baler31 - thank you for pictures! Where is the concierge desk located? Looks like there is a seating area where the concierge desk used to be.

Thanks Baler31 :-). We are staying CL for the first time soon. We are in SL but it's comforting to see pics of the decor.

Thanks! You answered my question about IPO having any pull for BOG. But I'll give it a shot knowing that the chances are still slim to none :goodvibes

You're welcome :goodvibes. Definitely try for BOG as a lot of people end up finding something sooner or later. Good luck :wizard:.

Hello
Are any of the club level rooms renovated yet?
Thanks

SL should be about completed and RPC is scheduled to start tomorrow :).

I have a room booked at the suites AOA but I think I want to move to sugar loaf. What do you guys think?

If it's doable, I would upgrade :thumbsup2.

Also lodge tower does have a daybed now. Will post more when back in room.

Thanks for the information on the daybeds :).

I checked into sl from main today cannot tell how many they have opened today as it does not seem crowded.

Hope you are having a great time :goodvibes.

Thanks for the SL pics (although I'm not liking the lounge any more than I do the rooms :(). I think the blue is out of place and it looks like a cafeteria (just my opinion). Not sure what Disney is thinking with these refurbs :sad2:.

The desk is straight ahead direct center when you walk in. We have never been in SL before so i do not no where it was before.

Dormer rooms - opinions?

I like to stay on high floors, and I think I wouldn't mind a Dormer room, but want to hear what others think. It will be just me in the room, so a smaller space isn't a concern.
I'm not sure if these are something people want, or something people avoid (thus making it easier to get.)

Overall, I think I'd be happy with anything but a ground level room. But curious what others think/have experienced.

TIA!

I stayed in a dormer room with a king-sized bed. I loved it!! It didn't feel smaller, just more quaint, cute and cozy! I think they are adorable! :goodvibes

I never felt that I was in a smaller room or was missing out on anything. I wish some of the other rooms had some of this whimsy, too! Love them! :)

baler31...thank you very much for the pics. I think it looks really nice. Can't wait to see it in person.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.:goodvibes

So since we bailed out of WL's poolgate for GF I've gotten such great info from here - THANKS - and have rearranged ADRs even scoring an awesome early afternoon tea for the girls while the boys do a bass fishing excursion with a late 1900pf dinner. Added a departure day ohana bf, kona cafe bf, a couple meals at GFC and because I thought 5nts was too sparse to get a good feel of the resort added a 6th night (after our 5nts at USO)!

Now I'm down to the spa. I'm thinking massage and wrap, but no fascial as I normally need a day to recover after one of these and my regular microderm lady would not be pleased. I'm leaning toward the Swedish massage and sweet red rose body treatment. Anyone had the Rose treatment? Anything I should know about the spa in particular?

Is the new pool slide substantial? DD4 loves the jib at BC and I'm hoping this compares a little.

Is it customary to tip the guide on the bass fishing excursion?

Do you have to have your MB scanned to get into the pool area? Is it gated like BC Stormalong bay?

TIA!

I posted more photos on twitter while waiting for my kids to ride space multiple times. Getting ready to get in line for A&E

Thanks for the photos! The red sofa and cute pillows don't seem to go together, but I do love that pillow! :goodvibes Our room in Conch Key last month did not have the table in front of the sofa, but I'm sure you did because it was a larger room.
Do you feel as if the desk in the lounge is "in the way"? In the old arrangement, it was over against the wall opposite the food offerings.

This will be my first time at GF after bailing on WL too!
I sent my father and DH on one of the fishing excursions a couple years ago. They had a great time and did leave a tip. I want to say like 20% - which I thought was a little much, but DH was the one on the trip. They would definitely do it again! Have a great time!

Are there benches in the rooms in front of the bed like there used to be?

Don't know if I like the concierge desk in the center of SL lounge. Looks like you have to walk around it to get out of lounge and to get to other seating area.

Glad this thread has been helpful for your first GF stay. Congrats on adding an extra night. I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the resort :wizard:.

I'm sure you will love the GF. It's a great resort and is a good alternative (IMO) to the WL :goodvibes.

Thank you!!

You are asking a group of GF enablers here!! Actually although a standard room at the GF will be less space than the AOA suite..the CL lounge does offer a nice alternative space to your room..and the rooms at the GF are large in general...400 sq ft I believe...and having all of the perks of CL..the lounge the food and beverages..and the CL staff reallly adds up to making a vacation very relaxing...

On Tuesday, it will be the 2 week mark for our trip to Disney. As of right now, TA at AAA still doesn't have our travel documents. This has never happened to us before. Anyone else having issues? All I want are my docs for the GF and Disney! I'm frustrated.

