We are staying at BC for the first time next week! We have a Standard View Club Level. I've seen photos of rooms, pre-refurbishment, and some have three windows. I think these are corner rooms, possibly rooms #5692 and #5648. I called today to submit a room request for a corner room and the CM concierge I spoke to said those rooms no longer exist after the refurbishment. ?? Do you think this is correct? I haven't heard that they were structurally changing the room configurations? Has anyone stayed in a corner rooms with 3 windows since the refurb? Thanks!!

I have a really random and very embarrassing :o question to ask on behalf of my DH. Maybe Teena is best to answer it, but I will ask all of you for your thoughts. Our family has been on many very wonderful WDW trips in the past 10 years. Like really wonderful, extremely magical, we've done things most people haven't been able to do kind of trips (like my dad won the Cinderella Castle stay and stayed with all the grandkids in the castle overnight kind of wonderful). That being said, our trip last year was horrible. Really horrible. We had the magicband disaster of all magicband disasters, and all of our fastpasses, ADRs, EVERYTHING were totally wiped out and could not be recovered. Furthermore, our bands did not work to get into our room, into the parks, we could not use meal credits for the DDP, couldn't charge anything to our room, etc. We spent over 30 hours in 2.5 days trying to get things straightened out, we had to sleep in our van one night because we weren't able to get access to our own hotel room, and we had to go over 15 hours without food or anything to eat because we (unfortunately believing everything was finally fixed after totally canceling and rebooking our vacation) accidentally left the room without a photo ID, cash, or credit card. We couldn't charge or buy anything, the resort couldn't let us in our room without verifying our identity, and nothing worked with our bands. We essentially had paid $7500 for our vacation to be stranded with nothing to do (couldn't get into a park or even our hotel pool), nothing to eat, and nowhere to stay. It was that bad! Anyway, there's a lot more to it, but that summarizes it pretty well. It eventually got worked out and we enjoyed the last 4 days of our week long trip, however, it wasn't pretty to get to that point. Our struggles unfortunately culminated in DH completely losing his temper in the lobby of the Beach Club. He really did. On our third day of dealing with this and after being ASSURED that everything was fixed for the fifth time, we went to our ADR at Beaches and Cream. When we finished and tried to pay for our meal, we were told that we had not purchased the DDP, had no dining credits, and our charging privileges had not been activated. I paid for our meal with a credit card, but DH wanted to use a dining credit since we had purchased the plan and were now half way through our trip and had been unable to use the plan yet. The manager seemed to understand and said that a resort lobby would be able to help us. The manager walked us over to the BC lobby and explained the situation to the staff. They got the manager, and she was wonderful at trying to help us. However, the end result was that we would have to pay for a cab to go back to our home resort to try to spend another full afternoon fixing our problems. We were out of cash, the manager refused to give us a voucher for the taxi, and we were once again feeling stranded. DH, who has never lost his temper in our 12 years together before this (or again since), lost it (remember that our family of 6 had spent the prior night sleeping in the van...it was crowded and we had paid a lot for the vacation that we hadn't yet used after 3.5 days and 30 plus hours at guest services trying to resolve). He yelled at the manager...very loudly! Then he kicked a garbage can and walked out. The Disney police and local police came, but since DH had already removed himself from the hotel, no action was taken.

Anyway, we spent another 9 hours trying to resolve the problems with our reservation and then finally carried on with our trip. Long story short, we are staying at the YC in 2 weeks and DH is afraid to go into the BC lobby. Should he be? I'm totally serious. He's really worried! He's such an even tempered guy and this has bothered him ever since it happened (last May in case any of you happened to witness this). I've told him not to worry, that it's unlikely ANYONE will remember this and I doubt they have his picture hanging up or anything:rolleyes1. But in all seriousness, he's freaked out and pretty much refusing to go into the BC under any circumstances.

I have a really random and very embarrassing :o question to ask on behalf of my DH.

First of all, I give him full credit for being so patient up until that point! Did you ever get any kind of compensation for all that you lost? Why couldn't a manager (and police?) go with you to your room, and watch you as you grabbed your ID and showed it that way? Hogwash. I would have blown my top as well!

