Just wondering about the dates your childrens school has this year for Fall Break? In years past we have went the week before or after Columbus Day to coincide with my own childrens Fall Break. We haven't been since 2009 and I've heard crowds at MNSSHP are pretty bad now. Since this is an all adult trip for us, we decided to wait and arrive on the 17th of October this year and stay through the 24th.

Does anyone have Fall Break the week of Oct. 17-24?

My DD's school will be out Sept. 21-Oct. 2

the school district we live in is Sept 28-Oct 9

Ours is October 10-25. So definitely overlaps with your dates. We went at the beginning of October last year and it was packed. I've been hearing that fall in general is no longer a slow time, regardless of what week.

Are these year round schools? In my part of Ohio we have no such thing as a Fall break. We are off Oct. 16 though. Every year we have that Friday off in October(whatever the date). No week long breaks until Christmas Break.

Our district is not technically considered year-round, but it is a less traditional schedule. They start the first week of August and end the week before Memorial Day in May. We get a two week break in October and March, and a minimum of two weeks for Christmas, sometimes closer to 3 depending on how the dates fall. I think it's great to spread out the breaks more, no one needs 3 months of summer break!

Considered modified year round.
We get 3 weeks in winter, 2 in spring, 6 in summer and 2 in fall

I'm in South Jersey and we don't have a fall break. I'm actually glad, it's hard enough to find child care in the summer -- at least we have summer camps -- I can't imagine what we'd do with several 2 week + breaks!

Our schools get one week in Spring (generally 3rd week of March) and 1 week in Fall (generally the week before or after Columbus Day) and 2 weeks at Christmas. The school year ends in late May and resumes in early August.

Also from South Jersey and a Fall break is really unheard of.. Never even knew schools in other states get fall breaks in Sept/Oct. We get the usual teachers conventions the first week in Nov, election day and Veterans Day and all that, which used to be a week off for students, but this year our school district will only have 2 days off instead of the usual. This is Jersey Week of course.

Those are the same dates we are going! I'm in New England - we don't have a fall break. We used to get a week in Feb but now it's just a long weekend. The only week we get now is April. (Besides the xmas days off) We get so many snow days they took away all of Feb week and still usually have to make up a week in June for snow.

Our county in Georgia is getting a Fall Break for the first time this year- September 26 to October 4. So, naturally, we're going to WDW :cool1:

No such thing. There is Thanksgiving long weekend in early October.
Kids here go back to school after Labour Day and go right through until Christmas break.

We're in New York, and we have nothing off in October except Columbus Day. But I'd never heard about these rolling schedules before. Seems like there's no such thing as an "off season" anymore!

In Pennsylvania here...no fall break, but we have a Thursday and Friday off for parent teacher conferences on the 22nd and 23rd of October...I'm scheduling our conference the morning of the 22nd and surprising DD with a long weekend trip after the conference...we will be there the 22nd-26th :)

In my county in Georgia, we're off the week of Sept 21st, which seems early until you realize that school starts back on Aug 3! We also get a week in Feb in addition to the typical winter and spring breaks. As a working parent it's a royal pain, but it's great for our vacation budget. We typically don't do a summer trip, we go in Sept and spring when it's cheaper and less crowded.

Man, I wish we had some of these breaks in PA! We have our first year of "real" school coming up and I was disappointed looking at the calendar that there weren't more Disney-friendly breaks! Ha! We don't start back until Aug. 24th, and I think they need to take into account the ridiculous amount of snow days they need to fit into the schedule :(

So no breaks for us other than Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Looks like we are pulling her from a week of school this winter!
