I was on a thread earlier reading about whether or not evening EMH are worth it or not. I was pretty much hearing what I already thought.... They are good at MK, but not at the other resorts. I assume that is because MK EMH are often after midnight when a lot of people with young kids are asleep. So my question is this... When we are there in June, HS has EMH from 10-12am June 2nd. Are the waits for the good rides like RR and TS still over an hour this time of night? I haven't tried evening EMH at any park other than MK in a long time. We haven't done morning EMH anywhere for years because our kids won't get up anymore:(

Wow! Only 10 days till we check into the YC for the very first time! At last we get to stay here! Tomorrow I will be sending my room request. I have read page 1 of this thread, and looked at the Touring Plans room locator info, and I think I have confused myself as to what to ask for. So I thought I'd come here where all the sensible people hang out :rolleyes1 and ask for a little help in clearing my brain!) We have booked a GV. We want to be at the back of the hotel, the lake side...is that what it is called? If I said the back of the hotel would they understand? I am ideally looking for something that looks toward Epcot or the Boardwalk though I know that a lot of them are WV, but I know some GVs have views that peek that way. I am thinking maybe over the gazebo, but more toward the lake. But of course I would not want to be so specific of that that it would stop us being put into a room with even more of a water view if there was pixie dust blowing around. The view and balcony are probably the most important thing to us. I have no idea if I am making any sense  Touring Plan calls them NE facing rooms....if I put that on my request (along with Upper floor as we would prefer not to be on the ground) would that be enough of a description do you think? Thanks for anyone who has read and understood this!

It's also my birthday 2 days after we get there, so is it worth mentioning that to the hotel too?

Thanks for all your advise about the lazy river & pool table. Thanks to Sue for checking out the lounge, it sounds a lovely place to end the day at.

At the beach club the rooms that look straight at the lagoon are mostly standing balconies. Makes no sense to me but I didn't design the resort. If I had there wouldn't be standing balconies. The rooms looking at the quiet pool I think have some full balconies. I'll look into it more on Thursday when I return to work and let you know. :)
There are rooms on the 4th floor with Quiet Pool/Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin view that have full balconies.

A couple of my posts from earlier this year, include some room view photos, for this location:

The view was fairly panoramic, with really no roof obstructions.

I'm DVC so it works a little differently, but I called Member Services and said that it would be my birthday during my trip (actually the day after we arrived). When I checked in at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House, they asked if I wanted a birthday button. They have a sharpie and wrote my name on it. I put it on the front strap of my tote bag for the entire trip. It was fun to have random people wish me a happy birthday.

I have heard that you might get a free cupcake out of it, but I didn't get any freebies.

I never make room requests, so other people probably can help you better. But in general, I believe in using language that is as simple as possible. So I would call and say that my request is, "Facing Epcot or Boardwalk, not ground floor." I wouldn't mess with terms like "NE facing room."

The Room Assigners might be better than I am, but I don't even know which rooms in my own house face North East. I'm directionally challenged.

Your best your best bet is to call the resort directly. They can add the requests to your reservation. Contacting orbitz won't help because their comments never really make it into our system at the resorts. I can tell you we do our best to meet your requests, and don't get passive aggressive and give you the opposite of what you're asking for. That's our job as room assignors, to try to meet the requests you are asking for.
The catagory you book has a lot to do with your location as well as occupancy. Room assignment is like a huge Tetris game. When we are at high occupancy where we can put you depends on who is checking out the day you are checking in, and what rooms are available. We only block rooms about 5 days prior to arrival. So it really makes no difference how or when you book. But the important thing is that the requests are on the reservation. The best way to ensure that is to call the resort directly as I said (407-934-8000). What you are asking for is not unusual at all. We get that a lot. Just please remember requests are requests not guarantees. We do our best but sometimes we just don't have what you want available. I hope this helps!:)

Magical One - thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and spending time looking for answers. So much appreciated!!

Th room assigners definitely know what you mean if you say NE-facing room. In October, we stayed at the YC, water view. As TP suggested for our requests, we put high floor, SE-facing (meaning facing the lake and Boardwalk) and we got exactly that - what an awesome room it was!

What is the earliest time that the buses start running to MK? We have a couple of prepark ADRs that are right at 8am. What time should we be at the bus stop to be one of the first ones in line? Last trip we stayed at the CR so it was just a quick walk for us. So I'm not sure how much time I should budget. I couldn't find the info on this on the first post.