TA called Disney and they said there was a delay. I want to know what caused delay. You think if I called Disney that they would tell me?

I wouldn't hurt to just call the general number..maybe they can tell you when the documents were sent out..we have always gotten them at about 1 month prior...but as someone else pointed out..think it was Trish..as long as you have an MDE account set up.and everything linked to our MB you will have no problem boarding the ME..the only caveat is that if you wanted to check your luggage so that it should be sent directly to the resort you will need those yellow luggage tags....Hope that you get them soon!!! :goodvibes

I am so excited to stay at the Grand Floridian in late September! This is my last Deluxe resort to stay at. And I am doing it in style by staying club level in a Royal Palm theme park view room. My mom and sister are going with me and we are staying two nights.

I've stayed CL before at other resorts but never received such an extensive planning form before.

So my question is - is there any advantage to the form?

It Seems like this form is geared more toward people who don't go to Disney as often or aren't constantly on disboards to be in the know :goodvibes

The form says all reservations are subject to availability. So should I even bother requesting Be Our Guest Restaurant?

I already made reservations online for us at the Garden Tea Room since there was only one reservation available on the day I wanted.

There isn't a section for requests for the actual room, but should I include this anyway - like we definitely want two queen beds - three of us aren't sharing a king :rotfl: We already have the theme park view reserved so I assume all those rooms have good views, but any advantage to requesting a certain floor?

Is there anything else I should think about in filling out this form?

Thank you!

Congratulations on booking your first stay at the GF..and what a way to start...staying in RPC is a wonderful vacation experience in itself!:thumbsup2 I have never used the form..but always call and make any particular requests at that time...

No worries on the room as king TPV rooms are in a seperate booking category..TPV rooms are furthest from the lounge but is is not a long walk at all..4301 (3rd floor) or 4401 (4th floor) being the absolute farthest...and I think 08 the closest..

As for requesting a hard to get ressie thru IPO..they will check your request every day..We have TWICE in the last year gotten BOG dinner ressies at about 1 to 2 months before our trip...so chances are really not slim to none..it can happen! :wizard:

I think RPC will be done end of July.

:thumbsup2

Cannot upload to photobucket wlll try later but i created a twitter for the SL photos. It is TFW@1965

Also lodge tower does have a daybed now. Will post more when back in room.

Baler Thanks so much for taking the time out on your vacation to post pics of the newly refurbed SL....:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :flower3: Hope that you are having an absolutely GRAND time!!

:wave2:Hi everyone! Hope everyone's Saturday is going great.
Blue...You are going to be a regular at Ohana now. I'm glad you got the reservation.: .

Hey there abk  LOL..yes Ohana regulars!!! Thanks..I am so glad that we were able to get both of those ressies...and my DD really wanted to go to the breakfast..its been quite a few years since we have done it...we are immersing ourselves in the whole Poly experience... :worried: I sure do hope that we enjoy it..lol....if not this GF gal will be jumping shipping and begging for a room at the inn..GF that is...lol...

Grannyminnie Are you all packed..ready to go...:moped:

MickeyNut Not liking the blue in the new lounge..*gasp* ...;) I actually was expecting a different hue of blue..more like Gaspies...but I do think that its the bold carpet colors that are throwing things off...who picked that anyway!!!!!?????????????? :upsidedow lol....I like the benches though..still bistro looking to me... I guess SL will not be on the list of choices for our next trip..huh???? :upsidedow :snooty:

Hope that all of my fellow GF groupies..(that phrase always make me think of you pas !!! lol) are having a super Sunday...:earsgirl: preppy GF gal who is now considering adding adding the Luau to her list of ADRs....:rolleyes1

Hi there

My hubby has already posted a few questions on here, but thought I might add some too :)

First off can I say thank you for this thread, just been through the whole thing from start to finish and some really great info and posters as well :goodvibes

Me and DH are staying at the GF for the first time (we are Poly Peeps) after switching from WL. Am so so excited as it has always been my dream to stay at the GF for Christmas as I can't think of any other resort to celebrate in :santa:

We've been watching YouTube vids and scouring the Dis for info, but I wanted to get everyones opinion on what Building they think is best suited for what we (well me ;) ) are looking for.

Reading some of the more recent posts about snakes, I have to say I am with the majority and ever since reading that thread about Disney creatures  I cannot stay in any room that isn't on the top floor.

We have booked a Lagoon View and I have this perfect picture in my head of basically walking out onto our balcony (railings not walled) and looking out at the lagoon. There's no people below or resort ground, just water, quiet and greenery. Does this view exist and does it exist in Sago Cay? As from looking at the resort map, that seems to be perhaps the quietest of the buildings?

Your help is greatly appreciated :flower3:
