2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

I wonder if their going to update the iGift bag eventually? I'm asking that because you know what's missing that's really weird? The lack of a link to the New Balance Virtual Queue. The NB thing in the iGift bag is just a tips and tricks video. I don't think the virtual queue hasn't been in the Bags for a year or two now. I get the designs aren't going over that great with a lot of people (I still stand by they are really comfy shoes). But to leave it out completely is just weird!

Interesting that they would leave it out. Maybe they plan on doing something new for the sign ups?

Question: for the PDC do we have to wear the SAME bib for both two days? Or do we get two separate ones? First time doing a challenge.

But why if so? The Virtual Queue seemed to work just great for the big races over the old method (which was show up at a god awful hour to get the size you wanted, I still remember that from last year at Tink when the queue was in the building, or maybe it was the year before that?).

And as Bella Ella said one bib for the PDC. We get our own unique bib instead of the Half/10k bib. Only Challenge that has two bibs is Dopey and thats because they have four races.

Hi! :wave2: I don't believe I've posted in this thread; I've been posting in the Tinkerbell thread on the WISH board. I'm doing the Pixie Dust Challenge, and my mom is doing the 10k. I can't believe it's less than a month away! I started out following the training schedule very well, but as the distances got longer, I've had a harder time following it. Oops. I think I'm mostly ready, but I never feel as ready as my ambitious self thinks I'll be. This is my first Challenge, but I've done the Princess two times and the Disneyland Half once. I'm hoping the temperatures will be manageable.

I'm in corral F. I see it only goes to corral G....is that for both the 10k and the Half? I'm a little confused. The Princess had out to corral P or something. Why are there so few corrals for Tinkerbell?

Last year the queue was downstairs along with the "official merch" and D & B lines. I thought it was VERY organized. Everyone was just hanging out in the different lines waiting for the expo to open and they even let us in early. So official merch was purchased, I was in and out with everything I wanted.

I'm curious if they are going to create the queues like they did for Star Wars again -- official race mercy queue was held above the Expo in one of the ballrooms. I thought it worked out perfectly (plus they were showing the Star Wars films to help pass the time for those who got there super early). Dooney & Bourke were downstairs, and to be honest I didn't pay attention to the NB process because I have zero interest in them at all, lol. Horrible, I know.

Yeah but as I was saying they haven't done a physical queue in months. It's been an online process since the Princess 1/2 last year if my memory serves me correct. The only exception is the EEC. And that's because the EEC is such a small race. This race weekend has what 20,000 odd runners between the three races? That's not small, that's huge.

And I'm sorry but I don't want to show up at freaking 4:00 am to make sure I get my shoe size like I did last year. At least with the online system I can roll out of bed input my information and go back to sleep for three hours.

I'm not even sure why I'm getting worked up. I probably won't get a new pair until I'm out here for the DDD. Guess I'm worried this is a permanent change.

I'm just hoping showing up an hour pre-expo will let me get in and get some shopping done. I have an 8:00 (I say 8 I'm never out of any doctor on this campus before 9, ever) and 12:00 doctors appts. One of which is in Irvine. So yeah convenience. The other is all the way in Torrance. So hello long drive. I would like to pick up at least a few merchandise for the PDC before I drive all the way out to Torrance. Because it will be afternoon before I'll get to shop again.

I'm one of those who will get in line for merch early. Not worried about the shoes at all. Sitting in a line quietly while my DH is at park early with our little mouseketeer will give me a nice break, a shopping break.:cool1:

Yes, F for both races. Less corrals, b/c waaayyy less runners. I think Tink only has 13-15,000 vs the 20+ for PHM. :goodvibes And, less crazy runners too. ;)

Oh and I guess we are back to wristbands for Coast to Coast. -cringe- I actually liked the photo method and not having to worry about the wristband.
Blech. I prefer the pics, too.

I find the iGift bag to be completely useless. Haven't ever used anything from any race I've done yet. I sort of liked last year's shoes, but they're not styles I can run in, so I don't even bother. And this years designs seemed like a cop-out.

As mentioned above - DL races tend to be a lot smaller. I think the corrals are a little bigger, too.

Some advise please. We are flying into John Wayne airport on Thursday May 7th afternoon. Are we better off to book Super Shuttle, Disneyland bus we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel . Or is there any better options. We are leaving on May 10 flight out at 3 pm. There is just 2 of us.

I think I'm the weird one. I like these years designs and styles (they are actually quiet comfy!). Are they not as well pretty as last year? Yeah. But I still like them. I guess to each their own. Or at least the first set. I haven't looked at the second set very closely and probably won't until Dumbo.

I guess my beef with this year's shoes isn't that they're not as pretty but that all they seemed to do was add some musical notes to the shoe as it already existed, down to the color way. If the shoes were normally brightly colored and they did the same retro-theme, I'd have been fine with it. I still can't wear them, because other than the very minimal shoes, NB has the arch in a position that doesn't work for my feet. I can't even walk in them easily. I do have some trail shoes (zero drop, no arches) that I like.

I got shoes a few races ago....

About 2 PM I wandered into the Expo. They told me the line for shoes was outside (this was at WDW) I wandered out and there were .... wait for it... TWO people ahead of me. So I got in line and less then half an hour later walked out with a pair of last year's shoes (There was no way I was paying for those gray things LOL!)

Based on that demand I saw no need for a "virtual" queue.

Of course for this race my plan is just to go get my bib, shirt etc and leave. Considering the pathetic hours for the parks I am going to have to spend Saturday there so I am not wasting time standing in long lines for merchandise. (I am sorry, but I think this is just stupid of Disney! They KNOW they will have customers get organized to deal with it!)

It's possible they just didn't update the wristband info from the 2014 Tink Official Program. On page 15 of the 2015 Program, the map for downstairs at the Expo shows a location for "Pixie Dust Challenge Photos".

There are other errors in the Program caused by failures to update information from last year, such as suggesting that spectators can watch their really fast (i.e., those running sub 4 minute miles) loved ones cross the Esplanade at Mile 2.7 as early as 5:40. With the change in course, however, Mile 2.7 will be in Fantasyland. -- Suzanne

You and I must have two completely different types of luck then because any time I've tried something like your talking about they don't have what I want.

Completely missed that on the program read through before. Wouldn't be the first time there was an error in it though that they went back and fixed later.

Does anyone have touring plans and mind telling me which park is suppose to be busier on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th. I let me subscription lapse and I'm trying to plan out our attack. Thank you!
