You'd be better calling AAA once 2015 rates are released. Remember, Disney usually has promotions in Feb, so a AAA rate is not always the best rate.

You can get a AAA discount on your room res by booking through WDW, too. In the past, I've booked the aaa rate just to make sure I got SOME discount. Then I got the public discount when it became available and, then, the AP rate.

I am planning a family trip for 2015
We have never stayed in a deluxe before and I want to stay at BC because of the pool. My kids are fish. My question is. I can afford to do Deluxe Dinning or Club Level. Which is the better choice. Again I know nothing about the deluxe resorts. Also, is it a long bus ride to MK ?

Thanks,

Missed this part of your question.

The bus ride from the BC to MK is 15 minutes, plus whatever wait time you have for the bus.

:thumbsup2

We are taking our twins to Disney for the first time in late August. We booked the Yacht Club last night for 8 nights. The babies will be 20 months old at the time of the trip.

I've searched high and low, but can't figure out if Yacht or Beach Club has a playground! Can anyone tell me if they do and if so, do you have pictures? We plan to spend lots of pool time (thus our resort choice), but would like a land playground at times too.

Thanks! We've stayed in all of the moderates, most of the Values, and Animal Kingdom Lodge a few times. This will be our first Yacht Club stay and I'm super excited!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for late August.

:cool1:

As others have answered, unfortunately there is no longer a land playground at the resort. There are a couple of unique water experiences, though- the shallow sandbar area of SAB where the kids can play in the sand, and the kiddie pool and slide located behind the big (Jib) slide. You can see pictures in the second and third posts of this thread.

We're staying at the Beach Club in a few weeks. First time to that resort. If I make a room request when we get there, any thoughts on location? (We stayed at Poly last time and requested a longhouse, which was easier to do. This resort seems so big, I'm not sure what would be best.)

Kids ages 9 & 12. We'll use the pool a fair amount and walk to Epcot for some meals while we are there.

We just have a standard room - did not pay for upgraded view or anything.

Anywhere I should request NOT to be placed?
Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for May.

:woohoo:

As others have indicated, requests can vary based on what is important to each family- full balcony, daybed, upper floor, lower floor, location. Once you know what you want, contact Disney's Central Reservations Office and have them add the request to your reservation.

A co-worker of mine just returned from WDW and he immediately wanted to tell me about the "soft opening" of Be Our Guest restaurant and how it isn't fully functional yet and that they are still working on it to open it up to all guests. I said he was probably talking about fastpass+ for lunch and he insisted the restaurant is not open yet.

After arguing for a few minutes I just let it go. You just can't tell some people anyrhing.

:sad2:

Was that before or after he took the monorail to MGM to visit Hogwart's Castle?

:rotfl2:

I know this answer is going to vary based on individual child and swimming ability, but I was wondering what age you allow your children in the pool and/or waterslide at sab alone. I don't like that the entrance to the waterslide is so far away from the pool so usually one of us goes with my son and the other waits at the bottom. This time around my son is almost 8 and a great swimmer but I just wonder what the right age is to "let him go".

Friends of the BC & YC, my wife and are now less 60 days away from our arrival at the BCV. I thought I'd throw a question out to the group.

You arrive at the resort around 7pm, after a long day of traveling. Your excited to finally be at WDW, but you do not have a park ticket for this first day considering your late arrival. You are probably hungry and very curious about the area around your resort. You did not make an ADR for this first evening due to the uncertainty of arrival time.

What would you want your first Disney experience to be? After you check in, where would go to get something to eat and explore the BC YC BW area?

-Crew's Cup Lounge at YC. No rez necessary. Good pub-style food.
-Try a walk-up at Captain's Grill at YC
-For finer dining, you may be able to snag a walk-up at Flying Fish at BW
-for a simpler, cheaper experience, there are several fast food options, and you can stand on the bridge between Boardwalk and Beach Club and watch some of the higher illuminations fireworks.