I have not been able to definitively confirm the time that buses start running in the morning. According to a few sources, the time the buses start running from the resorts to the parks is 6:30 to get guests there in time for early breakfast reservations. I think if you are out at the bus stop by 7 you should be ok. Even with a wait of up to 20 minutes and a 20 minute ride to the MK, both on the long side of normal, you would arrive by 7:40.

Hi all!! My family and I are staying at the YC with a garden/woods view room for the first time August 14-22. We are a family of 5. Are we guaranteed a room with a daybed? If not, where would the 5th person go? Would we have to get a rollaway bed and is there a fee for that? Thank you so much for any help.

Woot! Woot! We are less than 2 weeks away from our trip! I have a question about our split stay and 2 sets of magic bands. ( I really don't understand why both parts of the trip can't be on one set of bands. Seems like a huge waste of $$) We are at POFQ for 1st part of trip, taking ME to the resort, so I'm good with that part. However, on the day that we move to YC, then we need to start using the second set of MB's. Will we have to visit YC first to activate them, or will the 2nd MB 's be all ready to go the parks on that day? I really want to leave POFQ and go straight to a park, with bell services transferring our bags to YC. We have an MDE acct set up and I plan to do online check- in, if that helps. Thank you for any insight! :)

You can use both magic bands interchangeably. If you are on the dining plan for the second part of your stay, then you would have to check in at the YC to activate your dining plan. If not, you should still be able to go straight to the parks without checking in to the YC first.

We are back from exploring POR and POFQ. We also had fresh beignets, and took the boat to DTD from POFQ. We really thought that POR looked very nice. The DTD bus only only went to Yacht and Beach Club, if anyone is interested.

Tonight we are going to check out the Wishes fastpass viewing area after dinner at Trail's End. I'm looking forward to being able to see Wishes straight on rather than a partial or obscured view. I'll let you know how it worked out. :)

I also noticed on our MDE account that the room we are in is classified as a Lagoon or Pool view room. We paid for a garden view so I guess we got a free upgrade with our Orbitz reservation. Miracles do happen. :) I figured it might be a lagoon view, in spite of the tree, since I can see the lagoon. ;)

Lauren -thank you

I think we could be happy with the quiet pool/lagoon view. You know I NEED a full balcony and a nice view with my 5:30 am coffee while everyone else is asleep. Hope we see each other in August. I know Teena said she will be back August 30 and we don't check out until August 31. So maybe a Dis Meet! If course lady year's meet will probably always rank as #1!

:thanks:That's a relief! Straight to the park it is!
The interchangeable part has me scratching my head. Why send the second set then? :confused3 Oh well, I am quite excited to decorate both of mine. I'm going with a HM theme on one and a flower theme on the other. DH just wants plain blue and plain red.

Hi! Can someone who has done a split stay between Disney and US give me some options for transportation? With all our luggage I'm not sure what my best option would be? We'll be leaving the BC on 8/27 early in the morning to check in to HRH for one night. Thanks! Four more months!

They send one for each resort reservation. Not sure why but they do. I currently have 4 that I'm going to bring on my upcoming trip, 3 from a split stay on my last trip and they sent me one more for my upcoming one. Guess they have an unlimited number of bands that they produced so they continue to give out one for every resort reservation booked.

Thank you, so, so, so much Magical_One! I just called that number which did take me directly to some one who could help me. She did say that I have to wait a little while longer to put in my requests because I'm still just about a month out from my stay, but she gave me a date to call back, and said that even though I booked the reservation through a third party, that she will be able to put in my room requests at that time. Thank you!!

There is a thread in the Universal Sub forums that discuss the various transportation options between Disney and US (and US and MCO). I'll edit in the link in a bit.

US/Disney Transportation

We have personally used Ed Korgan Travel 3 times for transportation between MCO and US ($95 round trip plus tip) and Disney/US ($85 round trip plus tip, not sure what the one way price would be for either of these trips but you could email to ask.

Other options are Mears Shuttle, taxi, Uber and other private transportation companies.

PS- we LOVE the Hard Rock! A BC/Hard Rock split stay is definitely the best of both worlds.

:woohoo:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

:cool1:

My understanding is that families of 5 are given priority for a room with a daybed. That is, if there are two families checking in, one with 5 members and 1 with 4 members who have requested a daybed and there is only one room with a daybed when you are checking in, then you would get that room. In the (hopefully rare) circumstance when the resort is fully occupied and there are no rooms with daybeds available then yes, you would be given a rollaway cot since you need to be placed in a room that legally sleeps everyone.

Unless something has recently changed, guests of the BC and YC resorts are not charged for the use of a rollaway cot.

:goodvibes:
