2015 out!!!

Interesting!! So, Panama Canal cruise may be better to book first day rather than wait for VGT?

I don't think so - Panama Canal & Transatlantic cruises tend to get deeply discounted.

Historically if you can make the last minute decision the long cruises fall well under opening day rates. Lots to think about in regards to time off, plane tickets, hotels and other expenses. Most people can't. We did the WBPC this year in May. VGT was $1400pp. We booked the Florida resident rate at $1200pp for a 5B. The opening day prices were around $2800pp for cat 6 and $3200pp for cat 5.

I love that FL res rates beat VGT too ;)

With the Wonder in Miami, they really should have looked at 6-night and 8-night cruises to get it to the Southern. In the link someone posted that had the brochure of sailings, DCL lists a 6-night Western on the Wonder on 10/11/2014 that goes to GC, Cozumel and CC. Maybe run that cruise on Sun-Sat and put CC at the beginning as to not interfere with the Fantasy's Friday spot in CC. Then, for Sat-Sun on an 8-night, they should have gone as follows (again, CC could be moved to accommodate schedules):

Sat - Miami
Sun - at sea
Mon - at sea
Tue - Aruba
Wed - Curacao
Thu - at sea
Fri - at sea
Sat - Castaway
Sun - Miami

They could even have done some deeper Eastern islands like Barbados, St. Lucia, or Grenada with the extra day in there.

It looks like the 2015 Dream 3 day now departs on a Friday and the 4 day departs on a Monday.

Unless they do EBPC in August like in 2008. ;) Wow did those prices jump quickly and it sold out.

However, that would interesting to do an EBPC in August 2015 and pack the ship, taking it straight to NYC and do some fall New England cruises and then take it back to Miami in October (maybe even doing a Southern repo cruise to get the distant port requirement).

But who are we kidding, this is DCL.

Oh ok, that is what I figured. Thank you for the information :)

That is correct, they actually adjusted the end of the 2014 schedule after they had already released them to the public to book. Our friends have a vow renewal cruise scheduled and it was modified by one day.

I'm confused. I see a response above that it might be cheaper to book later - is that true? I have a dummy reservation which I want to change to 7 days on the Fantasy for President's Week 2015, which is a pretty popular week. Cheaper to book tomorrow or wait? Thanks.

Depends on the cruise. I'd book opening day rates for the one you mentioned, myself.

Book tomorrow. Anytime you are sailing during a holiday book as soon as possible.

Book Presidents week 2015 opening day. If it is a holiday it will go up. The reason Panama Canal goes less in May is because most schools are still in session so families cannot take off.

Thanks all for the quick response - that's what I thought. We just got off the Magic on Sunday. Glad I booked the dummy!.

Right.

I'd ADORE a long cruise like that in the summer!!!!

It was great not having to worry about school work, but there were a lot of kids on that cruise. Hot too at that time of the year.

DCL just has to decide if they will make enough money on those last 2 or 3 Alaska cruises or if the non-discounted PC would be better. If they move to NYC though for 4-6 weeks, I think they'd make it up and would definitely get more than they would if they were in the Caribbean.

Kids & heat don't bother me - I love hot! Alas, we are trying to book an Alaskan for June 2015 tho... EBPC will have to wait!

Me too!!! But our schools start around Aug 18. The 2008 PC cruise ran until Labor Day, right? J

That's when we start school too....

Ok, so if we booked a dummy last week on the Wonder and paid a deposit of $90, what will I have to pay if I change it to a 2015 booking on Thursday? Just the difference between the new deposit and my $90? I'll still get my 10% discount on the 2015 cruise and my $1-200 obc (depending on length), correct?