As for your question, let's say he does get recognized. And the cast member will do, what? Give him a nasty look? Ask him to leave? I don't really see that happening, unless of course he causes another scene. If he really wants to put it behind him, I would see if that same manager was there and ask to speak with her. Apologize for the outburst but explain again why you were so upset. I feel like a sincere and humble apology mixed with a "but seriously, that was insane" could only help put water under the bridge and ease DH of all guilt.

Oh my Treemi01! Your poor DH! I think it's a testament to his character that he is willing to take a trip back following that debacle, and that he feels badly about his actions. He sounds like a keeper! I wouldn't worry that anyone would remember him, but any man looks less threatening in Mickey ears, so he could maybe go that route. :D Wishing you a very magical trip!

I agree with everything Hi Pluto said. I understand that your husband "went off the deep end," but under those circumstances, most people would! Personally, I am REALLY upset with the way Disney handled this! For one thing, I have had Disney hotels use hotel vehicles to drive us somewhere on two different occasions. Once, my husband was in the 1/2 Iron Man triathlon on Disney Property and was involved in a bike accident, so they drove me and the kids to Fort Wilderness to find him. Another time, we were simply not going to make it to Fantasmic in time due to an ADR running late, so someone drove us. Obviously, the first situation was much more dire than the second, but I can't believe they didn't offer to drive you back to your hotel after all you had been through! And I seriously hope you were compensated for what you lost! All the FP and ADRs! It makes me sick to think about it! I am SO sorry that you went through that, and I hope it NEVER happens to anyone again!

Wow, I would have lost it much sooner than you DH. Please tell me Disney refund the whole cost of your trip or something.

No, they did not. They gave us a small room credit (in proportion to the amount we had "lost" so far), and they booked new FP+ for us. We did have more than 3 per day because they took all of the FP+ we had booked and put them into the remaining days we had left. They were able to rebook our Anna and Elsa fastpasses, so that helped me relax a lot. We also had 7 days of dining credits to get into 3.5 days, so they helped us rebook some of those as well as add some more. We got to try some restaurants we wouldn't have picked, though, so that was kind of fun. There was no other compensation, but the rest of the trip was fun, so that's all we really cared about.

That being said, we are still a bit bitter. DH and I are going alone on this upcoming trip. We figure lightning shouldn't strike twice, and without the kids with us, it's not essential that everything go as planned. We figure we can always plant ourselves somewhere with a drink and relax. We aren't ready to take the kids again yet, though. If there's a decent BB, we may book another trip, but we still have hesitation, and my pre-trip nerves will never be the same again. If things go well this time, we may be willing to try again, but if not, we are good waiting a few years until they fix the bugs in the system. We will probably never recoup the loss of that trip, but we almost left after that fateful day, and I'm glad we stuck it out and made some good memories on that trip.

A little off topic, but with folks talking about the free dining rumors and booking their ADR's I have always wondered about something...

When there is a cancellation for a dining reservation, does that time slot immediately go back into the system? Or do they collect all the cancellations somehow, and reload them back all at once every now and then...(I thought I read that a few years ago, but if it was true then, I can't imagine with all the "new and improved" features we have now with the MDE App, it would still be true).

The reason I'm asking is that I was able to get all my ADRs on Sunday, but one is for a time that I'd like to change...unfortunately, there are NO times available, but I know that many folks overbooked their ressies and are still figuring out which ones to keep...once someone cancels will it show up right away? I have been checking obsessively for the better time slot, but so far to no avail...and I can just see myself turning into a robot looking for that one! :surfweb: I do have until October, but I know that things will get tighter and tighter as time goes on....

Worst thing that will happen if I can't change it is that we'll be eating dinner later than we wanted to, so it's not the end of the world!

Just popping in to say ---41 days!! (well -->44 til BC but still-41 DAYS TIL DISNEY:))

And - I survived my firstborn-she is 17 now-has her moments but I enjoy my daughter again (always love her but years 12-15...). Now starting with the 12 year old (I think it's worse when they are smart-my first response is always a smart a$$ remark instead of a "good parent thoughtful response" to some of her drama...has her Junior National Honor Society induction tomorrow night...really a good kid but she has given me more gray hair...). If I can survive 2 teen girl dramas please please someone tell me my sweet boy will not be crazy in the teen years ;)

Hello All my BC/YC friends!! It's been a very long time since I stopped in! Trying to plan our next vacation, and have been looking at all the resorts. But we keep coming back to our love of BC. And for so many reasons.....CM's, SAB, ease of walking to Epcot, boat ride to HS, the Boardwalk Swan and Dolphin with all of their dining options. I could go on and on.

