2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival 9/19-11/10

Just to let you know, Dis Unplugged posted a video of the TiW preview. It's a quick video under 3 minutes. It shows that the jalapenos are put on before serving. Hopefully this remains true at the booth!! Thought you'd like to know.

Disney makes it very easy to manage food concerns without it taking over your trip. If you have ADRs, you might want to consider calling Disney & having them put a note on your reservations. I didn't one trip & ended up with a rash b/c I didn't know they fry the Lobster Corndogs @ Fulton's & Cod in the same oil. :worried: Won't make that mistake again! Luckily it's just a mild allergy. I'd rather tell everyone, than end up with pain that could dampen my trip. I hope everything works out for you!:goodvibes

I tried to leave a thank you for the link last night but the boards were not cooperating! But THANK YOU very much for the link.

My food issues are so vast that it is even hard for me at home to deal with at times. So I am going to focus on avoiding my big triggers and hope my meds deal with the rest. Otherwise my avoid list is huge! So I will avoid tomatoes, citrus, chocolate, alcohol, and a few other things that are easiest. Do you still think I should call and have "allergy" added? It is not a true allergy but these foods make a medical condition I have worse which means pain.

If you are booking a special event, when you book you should be sure to state ANY allergies or food avoidances due to medical conditions.

There is nothing you can do about the booths or events like Party for the Senses except ask for ingredient lists.

....thanks. I appreciate the reply and that's good to know that we can use our snack credits at the various kiosks. I wonder why the CS credits cannot be used - I'm guessing because, with a CS meal, you get an entree and dessert, and the kiosks cannot accommodate for that.....? :confused3

Because the samples are not considered meals. Nothing is a full portion. They're also not set up to do something like let you have 3 samples for one CS credit because, unlike food courts, the booths won't be able to take CS credits at all.

There is now a booking tutorial in Post 2.

I don't see the logic in offering Eat to the Beat dining packages. The concerts don't fill up. But if the idea does catch on, then those of us who don't book the concerts may have to consider getting in line early if we want seats.

Has anyone here used IPO to book events at F&W? From what I understand, they don't have "an edge" or better luck, or do they?
I'm interested in the event with Buddy, which we've missed the past three years by just a couple days. Do you actually get to meet him? Take pictures with him? Just wondering what to expect!!
Thanks so much!! :)

They don't have an edge as they will be in the same queue as us.

I wouldn't trust special events through them

The previous poster is correct: the only advantage you get via IPO is that you have someone else dialing that phone at 7 AM. They do not get special access to the events that regular callers don't get.

The celebrity usually has a book signing afterward at which you can meet him or her and get photos (if you have something for them to sign; not sure if it requires that you purchase their book). Other than that it's going to depend on the celebrity. Bryan Voltaggio roamed around grating truffles last year, and he seemed glad to pose for photos while doing so, lots of attendees got pictures with him.

Maybe I missed it on here but are celebrity chefs doing demonstrations every day during F&W or only on certain days of the week? And is there a list so I can see who will be there during our trip? Thanks!

Celebrity chefs only appear on certain days. They are usually concentrated on weekends. The special events are out already, see the info link in the first post for those. By seeing who is having an event, you will know who is there during your visit. If you are looking for the low cost "deminars," the schedule for those will be out on Thursday. If the chef is appearing at one of the special events, it does not mean they will also present at a deminar.

So I am in the world for the last 2 days of the festival the 9th and 10th anyone willing to explain it to me? I read the forst post but am not sure I understand

Thanks

.

And sometimes you have NO advantage. I am not sure if it was last year or the year before but I ran into someone very hysterical that on the booking day their IPO waltzed into the office around 9 and called to book PFTS Wine View Lounge only to be told "sold out'

I would not trust a TA or IPO if an event really matters to you.

Just a warning.

I would NOT book PFTS if you have issues with food (allergies/reactions whatever)

This is not an event where they can do substitutions and they aren't able to give you any type of info on what will be served at booking. There was one person at one I went to years ago who was rather put out about that as she expected them to fix special food at each "location" and most of them either could not or would not accommodate her. (That was my last year of non reserved seating. I refer to it as the "year of the rude" It may have been the most bizarre PFTS ever. Even the CMs were in shock by what was going on. People were almost coming to blows to "defend" their table, they were shoving in line and grabbing food and then some of them tried to steal stuff as they left . Ms "I can't eat anything" was wandering around complaining LOUDLY to everyone and anyone.:sad2: Maybe it was a full moon. Having been many times before and after this was unique... I later heard that Disney had given a LOT of locals some passes to that PFTS as a "Thank you" for some stuff and maybe they just didn't know what to expect? :confused3 The CMs did give me an extra wine glass as an apology for what was going on LOL! That was after i was delayed leaving because they had to stop folks from walking out with their goodies. One person had helped themselves to this big Silver Wine Cooler LOL!)

Don't know what you are specifically looking for as far as an explanation but in a broad sense think STREET FESTIVAL. The entire World Showcase walkway will have food/beverage booths that will offer, for a price, samples of booth specified country's cuisine and beverages. The beverages for sale will be alcoholic and non alcoholic. In addition there will be several other stations that will be solely beer offerings.

Separate from the World Showcase food booths, several restaurants will offer special lunches or pairings for an additional fee and special booking procedures.

In the Festival Welcome Center there will be daily food demonstrations and beverage sampling. These also are an additional fee and require sepatate reservations, They are conducted at specific times.

That is a very basic description. Ask away.

We tried to book it last year, but it was sold out when I got through on the phone lines. I'm up for another headache as I'm trying again this year.

Same here. Sold out last year, REALLY would like to go this year. If we don't get in, guess we will just have to try again in 2015. :rotfl2:

which events sell out?

Based on last year & years before, the events that tend to sell out on the first day are the Signature Dinners, White Truffle Lunch, Hibachi Experience, Sweet SUndays for major guests (so assume Sunday Mornings will too), The events with Robert Irvine & Buddy & Zimmerman will sell out quickly, the reserved seating & wine view lounge at Party of the Senses, Hibachi Experience.

The events that don't sell out on the first day tend to be the general seating for the large events like Party of the Senses, 3DD, Puerto Rico, etc.

They may not sell out of French Regional Lunches as quickly as I think they may have reached their price point.

There is way too much for me to describe everything with specificity in the first post, so there is a link on there to a site called the Disney Food Blog which goes into everything in depth. They will even have pictures once things are up and running.

One of the things to determine if you only have a couple of days is whether you want to just cruise the food kiosks or if you'd like to book any special events or seminars. Those are all described in the link. Many of them sell out fast and will need to be booked first thing next week, when booking opens.

.....mahhhh :confused3, I could see him any time by just taking a quick ride over to Hoboken....BTW, their selection of baked goods is okay - not great.....JMHO popcorn::
