2015 DVC Alaska Member Cruise 5/25-5/31/15

I didn't see the irony in that until about an hour ago! I guess I am sharper in the AM than PM? LOL!
We also have Tide problems here. I tried it once about 30 years ago. Too irritating for all of us. Guess it is that tender Irish skin! Which reminds me, better remember the sunblock, even though our clothes may be more than than on Castaway Cay, we are hoping to see some beautiful sun! 9 degrees on Long Island today!

Another update ....one of our fellow travelers is organizing a first day meet and greet on board for 2:30 PM in the promenade lounge. He figures that is after lunch, and probably won't interfere with safety drill.

I will add this to the front page so everyone has a chance to see it.

We just booked Palo dinner for day 1@ 6:30pm. Would not give me a table for 5 though, had to book 2 tables. Also changed our Brunch to day 7 and got a table for 5 @ 11:00am. Now we have to decide about our return trip.

We are planning to watch the Wonder sail in to Canada Place bright and early on Monday, May 25th from the outdoor pool deck at the Pan Pacific Hotel.

Is anyone else considering this? The more...the merrier!

How ironic...Tidefan allergic to Tide.

We don't have any allergy disneybelle.

Just the detergent! Love my Crimson Tide, though...

Hey, I found that there is a Costco in downtown Vancouver by the stadium if anyone needs last minute items (i.e. Water)...

Was on exactly at Midnight to log in, and couldn't get any Palo brunch. :( But figure with all the food, we will survive!

Central, so all the west coasters got in before me! No worries! So much to do, see and eat!

Today I discovered that Pan Pacific is not a Fairmont Hotel, Pacific Rim is, and so is Fairmont Waterfront. We have a reservation at the Pacific Rim, but they could switch us to the Waterfront. Reviews for both look good. No bargains in the prices for any of these 3 hotels, will do some more searching later. Has anyone stayed at these hotels? Thanks.

Maybe for the pool deck boat greeting, I hope to see her from our room, but not sure that will happen, so maybe.

No but I believe the Fairmont Waterfront is directly across from the Pan Pacific. And isn't that the hotel Disney is using for transfers? So it may be a big convenience having a company rep onsite for guest assistance.

I posted this video a few pages back but it shows the locations of several area hotels in and around Canada Place:

I'd keep checking. We just swapped out two Palo Brunch reservations at 10 am on Tues. (pty of 2 and pty of 1) for our first at sea day and booked a combined pty of 5 reservation on Day 6. You can also try to book as soon as you board. There always seems to be availability on embarkation day. I'd go right there and check with the podium.

Many make the mistake...
  • Pan Pacific was built in the 80's. Main feature is the ability to watch cruise ships dock at your feet as you jump up and down in screaming excitement.
  • Fairmont Waterfront came in the 90's. It's across the street from the cruise terminal.
  • Fairmont Pacific Rim is the newest built just before the Olympics in 2010. It's two or three blocks from the cruise terminal.
All three offer cruise luggage transfer service. Otherwise you can walk the luggage there yourself.

There's also the Fairmont Vancouver about 5 blocks south. And you pass by the Fairmont YVR when you leave the airport.

Thanks for that explanation! And thanks Jim and Christine for the video, makes me feel better that they are all so close. We are awaiting a quote on the Waterfront one, but either way, happy we have a room so close.

I would like to join the Group D fish extender group if possible. It will be myself 63yo DW and 70yo DH. Our children and grandchildren are with mdinmaking who is also in this group. Thank you.

Welcome to our cruise meet and FE group.

I have added you to the Adult group D. All I need is your cabin # and I will add that as well.

One of our fellow cruisers is suggesting a precruise meeting at the Cascades Lounge at the Pan Pacific on Sunday night 8ish. Keep it in mind if you are around Sunday night.

Sounds like a great idea. If we're not out touring or eating somewhere we will definitely be there. Let them know that we are planning to watch the Wonder sail in to port early Monday morning from the pool deck if they are interested.

Yes the Fairmont water front is one of the Disney hotels. They do a transfer from the Airport to the hotel, which we booked. Last time there took a taxi which wasn't to bad. The hotel is very nice. Close to dining and shopping all within walking distance.
