What a bummer about the beach! Maybe we'll head to the Poly beach to get some sun and sand instead.

And now time for me to do a dance because by this time tomorrow I should be stepping off the MDE at the GF! :yay:

Have a great trip :banana::banana:.

One more question about Narcoossee's. What do you (and your kids) usually wear for dinner?

We've never eaten at Narcoossee's, but for other signatures I wear capris or nice shorts with a casual shirt and flip flops. My DH and boys wear nice shorts and casual short sleeve shirts or tees :).

I was wondering that too I usually don't pack formal clothing so I was hoping I could wear a sundress or khaki shorts

No formal clothes needed, sundress or khaki shorts is fine :thumbsup2.

I will at Narcoossee's myself exactly 14 days from now and can't wait.

It won't be long :cool1:.

Hi everyone....thank-you all for posting such valuable info! Our family will be leaving on 6/29 and checking into GF Villas for 6 nights. This is our first time staying on the property and we are very excited! Does anyone know what nights they currently have movies playing at the hotel? Also, which nights they have smores/campfires? One more questions....there are a couple of days that we will be back to swim mid day. Is it worth it to book lunch reservations or just eat at the pool restaurant? We already have dinner reservations at V & A and breakfast and dinner at 1900. Thanks so much! Any other tips or info. would be greatly appreciated. We got our Magic Bands today in the mail so now this is all real :)

I can't help with the movies or smores/campfires, but wanted to say have a great trip. It won't be long before you're checking in :yay:.

As far as booking a lunch ADR, if it were me, I'd opt to eat by the pool or run over to Gaspies for a quick lunch :goodvibes.

Thanks everyone for your great information about Narcoossee's. We are really excited...off to pack!

Have fun packing. Safe travels tomorrow :wizard:.

I think movies are nightly, not sure about campfire. My kids are in their 20's! We like to eat at the Beach Pool when we are having a pool day. Nice seating area on the lake with umbrellas! I believe at that location the food is cooked there. At Courtyard pool it's brought in from Gaspys? I think.

I agree Sue There really needs to be more umbrella tables...there used to be alot more at the courtyard pool before the renovation...

Hey you!! Glad that you were able to pop in!! Your naughty family playing such a dirty trick on you!! lol...Looking forward to seeing you around here more!! :goodvibes Your trip will be here before you know it!!

Narcoosees is a family fave of ours! And I am thinking it will be one of yours after your dinner there ::yes::....should be no problem for your DD to order off the children's menu ( there is even a children's steak dish available)....BTW their NY strip steak is sooo good..as is the lobster bisque..creamy and delicious...and...almond crusted cheese cake with cherry sauce!!!! My mouth is watering!! lol..Its always about the food! Nice atmosphere and a terrific meal..Enjoy!!

There are only cabanas at the beach pool....none at the courtyard pool.....the contact info and costs as well as pics are on the very first page of this thread...in case of predicted bad weather you can cancel one day prior without being charged...also I do believe I have heard that if you cancel day of due to actual bad weather that people have not been charged...A cabana day is very nice..there are attendants who will bring you fresh towels..keep your ice bucket full and bring you drinks from the pool bar as well...you can also order lunch from the PD menu..so if you are looking to add to your pool day experience I would highly recommend some cabana time....we usually only do a half day..generally in the mornings and by afternoon have had enough of the Florida sun....:sunny: which ever you choose...pool time at either of the GF pools is a great way to spend some time at the resort....

A fave here too :thumbsup2....as I posted above...let me just say..almond crusted cheese cake....:cloud9:...that and the pretty view are worth a ressie there IMO!

Trish Wonderful pics!!! What a good DD heading over to the GF to give mom a photo fix! :goodvibes

Hope that all of my fellow GF fans are having a fab Friday! princess: preppy GF gal who is suddenly very hungry! :mickeybar

Dumb question Blue - but what is the "PD menu" you mention in your answer about the cabanas? I know there's Gaspy's and then the Beach Pool Bar and Grill but I'm not sure what "PD" is?? TIA!

Also, does anyone know if you can get WiFi by the pool? My DH may have to do some work and I'd like to coax him out to the pool to work if he has to get something done. I was also thinking about a cabana and thought at one point it said WiFi was available in the cabanas but after looking this morning I think I must have just read that there was a TV out there.

Happy Saturday!

I'm not Blue, but PD is private dining :).

I can't answer about WiFi, but I'm sure others will be able to help with that :flower3:.

How early will the boat from the GF to MK start running usually? We'll be there the week after Christmas and want to make sure we make rope drop at least a couple days. Assuming a 7:00 am EMH MK opening, when would we be able to catch a boat? Will they be running by 6:15?

The monorail will be running earlier than the boats usually. We always use the monorail for the 7am openings.

The Wi Fi worked at the main pool for us in March

That would be ideal, thanks. When making the reservation, the CM said that the monorail may be operating on a modified schedule, or something like that, which got me worried. But surely they wouldn't shorten hours during the busiest week of the year, right?

I know I said we were not going to GF for dinner, etc. so we wouldn't be sad (since we were at BC this time), but both my daughters decided they wanted to cancel the Garden Grill ADR in favor of a Narcoossee's ADR and Wishes!! I have to admit, I wasn't sad at all...it just got me more excited for our October GF trip! The ADR was for our last night at Disney (Friday), and DH and I got to talk to Pat (the band leader) and he had them play "Fly Me To the Moon" for me:) No other hotel makes me as happy as the Grand!image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

I'm sure you've all seen better pictures of the lobby and the band, but I'm just trying to get you guys even more excited! It's just SO gorgeous! The picture of the EWP was from our table at Narcoossee's. If you want a table by the window, you'll probably have to wait about 30 minutes, and you will probably end up watching Wishes outside anyway because people will stand in front of your table. But I like to have the view during dinner anyway. FYI, the Filet is incredible...I and DD16 get it every time. DD11 did order from the kids menu...grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. As for attire, I love to wear a dress to dinner, but if we are going over to MK after dinner, I will dress more casually, but still nice casual/dressy casual. BTW, we saw our first ever alligator in the water while waiting for Wishes!

You are right Sue ..the movies are nightly! Thanks for the info on the pool/beach side dining..and where it is prepared! :thumbsup2

No dumb question at all... I know that your question has been answered...just wanted to add that although there is WiFi at the beach pool it can be spotty...:badpc:

Thanks for that link baler ...:goodvibes KtP is a great resource...I use his calendars often when planning our trips ..for daily park recommendations (Easy WDW is great for this too...with lots of individual details!) and for ADR and FPP too...:thumbsup2...

Dispro Welcome back! :goodvibes Love the GF pics..You just couldn't stay away could you!!! lol...I understand! ::yes:: Glad that you had another great meal at Narcoosees...seems to be a fave in general on this board...I agree about the view..window side tables are soooo nice...until fireworks time...:faint: ...lol...

Hey MickeyNut :wave2:...

Thanks trishadono and mickeynut1 for the great lunch suggestions!

You're welcome :goodvibes.

Thanks Mickeynut and JVP! Good to know what PD means and that WiFi works by the pool!!

You're welcome :).
