Hi everyone! I was so excited to snag a pin code for Halloween and was able to upgrade us to the Grand Floridian!. It is our first time there and I had a question about Gasparilla Island Grill. We've stayed numerous times at the Contemporary and loved that they served turkey sausage for breakfast as we don't eat pork. We also learned we could ask for it at the Polynesian when we were there. Does anyone know if turkey sausage is available for breakfast at Gasparilla?

I can't answer the sausage question, but congrats on being able to get the upgrade. :)

I checked on the menu on Allears.net and looked to see if Gasparilla's had turkey sausage. There is no mention of turkey sausage available. Maybe you could call dining directly. I know that the hotels accommodate guests with dietary needs. Maybe one of those CM could answer your question.

40 days until we arrive at GF! We are doing 10 nights in GV room - part of me just wishes we could afford the upgrade to SL this trip but it just isn't in our cards - I have ordered plenty from Garden Grocer and will do an Amazon Pantry order too and we will just create the lounge in our room! I requested upper floor, no dormer room, and a monorail view - I'm a little nervous about our location for some silly reason - I know that we will probably be happy anywhere in the resort - but since we will be there for 10 nights I hope we get our requests! Last summer we had major pixie dust at Poly (upgraded to LV room over 4th of July!) and at BC (upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite) - so I am sure our pixie dust has run out!! haha! Anyway - just here to express my excitement for our trip and appreciation for all this thread provides. :-)

Call me crazy.....
We have a Package booked at Yacht Club (CL) November 16-23. Last night I was toying around and trying to add 1 day to beginning of trip. There is nothing available for YC, BUT, a Deluxe Main Bldg King CL showed up with a discount for the one night. I grabbed it and now just have to talk my husband into it. Very excited and kind of scared all at the same time. I have never done a split stay before. Hoping I made a good choice!

That is my favorite room. There are 2 categories to decide between. Ones on the 2nd floor with essentially a theme park view and a balcony, or the ones on the corners- turret rooms. My fav thing about the turret rooms is you can hear the band play in your room. We LOOOOOVE this. It's also very convenient to the lounge.

I am torn. Would LOVE a great view, but the turret rooms appeal to me too. This is a make up trip for a less then magical experience last year at AKL (CL), so I am trying to really WOW my husband this time since we originally were going to "skip" Disney in 2016. He chose YC which is fine with me, but when this room became available...I pounced. He has reluctantly agreed, but is not impressed with how much more it costs. I wonder if the trouble of changing resorts makes this worth it for ONLY one night.

So I guess you requested Sago? Hope we both get pixie dust, I'm sad no CL this trip either! But I'll just be happy if I get my requests! 14 days at GF, I can't be too sad, lol.

There is one room on floor 2 with a big tree in front of it so there wouldn't be a great view. When we have to change rooms or are staying someone pre-cruise, I put our first nights stuff on the top of the luggage so I'm not digging to get what we need that morning.

Well, then I'm crazy too! We had a bounce back package booked at the YC club level for September (our favorite Disney resort & room type). But then I kept thinking about how lovely it is in a king deluxe room at GF. The luxurious room, the view, the feeling you get sitting in the lounge with the band playing below you. :cloud9: Yep, found 1 with the summer discount so now we're doing 3 nights GF followed by 4 nights at YC. My DH was fine with it, but he never asks the cost of our vacations, lol. Since I handle the bills & savings, he just says " you know what we can afford"! Lucky me! I couldn't modify my bounce back, so I also had to find the YC at a new discount too. Ticket prices went up too, so my total is quite a bit more now. I thought long & hard about it, but i just couldn't resist. We have done split stays many times so that part was no problem.

I hope you love it! Or maybe not, coz then you'll want to go back!! :rotfl2:

Hi folks! Page 3 rescue - yikes! Well, I just might have some pixie dust coming my way soon so that a GF vacation could actually happen next July. Even though I have read that the GF is not what it used to be as far as service, food, etc., to us, there is no place like home and in Disney, it's the Grand Floridian. So, we are talking about staying in RPC, TPV. We love it. Since this may be the first vacation for us in 5 years, we are going to splurge!

