I called IPO two days ago and was told the refurb will be complete 8/4 and everything is on schedule. :)

Thanks for the info. This is good to know. We are staying at RPC 8/17-8/26 and was a little worried!

Opinions on where the quietest rooms are? Which building would you request? Thanks for your thoughts!

I would make a request of "quiet location". From talking to a couple room assigners, they prefer when people explain what they are looking for. This usually opens up more opportunities for them to grant your request when they know what you want as opposed to a specific location. The assigners know their resorts very well and know where the quiet locations are.

We are checking in to RPC one week from today on 8/3. I hope it will be finished then and have not heard anything to the contrary.

I am emailing IPO next....

Hi! DH and I were originally booked in an outer building garden view room. My spoiled rotten DH wanted to know why we couldn't be in a CL room, so I booked SL. :rotfl2: Then the fall rates came out and I was able to snag a standard view in RPC for the same price!!
Couple questions around what I should request for room location. Is there an "internal" staircase? Or would we need to take an elevator to the lounge? I might be slightly confused on the set up :rotfl: We'd like a room that isn't too far from the lounge, with a water view, if that's an option. Any thoughts or advice would've helpful and appreciated! Thanks!!

Our paths may cross.

Hope you both have great trips :wizard:.

I think Sago Cay, followed by Conch Key, would be the quietest as both are located away from the courtyard pool and main areas (but aren't that far that it takes forever to get anywhere). With that said, if you do make a building request, I agree with dansdad to put a reason ("quiet location") along with it so the room assigner knows why you are requesting that particular location/building ;).

will flying Jet Blue out of Newark 8/16 at 6am, and staying at the GF till the 23rd....

Have a great time and enjoy the GF :wizard:.

Congrats on upgrading to RPC :thumbsup2.

Yes, there is an internal staircase for getting to the lounge :).

I think all room views in RPC are great, but my personal favorite is overlooking the beach pool/Poly (which now also has a view of the VGF). We were located across the atrium from the lounge on the 3rd floor, which was very convenient. If you have a few requests, just make sure you list them in order of importance ;).

Have a great trip and enjoy RPC :wizard:.

Hello! Can anyone tell me if rooms 4419 and 4420 have castle views or if we need to be a little further down for that? Thank you!

Can I put special room requests (quiet location, balcony) in MDE or do I need to call? If calling is required, when should I do that?

And, since ya'll are just so great, how should I handle special requests for dining? Call a week before? Call now?

Will be staying at BGF next August for 12 days - very excited!

We will be using Magical Express - will we be dropped at the Villas and booked in there, or at the Grand Floridian Hotel and then have to walk over to the Villas?

Also, if you do get booked in at the hotel (as I will have a very tired 4 year old with me and luggage on my own) do they provide golf carts or similar to get there or it is close to the hotel?

Many thanks :-)

Hi Sorry no those rooms do not have a castle view. The view from those rooms is the courtyard pool. I know that 4420 is a deluxe queen and I *think* 4419 is a deluxe queen as well. Did you book TPV or standard view? Hope this helps, if not someone with more knowledge than I will be along.

I am really really looking forward to spending some evenings sitting on my balcony at the GF, enjoying a glass of wine. My question is: what are my chances of getting a room with a balcony? We are booked for an Outer Building Lagoon View room, and all I can find online is that "most rooms" have a balcony. I'd be sorely disappointed to not have a balcony.

The bottom floors technically have a patio. Also the Deluxe outer rooms have the top floors without a balcony.

You should be pretty safe. Don't be afraid to ask at check in if you do have a balcony. They are pretty good at honoring requests.

PS I love the balconies too:goodvibes

This may fall under the category of a "no brainer", but just wondering...

RPC Standard Room or Outer Building TPV (non club level)?

They are both available during our stay. We are currently booked in RPC, but wondering if the kids would really like the Outer Building TPV (non club level)

Thanks!!

I would stick with RPC. We aren't ones to pay for views and while TPV would probably be nice, RPC is just amazing and that would be my choice over an outer building TPV. With that said, I'm sure you'll have a great time either way as the GF is amazing no matter which room category you have. Good luck with your decision.

1) How is the wifi at GF?

2) Have GF guests been having success getting to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot before opening, with the monorail not operating so early in the morning?