That sounds perfect, snag some "to-go" and take in the scenery. Are there tables or benches on the Boardwalk and bridge? Considering how close you are to Epcot, those higher fireworks must be a nightly treat. Thanks.

Hi everyone!! I hope y'all r enjoying the weekend. I just thought I would share that I passed my clinical class! I have one touring/ packing question. What do you use for any chaffing issues?

Thanks so much!

Congratulations!!! That is fantastic.

We use Glide (we purchase it at Olympia Sports, about $10 a stick). Youngest son has big issues with chafing. And as long as you are making special purchases, don't forget the moleskin for blisters

My name is Linda and I am a Beach Club addict.....

UGH!! As much as I try to say I am going to "really buckle down and save money this trip" it just never works out.....

I had a post a few pages back about using a travel agency for a big savings on our room in August. I wasn't able to get a Bounce Back or the Summer promotion, nothing was available for our dates, and even though I have an AP, I was nervous that nothing would be available at the BC. Before booking it, I called Disney to check rates one more time, and lo and behold I had a PIN attached to my name (which I never received) and there was a Garden View Club Level room available for a 39% discount! WHAT??? Of course I booked it....:sad2: We have stayed Club Level a couple of times and LOVE it, especially now that I am traveling with both of my kids who are "of age" to drink (yes, they still love to go to WDW with us:).

So, with two extra adults in the room and the Club Level service, I am actually spending a lot less than what I was for just the standard GV room...that's a win, right?? Honestly, I am so much more excited about this vacation now, and even though it's not the same price as the great travel agency deal, we are getting what we want for a really good discount. I am absolutely of the camp the you should always book the room you want.

On another note, I just looked at the rates on the website, and there is now LOTS of availability for the Summer discount for August!! Keep checking, and CALL CALL CALL, you never know what's going to be available!!

There are definitely benches and tables on the BoardWalk, not on the bridge.

This is a little off topic: We will be staying at the BWV and YC for our trip in Nov. Two of the places we like to go is Kona Café and Ohana. With the work that is being down at the Poly has anyone heard if either of these two restaurants will be closing? I'm assuming that work will also be done in the main building.

Its almost time for me to book my ADR's and don't want to book these restaurants if they are going to be closed? Has any had any problems booking these two for October?

Thank you for responding I do have a Disney Visa.

I have been reading a few threads on here about Beach Club CL. I am just so exited.

The one thing I have not yet found is what do you ask the IPO for. People have said that they have had magical things happen because if the IPO. I know they book your adrs but do they book your fast pass to?

I am looking for September 2015. I wish I could book it already

Honestly? I'd want to get on my bathing suit and head on down to Stormalong Bay the. Grab a bite at Hurricane Hannah's, along with a drink... ahhhhh

Like Dee said, Glide works fine. Now I just like to use longer shorts or capris.

Thanks,

I would definitely go club. Our family did the deluxe dining once and had to work so hard to eat all of the food. The food available club level for a quick breakfast in the morning and daytime snacks hit the spot. Finally, if you have kids, they may not want to spend as much time sitting in restaurants as we seemed to when using the Deluxe Dining.

You know your family best however. :) Take a vote and see what wins. :)

There have been reports that Kona will be be closed in the fall (some say permanently :sad1:) but they are accepting ADRs currently. I love Kona but I decided not to book it this time so I won't be locked out of other restaurants if Disney waits until the last minute to announce the closure (as they sometimes do). If you follow tikiman on Facebook, he is keeping up with all the Poly news and rumors.

I think 8 is old enough. I think that was about the age I wasn't quite the hawk parent. I would tell him, this is where you get in the slide, this is where I will meet you. If you are lost, find a lifeguard, but look for me here first. If you want to go anywhere else, you need to come tell me. Rule breaker gets a time out of the pool. Never had issues with either of my kids. They know my rules and consequences.
