This is the shortest trip ever for us. We are coming down Saturday after Jeff gets off of his third 12 hr night in the ER. We will have at most 1.5 park days as we need to get back on Monday. He will start back to work on Thursday night that week but we still have a week before our high schoolers spring break, our college kid (where the heck has time gone?) had spring break the first week of March when it was so stinking cold. I bullied the high schooler into coming with us and she really can't afford to miss more than one school day because of AP classes. Oh, and our actual 23rd anniversary is Sunday. This is all because I want to see F&G and also Electric Light Orchestra. Jeff and I were at the Poly in October for his birthday and F&W and as a family we were at PBH at Thanksgiving. That trip was a nightmare planning wise thanks to one in high school and one in college. No ones breaks are the same anymore. I figured that Kelly would get the whole week, well hello.... they only had 3 days. I made revamp after revamp to that ressie, and it's not as easy to do there as it is at WDW. We've started going without the kids as they've gotten older and it's gotten harder for them to get away. Kelly has a Bio test Monday so she can't join us. I thought about Amy's spring break but Kelly couldn't go then either. Also thought about when they get out for summer but that's not even the same. Kelly gets out like three weeks before Amy and will actually already be back in for summer session when Amy gets out. Oh and she's also considered a third adult in our room now too :'(

You need to do what I did in January and just go by yourself! ;) I totally understand what you mean about missing school, my high schooler can't afford to miss either. I hate being a slave to their schedules.

Wow, October! I was hoping it would be done by then for F&W over fall break. I wonder why they just don't move the lounge into a suite temporarily.

It will be moved to the Presidential Suite while the lounge itself is being renovated but when the rooms around the lounge ... all the rooms surrounding the lounge and elevators, the whole floor has to be shut down .... so no CL!!

When the lounge is being renovated, it will be moved to the Presidential Suite and since I heard that will be started first, the CL rooms will not be affected. When they start working on the fifth floor rooms, they will be working in the rooms that lead down to the Presidential and then the ones that lead down the other hallway ... rooms closest to the lounge and elevators. At that time, the entire fifth floor will be closed. Once that first area of rooms are done, they will most likely open up the rooms that are done and do the rooms the that are way down the far hall (5700's). That way, the done rooms will be separate and easy to get to and away from the ones that are not done. This is how it was done last time. However, this is a huge renovation ... hard goods ... so it's possible they will do the whole fifth floor at one time. We don't have the schedule yet but I'm guessing it will be like it was last time and the fifth floor will be done in two sections.

Ah ha! That makes perfect sense! :thumbsup2

I think I need to book a December BC CL trip so I can experience this amazing refurb!!! :)

Has the room preferences request changed? Last time ( in December) I was able to select "close to transportation" at the yacht club and had a very convenient room near the main lobby. Now when I go to pre check in I can only request high floor or low floor. Is there something I'm missing? Is there another way to put in a room preference other than on Mde?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for April

:cool1:

I haven't heard that the options have changed. Maybe someone who has stayed at the YC recently can comment on the recent advanced check-in options.

You can call Disney's Central Reservations Office and add "Close to Lobby/Transportation" to your reservation.

:thumbsup2

So I got a call today that Club Level will be renovated during my stay in October so I can no longer stay CL at BC. The options were to change to another BC room with no CL or move to YC Club Level. I think we are going to stick with Beach Club and just do a Pool/Lagoon view.

Wow, thanks for posting this! It sounds like the renovation schedule is in the process of being finalized.

That was news to me that CL rooms would be unavailable for a time, but Teena's explanation makes sense. You can't have guests walking through a construction zone, so when the rooms close to the elevator are being worked on, there isn't another choice but to close/cancel reservations for BC CL.

Well, we arrived today and have had a wonderful time already. We are also exhausted from waking up at 3am.

It is really nice to be back at the Beach Club. :lovestruc

Thanks so much for your report and your investigations!!! I am enjoying hearing about your trip and appreciate you taking some time to gather info.

:goodvibes

Happy spring!!! One season closer to our trip!!! I have question regarding my room request...we were originally at BC .. One of the reasons I choose BC was to be close to the IG...now we are at YC .. Much further from IG... So when I make my room request what do I ask for... A room closest to BC lol?

Dee I am sure you wouldn't be shocked with a date change....
YC SV CL 8/22 to 8/27 then WL CL 8/27-8/29 Gotta get my MK fix ;)

Teena Enjoy!!

Safe travels Erika:yay:

They said we could get a regular room at BC or change resorts. Fortunately, we were able to change to YC CL. We will be there 10/20-10/24.

I haven't stayed at YC yet, but my understanding would be to request a room close to the YC lobby to be closer to IG. We've always stayed at BC which is SO close but will find out how much further YC really is this summer.

It won't be done by then. I think you'd be safe by summer 2015 for fifth floor.

Thank you for the updates; does that mean in late August, we should be fine with regards to room renovations? Meaning that they're not going to boot us from CL.

We have used Easywdw and have always had a good outcome. We have never used Touringplans though so I can't compare. Plus Josh from Easywdw makes me laugh, oh and his information is free :thumbsup2. Hope that helps

Since I saw EasyWDW being discussed here in this thread I also started using it even though I currently have a touring plans subscription. I absolutely love the fact that he gets so much detail onto the monthly view of the calendar.

Fabulous! And as Lalabubbles said it's FREE! :cool1::cool1:

Just posted the other day that I finally bit the bullet on staying one night at the Beach Club after our Disney Cruise. It was a hard decision, because I wasn't sure if any discounts would come out for early August. Well, yesterday I got 25% off via the Summer Offer. I felt awesome! Then today, what arrives in the mail? A PIN! I called back and got an additional discount on top of the 25%. I feel so much better as this new price is a LOT less than what I'd originally booked for.

Congrats! Totally awesome, you will be able to enjoy it that much more. :cool1:

I'll see what I can find out.

Thanks for your live TRs! Have a great time!:cool1::cool1:

YC CL is nice!!! :wizard:

But that's interesting....I thought they would just move the lounge and not cause a disruption of the entire floor. :confused3

Teena, how long do you expect the reno to take?:)

SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: The kids are going to flip out!!!!! I can't believe I got a room, I can already taste the sunken treasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: Teena told me a month ago to keep checking, I was totally ready to give up yesterday (6 days prior to arrival) but then this morning I thought, oh what the heck I will give it one more try and BOOM there it was!!!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: Hurricane Hannah's, Stormalong Bay, Flower and Garden Festival, Beaches and Cream, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :love::love::love::love: 8 glorious days!!!!!!!!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Woooohoooo!!! Congrats!!!! Last fall I stayed at the Yacht Club club level which also has some so so reviews but was in fact very pleasantly surprised. Go for it! Everyone deserves a little spoiling now and then. :cool1:

Back from Animal Kingdom.... what a beautiful day it was!!!

I don't have any schedule for how long the renovations are going to take. Last I heard they were going to start on the fifth floor lounge, then the fifth floor, fourth floor, third floor, etc. I've been there thru two renovations but never for one this large so I have no idea. Depending on amount of workers, it could be faster, slower, etc. Please rest assured that the moment I have any idea of the length of time they anticipate it will take, I'll let you all know. I honestly do not think they know. Once they start, then they will have a rough idea of how long each floor will take.

I'm guessing that if they start on the fifth floor in October 2014, then by the summer of 2015 the fifth floor will be totally done ... actually I would think more than just the fifth floor would be done by the summer. Again, I'm only guessing but I promise to let you all know the moment I know anything for sure.

counting down now, guess I need to start getting everything together. Considering I have like five MB boxes I better decide which ones to take!