For all of you planning on a trip next July at this very time, maybe I'll see you there! Fingers and toes crossed, and lots and lots of pixie dust!

Have a Grand day my friends.

Hi everyone! Yesterday I woke up in the GF and this morning at home - lol! We're just back from a long stay in Orlando for a conference (at the Marriott World Center) that concluded with 3 nights at the GF in a deluxe garden view room. This was my first time staying there and it was myself and my husband and two teenage boys (well one is 18...lol). I have some pics I'll try to post later if I can figure it out. Our room was in Conch Key on the 3rd floor with a view of the garden, a bit of the quiet pool and we could see some of the lake too - very convenient to the boat launch. I had to rent a scooter (another story) so I can't use the boat launch but the rest of the family said it was great for returning especially.

I was VERY impressed with the rooms - gorgeous and spacious and well appointed. No foot cream (I've seen that discussed here - lol!) but I asked for a million pillows and got them - they were very happy to bring us extra towels and pillows. My 18 year old slept on the fold down sofa and was comfortable - he loved having his own space there with the tv. The bathroom area is so large - loved that. The beds are fantastic - I would love to have kept one. The service everywhere was excellent and all the CM's were friendly and often greeted us as we walked by and were always helpful and nice to talk to - more talkative than other resorts. The grounds were beautifully kept and views everywhere were wonderful.

What were the downsides? The biggest for me was the door that went to the balcony had only a sheer curtain so in the morning the sun just came full on into that window and lit up the room and right into my eyes. My family knows how I love a dark room with the curtains closed for sleeping - and at the very least a semi-dark room - but it was way too bright to be comfortable. Honestly for that reason alone I wouldn't book that room again. Do the regular rooms have a curtain you could close all the way? It's not even something I thought to ask about as ...well...pretty much every place has curtains you can close to block the sunlight. If we'd had a longer stay I would have probably asked to be moved or if they could hang a regular curtain there - lol!

Overall the resort is gorgeous - pools are gorgeous - rooms are wonderful - people are friendly - it was a top notch Disney experience. I think for me personally I still love the Contemporary more - it has more of my sort of "vibe" to it (whatever that is - a bit more bustling, less floral, more modern, and I still love being able to walk or scooter to the MK). I also remember the CR from my childhood (only that and the Poly were there) and so it always tugs at my heartstrings. I've not stayed at the Poly yet (but just about every place else now - lol!) so I may try it next. My husband still prefers the BC/YC as his favorite - he likes being able to walk to Epcot.

Would I go back to the GF? You bet!! For the overall "Disney" feel and experience and the best of customer service - they had it in every area. Just like the people who post on this thread who are so very helpful with answering questions - top notch in every way - I thank you all much!

Selket, thanks for the report/update.

We've always been able to draw the main curtains shut so that the light does not come in the room. I've never stayed in a deluxe room, so I'm not sure I understand what the set-up is. Did the main curtain not cover the door as well?

Glad everything else was wonderful for you, though.

We are staying at GF for the first time in August in a deluxe garden room. Kinda bummed about foot cream(sounded terrific) and room curtains , maybe they were servicing them? Can't believe they would routinely have only sheers. My husband and dd(9) are late sleepers so this would be a definite bad day in the making with light streaming in. Thanks for your observations, can't wait for our first stay

I did it! Used online check-in first time ever for our GF arrival August 13. I couldn't decide between Sago and Boca Chica....requested them both! We shall see. Opinions???

I just don't want a dormer, was fearful of using upper floor as one of my requests. We had a dormer room our last stay, but had a lovely Theme Park view in Conch Key. Think the Garden View dormer would not be enjoyable. Getting close to the 4 weeks to arrival mark.:cool1:

I did ask for upper floor  with online check in, but on my resort reservation said no dormer. Here's hoping.

We had a one night deluxe room once and ours only had sheers on the door too.

Loved the room tho!

Can anyone tell me something about the Standard King Club Level Rooms in the Main Building?

On what floors are they located? What kind of views do they have? Do they all have a balcony?
