2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival 9/19-11/10

Let the Cluster Flub begin!!! I'm also hearing reports that Chase Disney card members will be able to book beginning on 7/29. Will this be limited spots or not? Will events sell out (or false reports of sell-outs) before general sale? If folks remember last year, this is starting to sound like reservations will be a huge mess yet again :confused3

You were expecting an improvement? Really? Unless you have inside information that Disney has fired the entire IT team and started over then.... :rotfl2:

Considering what the money invested in Tragic Bands has gotten us assume that there has been no time (or money) to deal with anything else.

Since I found it VERY hard to find the info on the Disney Food Blog

Last year I know I was able to book PFTS Wine View Lounge at early booking and if I decided to go I will try again this year. (Still on the fence, but I guess I have to decide in the next few days!)

From the Disney Food Blog (highlighting added by me)

"Holders of the Chase Disney Visa Card can book select Food and Wine Events on July 29th at 7am ET. A limited number of seats will be held for Chase Disney Visa Cardholders, so if your preferred event sells out on this date, call back on July 31st to get access to additional seats. To take advantage of the early booking opportunity, call (407) WDW FEST."

Found a SIGNIFICANT change to the Parisian Breakfast.

"a welcoming Mimosa on Saturday mornings, featuring authentic pastries (baguettes, brioches, croissants), unlimited coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and orange juice!"

No more unlimited Mimosas. Now you just get unlimited OJ. I knew that was too good to last. (I probably won't do it again, it would have been tight to fit into my schedule and the change does not make it more appealing)

More changes.

Shake and Indulge with the French (or whatever) does not include the crepe this year, just some chocolates.

Thanks all for the information! This will be our fourth consecutive FW:cool1:

This year we are bringing two sets of newbies and meeting our partners in crime:rotfl:

Here's hoping we can find a Signature Dinner while we are in the "World.":drinking:

....sorry if this was asked already, but can someone point me in the right direction or privide a link to let me know what falls under the category of "snack" and what is considered "counter service" for this year's F&WF if we have DDP...tia! :thumbsup2

This information has not been released as of yet, at least not that I could find. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. :)

If it stays the same as previous years, all booth food items will be considered a snack. counter service meals do not work at any of the kiosks

What is the date to call in for WVL for PFTS? We have a friend calling as we're going to be out of the country.

....thanks. I appreciate the reply and that's good to know that we can use our snack credits at the various kiosks. I wonder why the CS credits cannot be used - I'm guessing because, with a CS meal, you get an entree and dessert, and the kiosks cannot accommodate for that.....? :confused3

Good to know. I was thinking this might be the case. Any other recommendations for a Signature Dinner?

They change every year. We have done the Jiko one twice. Once was very good-lasted 3 hours+. There were Execs from Disney/Japan there and they really went all out. It was in the wine room. The next time was out around the savannah and the guest chef did not show up last minute. It seemed like they were scrambling. The food was not great. They did give out bottles of wine to take home for guests that had stickers on the backs of their chairs-that was fun (I got one!) It was great sitting outside too.

We have also done a "Spirited Ball" Signature Dinner in the American Adventure rotunda. There were dancers and "ghosts" from the paintings in there. I loved it, but many did not.

We did a Signature at Blue Zoo. Todd English was there and that was fun. The drinks at the opening were great.

The other one we did was a Mexican dinner in the Odyssey. The opened with nice tequila drinks. They let us take the table decorations when we left-very cool terracotta skulls!

Allearsnet has several blogs/photos/videos posted regarding this year's festival

Disney will also be offering eat to the beat dining packages. These appear similar to the Candlelight Processional packages where you make a reservation for lunch or dinner and receive preferred seating for the eat to the beat concert for that evening. Usually these concerts don't fill to capacity so I don't see the need for this package.

So, which chefs are people excited to see this year? Obviously haven't seen the demo schedule yet but based on what has been released, I'm excited - looks like a nice line-up. Most looking forward to Rick Bayless but also excited about Andrew Zimmern, Bryan Voltaggio, Alex Guarnaschelli and Carla Hall. Robert Irvine also always gives a good show.

Yes, that is exactly it!

While a few of the items are big enough to be a meal for some folks. (The noodle plate from China, the filet from Canada, insert another example here.) Others are just enough to anger your appetite! :rotfl2: The crispy pork belly from Brazil (my personal favorite), the Scargo from France, etc.

So they are just considered snacks & not covered as CS. I think it also helps that these aren't Counter Service locations, too. Don't forget alcohol is oop, too. I know there was a shrimp or chicken plate from the Refreshment Port that was considered a snack last year. Once it was passed around here & FB Disney put tape over the DDP icon. I guess they were loosing $$ on it?

That does sound good, but I wouldn't be able to have the jalapenos on it.

Does anyone know how good they are about asking to leave 1 or 2 things off? Like a sauce or the jalapenos (it sounds like they are on top since they are listed after the sauce)? Or is it that I will just have to ask if it is possible when I get there?

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it. This will be my first time with dealing with food "issues". Not allergies but some foods can cause my medical condition to flare up and cause pain. So I try hard not to have to deal with it. I will already not be able to drink so I only have the food to look forward to!

This is only my second year to food and wine but my first with having to deal with limitations. I only go on weekdays and have something like 3 or 4 trips over to Epcot planned already. If I can stay away from a handful of things I will be okay as long as I keep my meds with me. I will splurge some but over all will try to keep it as safe as possible so it doesn't become the focus of the trip.

Just to let you know, Dis Unplugged posted a video of the TiW preview. It's a quick video under 3 minutes. It shows that the jalapenos are put on before serving. Hopefully this remains true at the booth!! Thought you'd like to know.

Disney makes it very easy to manage food concerns without it taking over your trip. If you have ADRs, you might want to consider calling Disney & having them put a note on your reservations. I didn't one trip & ended up with a rash b/c I didn't know they fry the Lobster Corndogs @ Fulton's & Cod in the same oil. :worried: Won't make that mistake again! Luckily it's just a mild allergy. I'd rather tell everyone, than end up with pain that could dampen my trip. I hope everything works out for you!:goodvibes

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:

No matter what dates I pick, I get it wrong every year!! I will miss Buddy Valastro AGAIN!!!
2012 23SEP-06OCT --He was there 09NOV
2013 25OCT-09NOV--He was there 13OCT
2014 03-11OCT------He's there 19OCT
I logically understand the Disney has better things to do than mess with me...BUT REALLY?!?!?!?

:headache::mad::headache::mad::headache::mad:

Misery loves company...anyone else get it wrong, too?

*end rant

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like we can go wrong with just about any of the dinners.

I would love to see any of these listed above.. however Robert Irvine and Brian Voltaggio are at the top of my list..
