Thank you for sharing! I must be blind. I saw the side chair next to the TV where the desk used to be. Where is the desk located now in the room? Has it been added since these pictures have been taken and the side chair moved next to the bed closest to the sliding door where it used to be? Even on vacation DH does work and uses the desk and his laptop.

Have a good day friends!

I'm seeing the side chair next to the tv also and in other pics from the first page of this thread the desk and chair are in between the bed and the balcony door.

Hopefully every room is set up like this.

:surfweb: Good Morning fellow GF fans!

~No new news on the FPP for SDMT....:confused3

Found a nice write up on GF including some pics of new rooms and detailed CL offerings. I hope it's okay to post the link. Here it is. (If it's not okay, moderators
may delete and I will not
be offended. Just found the write up helpful.)

Thanks for the link happymom! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I have a question and I apologize if it has been asked In a previous post. Has anyone done a family portrait at the gf? We Are looking into using Disney Event Photography on our upcoming trip and I would like the portrait to be taken outside on the Gf grounds and I was wondering if anyone has done this? Thanks so much in advance for any feedback

We have done this a few times over the years....and been very pleased with the photographs.. I forget how much time that the photo session is?? But we met with the photographer in the GF lobby...and then he took a nice variety of photos all around GF inside and out....the outdoor photos are truly my fave..and I think GF makes the perfect back drop for a family portrait! :cloud9:

 Hope that everyone is having a terrific Tuesday!! :earsgirl:

I guess I am blind because I see the desk now! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I knew my friends here could help me out!

MickeyNut That girls trip sure was a lot of GF fun! That fireworks cruise on the Grand One is a stand out in my memory! :sail: :boat: :crowded: LOL...I really do think that that is a wonderful way to enjoy a gathering and especially the fireworks!

Yes that trip was a lot of fun :goodvibes......and the Grand One was awesome.......lots of good memories ::yes::. I agree.....it doesn't get much better than watching fireworks from the water aboard the Grand One :wizard:.

Good Afternooon everyone :wave2:

Had some unexpected surgery last week, just getting back to the swing of things and trying to catch up on the thread :). So far 2014 hasn't been the best for us...can't help but think (or hope) that the rest of the year will be smooth sailing!

We had our family portrait taken a few years ago at the GF and got some amazing shots (pre-construction & thru the photopass folks). We opted to do all of our pics outside and dressed casual all wearing jeans with white tops and no shoes for the beach pics. We also got some very nice shots taken around the gardens and fountain area. Photographer was wonderful and we were very pleased with the outcome.

A year later, my oldest DD had her senior pics taken at Disney and the folks at Event Photography took the photos. We were staying at the Beach Club that year so she did her pics there and again, they all came out AMAZING!!! Now my youngest DD has already said she wants her senior pics taken at Disney too, so we'll be doing it again next year!! Worth every penny IMHO.

Wow! Another GF FAQ already. Great work as always, k&a&c'smom! :thumbsup2 You always do such a fantastic job and just wanted to reiterate how appreciative all of us DISers are. :goodvibes I remember that the GF FAQ used to be among the quieter FAQ's on the DIS and that is most definitely not the case any longer!!

It has been some time since I last posted here, so mostly just wanted to check in and say hi. :wave2: My mom is already talking about wanting to book another January 2015 trip, so perhaps a trip is in the not-too-distant future. The GF room décor is still not growing on me () and we have stayed at the GF twice recently, so it's looking like maybe the AKL or BC this time around... would love to return to the Poly, but just too much still going on with the construction!

I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the start of spring! I'll try to check in here more often, but know that I am always lurking even when I don't find time to post.. :tiptoe:

so sorry to read about your surgery and I sure hope you are feeling better!!!
Thank you mommyrosa and blue skies this is so helpful! We would really like to take some casual photos on the beach with the GF in the background! I am so excited for this! We will be there in August so as were thinking early in the morning and possibly a saturday. The photo shoot is 20 minutes so I don't want to use too much of the time switching to multiple locations and I am hoping the beach will be a good spot

How awesome to have your DD's senior pics taken at Disney :goodvibes. I hope things work out for your youngest DD to have hers taken at Disney next year :wizard:.

I agree....k&a&c'smom does a great job with this thread :thumbsup2.

How exciting that you might have another trip in the works :goodvibes. We might be headed to Disney the middle of January, but nothing is definite yet. Don't feel bad about the GF rooms....they haven't grown on me either and as much as I would love them to, I know they won't.....but I still love the GF and everything it has to offer. I hope you and your mom are able to start planning your next trip :).

Hope to "see" you here more often, even if it is just to say "hi" as I know how things can get busy and there's often not enough time to come and post. Hope things are going well with you :flower3:.

Maybe we will be in the World at the same time?! We will travel during MLK weekend if we do end up deciding to make a trip in January. Glad to hear that you potentially have something in the works as well! :)

I completely agree that the GF still has so much to offer. We will most definitely be back because of those beautiful grounds, views, amenities, etc. After all, the Grand truly is grand (even if the rooms aren't their grandest right now)!

And I will definitely try to be better about posting, although my post count over the years doesn't necessarily bode well. We always seem to frequent the same threads anyway, though, so I'm sure you will be seeing enough of me! ;) All is well here and I hope the same goes for you!

Please forgive me if this has recently been discussed, but searching for things on here can be a beast sometimes!

I'm curious about the lodge tower room - I think they're calling it a Deluxe Outer room - garden view? Anyway, it's a bit larger than the standard and has a sofa, but it indicates it only sleeps 4 - not 5. Does the sofa not pull out like in other rooms?

So confused, but I'm sure I came to the right place. I've gotten conflicting information when I've called. Thanks so much for your help!

Another GF fan here just saying I'm not going to get used to the new decor either...just not in keeping with the overall feel of the Grand, as far as I'm concerned! :confused3

I'm about over the cold (or whatever it was) that has been keeping me down for the last week. Like all you GF lovers, it always helps to come here and dream about our favorite place.....:cloud9: Plus, we are now in the 30s in our countdown, so that is even more "healing"! :)

In January it had a sofa not bed. My 5'11" ds16 still slept on it though. He liked having his own "room" :rotfl2:

(We used blankets but you could call for sheets if needed.)

mommyrosa2 - I hope that you are getting back into the normal swing of things soon. Keep positive. There are always a few bumps in everyone's life, mine included!

Thank you for that info! Did you book 5? I wonder if they'll let us book 5 people... Hmmm. Glad your tall kiddo fit! That's encouraging :-)

Whoa! Another ticker change? This is SO UNLIKE YOU! :rotfl: Just couldn't stay away from the lure of the MK area? Or ?? Do tell :chat:

I am very interested to see pictures of the refurbed lodge tower rooms to see if they keep the sitting area with just a couch or if they change the couch to a daybed.(which would make more sense to me). Seems weird to have a larger room with less capacity :confused3

Oh! You noticed.... :rotfl:

I know, sooooo unlike me, huh? :rolleyes2

Yes, I absolutely wanted to be in the MK area. I've done my usual flip flopping but I think this is it. For the past few weeks, I have thought we were going to have to move our trip dates up by a week or so, because I thought our date were going to overlap with the first few days of school, so I had switched to BC since it was cheaper....knowing that switching airfare was going to cost me extra....

But, 9/2 was confirmed as the 1st day of school, so now our dates of 8/16-8/26 are all set, and I moved us back to the GF!!!:woohoo:

Very excited that everything fell into place and that we will be able to stay here for the 1st time! :goodvibes

August can not get here fast enough:goodvibes
