(2014-2020) Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA + VILLAS Information & Questions

I have never seen the Electrical Water Pageant before but will be checking in for 3 nights at the Grand Floridian on December 15 so I'd like to see it. A few questions:

1. I have a lagoon view room. Will I be able to see if from the balcony? Does it make a difference whether I'm in Big Pine or Boca Chica? From the map you would think so since they face really different directions. If there are lagoon view rooms in other buildings, can you see the show from there?

2. If you can see it, can you HEAR it well from the room balcony?

3. If I don't have a good viewing/listening angle from my room, where is a good spot/spots to see and hear the Electrical Water Pageant at the Grand Floridian?

Thanks for helping, I searched around but couldn't find anything with this specific info.

if you have a lagoon view room you should definitely be able to see it. I'm not well versed with the different locations of the outer buildings but I'd imagine the closer you are to the water the more likely you'd be to hear it. I know by the boat dock you can hear it very well!

:cheer2: Single digit dance for me too :cheer2:

First stay at GF!!!

I had a dream last night that the view from our room was of the lagoon but from a slightly underground view, obstructed by trees :hyper:. Does this show how concerned I am about having my hopes up of a fabulous view across the lagoon? ( we do have a lagoon view booked )

Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Find the elusive "pas130" and her hubby, they will be there at the same time ;) There are a lot of little hidden touches in the lobby. It's so pretty there.

So I am single digit dancing

Yes, the rare Xipo will be seen out of his native habitat of the POLY.

Look for a long haired creature followed by his mate and 2 offspring.....

Hi all! Arriving next week. For the first time (after a few stays over a few years), we got a call today from the GF asking if we had any special room requests. I've never heard of this happening. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!!

Nope.

What room did you book? If club level or suite that would make sense.

Hmmm now I'm curious!

Carlton! A xipo-pas meeting would be cool! Maybe we can locate a Tash as well ;)

@pas130 although we say it is all about the food.......we pretty much skipped TS and concentrated on sampling the food of the world --- so many things we tried -- we made it a point to try NEW things this year and not go back to our old favorites. With that in mind, we enjoyed Patagonia's beef on a stick, Scotland's salmon and pancake concoction, the venison loin dumplings from New Zealand were outstanding, the Spicy hummus fries from Morocco were only so so -- fries really need to involve a potato, my favorite of all was from Belgium -- how can a guy not like beer brazed beef? Especially when it has cheesy mashed potatoes with it?

We sampled various beers and wines too - -but the Shoffenhoffer remains our favorite.

Enjoy your trip

Hi all:

We are headed down for Thanksgiving (Weds-Sun) and staying at the GF for the first time (myself, wife, son (9) and daughter (3)). This was something of an impromptu trip and we booked the GF simply because our TA had a great deal that we couldn't pass up. We've been BC/YC folks for our last few trips (usually spring break) so really know almost NOTHING about the GF/Monorail resorts and honestly haven't even walked around the hotel since I was a kid! But we're super excited to not only try out something new but get to do it during the holidays where I've heard amazing things about decorations, etc.

We have a standard garden view room booked and from what I can tell that puts us in the outer buildings. Are all of those buildings the same? I'm just thinking about room requests and can't tell if it really makes much of a difference at that category, especially with swimming likely only an ancillary concern (probably still default to the building closest to the newer pool/splash area if nothing else). But just wanted to check in with some "veterans" of the resort if there are any special considerations for any of the buildings with those category rooms!

Thanks everyone.

So much Food and Wine! LOVE!!! DH is super picky, he's a meat and potatoes guy, and all the booths were wonderful with serving the meat plain. Beef on a stick, yep we will be there! I also saw something about mussels from Australia. DH is the beer guy, and I love my wine. CHEERS! I also want to try the wine and champagne at the Grand. 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your upcoming trip! When we book Garden View, I always ask for Sago and a marina view - which is quite nice and considered garden view.

Big Pine is closest to splash pad, our last stai in August we had a GV, faced pool, and had a view of Wishes higher fireworks.