Since this trip will be just the two of us, I was hoping for a king bed. How hard is it to get one? Are they only avail in certain levels of rooms?

I'm still looking for some better times for our ADRs this June so I always keep an eye on the ADR cancellation boards on here: http://www.disboards.com/forums/disney-dining-reservations.180/

Usually you can coordinate with another DISer so that when they cancel you can immediately pick up their reservation (provided you coordinate at an odd time...i.e. really early in the AM or really late at night). I've successfully given away a few! It's worth a shot!

I had a teen girl drama moment tonight. My almost 16 year old wanted to get together with some friends for dinner tomorrow night. I told her that they would have to reschedule because we have church on Wednesday night. She pouted and then stomped up the stairs. She then announced, "I would really like to slam my door now, but I won't." My DH and I completely cracked up once she was out of ear shot.

That's great news... :woohoo:

But not quite great enough...

My entourage will be at the parks June 9-11 :(

I'm sorry :( :( We will be in MK on June 9th...that's my daughter's 16th bday! We are doing Crystal Palace at 8am then probably chill in Frontierland right after that!

I have to disagree about things getting tighter as time goes on. It seems that the closer we get to that date when the FP+ ressies get made, people finalize what park or what area they are going to be in on a particular day and then go back and free up some of those meals that they have double booked. For example, I wanted a Cape May dinner on a Friday evening at 5:30pm for my last trip. Of course this is prime-time and it wasn't available when I was at the 180 mark. However, I just kept checking every day and wouldn't you know it, when we got within the 60 day period things just opened up and what I wanted was there. I'm sure the person that wanted that 7:30pm slot I had was just as happy to get it when I released it. Just keep looking. What you want for when you want it will open, all you need is a little of that Disney magic and some pixie-dust. Hope you have a great time.

We're finally in the single digit countdown!! I can't wait!

:woohoo:

:welcome:

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1. When is your trip? Aug?

:cool1:
Thank you for adding me pixiedust:...... I have a number I believe for concierge as we have stood on club here a few years back... Really want to get the full experience of the decoration in the resort. May call over there and see when they find out when there resort is going to be decked out. Couldn't hurt. For some reason the family wanted Nov.. not the first weeks of dec which would of been a shoe in for all to be up.....

FYI- think only guests with a current confirmed reservation on club level are permitted to use the direct phone number/email.

As Teena indicated, the CMs don't know until around late October or early November about when a particular resort will be decorated for the holidays.

Yes, a December trip (or anytime after Thanksgiving) would pretty much ensure that all of the resorts will be decorated.

:)

Less than 24 hours from now I will be checking-in to BCV!

Have a fantastic trip!!!

:woohoo:

We are staying at BC for the first time next week! We have a Standard View Club Level. I've seen photos of rooms, pre-refurbishment, and some have three windows. I think these are corner rooms, possibly rooms #5692 and #5648. I called today to submit a room request for a corner room and the CM concierge I spoke to said those rooms no longer exist after the refurbishment. ?? Do you think this is correct? I haven't heard that they were structurally changing the room configurations? Has anyone stayed in a corner rooms with 3 windows since the refurb? Thanks!!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I'm not sure about those two specific rooms, but I do know that 1 or 2 rooms were taken out of service with the lounge expansion.

I have a really random and very embarrassing :o question to ask on behalf of my DH.

*snip*

What your family went through is absolutely unacceptable. That guests at a Disney resort had to sleep in their car because of Disney technology that was not working is just wrong!!!

I'm sorry that your DH does not feel comfortable going to the BC lobby because of what happened, but I think he will be fine if he does end up there.

:grouphug:

So glad to see you again!!!

Let us know when you end up here. ;)

There are not many king bed rooms at the resort, but as far as I know, they are scattered in different room categories throughout the resort. You can certainly request one, though.

We will either be at MK or EP on June 9- the girls will be in one park and the boys in the other. We will be touring in smaller walking groups and in the morning will be with Disney Y.E.S. instructors.

That is just so funny. I (at 47) slammed my door the other night when my DD10 was being rather annoying
