was so sad.

So determined to set a goal and get my body in gear, with the inspiration from my friend I met as a CP, we're doing the Tink Half!

My best friend who lives in LA is coming to cheer me a long and though he's not running, we're making a vaca out of it and probably staying at the DLH.

I hope I can come here and whine when my training goes bad :) I'm so worried I'm going to get swept! :guilty:

Hi everyone! Just checking in, it's been awhile.

Congrats to all the Star Wars runners. The pics look so awesome! My boys are like, why wouldn't you want to run that instead of Tinkerbell? LOL.

How is everyone's training going? I'm following Jeff Galloway's "To Finish in an Upright Position" plan. I don't normally run intervals anymore but I figure I'll be using them for the Half so I'm loosely following that plan. What plan are you using?

106 days and change until the Think weekend, everyone!!

I can't say I've really trained at all. Oops! But does running SW this weekend count for something? I'm going to start trying to fit some training runs into my work schedule now and I think I'll just pick up from whatever day we are on since it's still early on. Good news is that recovery has been amazing from this Challenge and I don't need to rest my legs for a little while.

Ive always stuck with Jeff Galloway's plans, but I'll probably be going for an improvement in time. I might have been able to PR this past weekend if I had started up in my own corral rather than dropping back with my friend but who knows. I'm currently trying to break a 2:30 for my half marathon time.

Look for your name on the list of runners in the near future! I'll add you sometime tonight, but welcome to the thread!

And whining, support, and whatever else needs to be discussed is why we are here! And try not to stress about getting swept. That paranoia can, I think, ruin a bit of the experience for some people. Just do what you can to train and you should be fine!

I have a race 2weeks before that's really hilly so this time around I'm doing hill work every week. Hopefully i'll ve flying ocer those overpasses like nothing. :rotfl:

Yay! :tink:

I'd say SW counts as training. It was a mid size run followed by a long run right? ;) I'm trying to break 2:30 too! I know I have the 5/10k days before and Disney races can be a little hard to PR, but really want to break that barrier. And I figure coming off training for my other race and no pic stops, I might have a good chance during Tink.
