2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

Oh man, I keep forgetting about costumes. Yours sounds simple and cute, I like it. I think I'm enlisting the help of my rookie this year, but will probably wait until this weekend after her show is over before I bring it up again, lol.

I'm thinking of something for Vidia or Zarina, but will probably go a non-pixie themed route in the end.

Last year for Tink I used my glittery neon green Sparkle Skirt and an Athleta tank that matched. I'll probably do the same for the half this year...it's a nod to Tink but won't mess with my running. For the 10K, I'm thinking of Silvermist. I made my own Scarlet Witch top for Avengers and found some great purply-blue spandex, so I'm thinking a running dress. I've got a muslin cut out of some inexpensive spandex and will be doing a little sewing this weekend. Or maybe tomorrow if it snows again...

FYI we are flying into SNA for the Neverland 5K and usually just cab it to/from HoJo's but I just found a Hertz AAA deal which is $14/day. (Hojo's parking is free) so if you were planning to rent a car or were on the fence check out hertz.com. I think the AAA deal was $5 off per day so even if you aren't a AAA member the rates are still crazy low for Thurs-Sat rentals.

OK, so it's been awhile since I really got to bring this up, but I want to nail down an 'official' meet time for any of us that would like to say a quick hello/group photo. I know a few of you are probably already members of FB groups/meets so I'd love to work around that. I think we are ruling out Thursday in case some aren't arriving until Friday, but does Friday or Saturday work for anyone?

I won't be in the parks on Saturday so if it is outside of the parks my vote is for Saturday!

Costume for the 5K is done and I just started working on a costume for the 10K.

Can any of you runners give me any information about the road closures on May 10? I saw a map somewhere but can't find it now. We're staying on harbour blvd & want to go to universal that day to skip the DL marathon crowds but not sure if shuttles can come pick us up in the morning with the race going on?

Where are you staying on Harbor? You might have some problems from the main crosswalk to the parks and HoJo's; if the course stays the same, we run down that section at the end of the race. The roads should be open b/w 10/10:30. Here's the map for you...

Unfortunately, until they release the official course map/road closures we can't say for sure. But I'd say it's a safe bet that you will be impacted by road closures in the morning. We are usually on Harbor/crossing Harbor at the beginning and the last leg of the course. It just depends on what time you were thinking of leaving and where exactly you're staying.

I'll be sure to post about the road closures when official information is released.

Thanks for the map & the info. We'll be staying at the del sol & are hoping to be at universal at opening. Not even sure how long of a drive it is. I'll keep following this thread for more info. Might try calling the hotel next week to see if they know anything about how close the shuttles can get.

If you want to go for an easy, but nontraditional, option, you can do what I'm planning to do for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run in June (my first mud run), which is Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time. I have the same blue capris from my Wendy costume (blue jeans), brown knee-high socks (brown boots), and a red v-neck long-sleeve tshirt (red jacket). I just need to find a white/light grey sports bra to complete that outfit.

I also now have a blue a-line skirt that I may or may not add to my Wendy outfit. Got it today at Forever 21 for $6 for the WDW full-time audition I'm going to tomorrow (doubt I'll get hired, but they're so much fun that I can't resist).

Also, if anyone's looking for an easy hair accessory for their costume, don't forget to check out Hot Topic, which carries a number of clip-in hair bows themed around different characters. My local Hot Topic currently has 2 different Little Mermaid hair bows (one themed around her blue dress and one themed around her mermaid look) and a Peter Pan hair bow.

Hey guys!

I wanted to say thanks to Kim and Chiomaca for your great advice. If you remember, I had a terrible 8.5 mile run and was wondering what to do different for my upcoming 10 mile run. Well, I followed pretty much all of your advice and had a GREAT 10 miler last weekend! I ended up buying shot bloks, gu, and nuun. I never did need the gu but I was pretty happy with the shot bloks. Oh, and I had about 1/2 a clif bar before the run. If my run at Tink goes as well as that training run, I am good to go! Yay!!!!

Now that's something that is quick and easy to do, and you don't see a lot (or any) of. I like it, lol. Maybe I'll have to think along those lines.

Sorry all, I'm still having a hard time figuring out the new boards and multi-quotes without copy and pasting.
Are you waiting for the draft to save and then adding another reply? That's what I've done, but I keep trying to figure out if there's an easier way.

That's so funny you mentioned OUTA as a costume idea; I was just thinking about that the other day!

Glad you were able to find something that worked for you! And congrats on the good run!

I officially figured it out. You click the +Quote like you used to with the multi-quote button for all of the posts you want to quote and then when you scroll down to the itty-bitty text box the bubble on the left says Insert Quotes. You click that and it pulls them all up in a pop-up of sorts and asks you to review the quotes you selected and then you select Quote These Messages and they get added to your text box.

I was just copy and pasting before. It's still a bit more of a hassle compared to what it used to be, but at least the function is still there.

What is this draft saving you speak of?
