GOOD MORNING BEACH CLUB PEOPLE!
:cat:Did we move to a 'New Board'? I'm showing no post since 8:45 last night?:cat:
Say it ain't so! I know a lot of us have Boardwalk trips planned but gosh,
don't forget from who brought you to the dance!

Good morning! I hope we haven't moved threads yet because I won't know how to find the new one! It seems the whole weekend has been light on replies which is bad for me because I use this to escape the harsh reality of life...my Grandma had to go live with my aunt a few months ago, and she is back home now giving away most of her things:( I NEED the Disney bubble right now:) I can hardly wait to get there!

I haven't posted much recently and I haven't seen a new board, but I've got other troubles on my mind...our soon to be 16 year old daughter and I had a HUGE fight and I had to take away her phone. This trip we are taking (in 46 days!!!) is for her sweet 16 and right now I feel like canceling the whole thing...GRRRRR. I have caught her multiple times staying up until 2am texting her California friends while simultaneously trying to finish up her homework.

Trying to find my laughing place now.....

oh yes, I can remember those days...but they will pass...

I can also remember when my daughter was around 18-19 how she came up to me one day and hugged me and said "Mom, I am so sorry!" I get tears just thinking about it. Now, she has a child of her own, and we are closer than we ever were...Hang in there, Mom and Dad....they do grow up - sometimes too quickly! And the kid who at 16 was a challenge and didn't understand the "Family Disney" thing, now can't wait to take her own family there for her son's first Mickey trip!

I remember my mom baking me a cake for my 16th bday and I had said I didn't want anything, it was no big deal, etc....now I know as a parent what a "big deal" it was! We don't always see eye to eye to put it mildly but having my own daughter now makes me realize how awful I was. Kids can be the worst. Good luck. :flower1:

I get tears just reading your post, jlundeen!! Thank you for the confidence boost :) We love our daughter so much and she is the big Disney nut in the family so not doing this trip would be a catastrophic disaster for her! I'm sure things will improve and we will have our happy trip to WDW.

My laughing place is right here in this forum!!!

Thank you, so, so, so much Magical_One! I just called that number which did take me directly to some one who could help me. She did say that I have to wait a little while longer to put in my requests because I'm still just about a month out from my stay, but she gave me a date to call back, and said that even though I booked the reservation through a third party, that she will be able to put in my room requests at that time. Thank you!!
Hello DrGirly, could you share the date the CM gave you to call back for your room request? We are arriving May 30, and I was wondering when I should call.
Thanks!

I totally feel your pain! My daughter is 16 1/2 and thinks she knows everything! If they are so smart, why do they stay up so late? Fortunately for me, my daughter hasn't done the 2am thing lately, but it's still midnight when she goes to bed, and then she is late to school all the time! And she thinks she can handle Med school someday?? She's going to have to get her act together. And then I have an 11 year old daughter coming up behind her...ugh! Teenage girls are such a pain! I hope your life gets easier soon. And I hope you don't cancel your trip...it would probably be good for you:)

To all those parenting teenagers hang in there! One day in the hopefully not to distant future they will turn back into the beautiful human beings you brought into this world and you will sigh deeply and raise a toast to yourself and them knowing that love does indeed conquer all!! 2 down 1 to go in my case lol.

For those of us dealing with teenagers, remember that there never was an age limit assigned to dropping off children to the authorities as unwanted. I frequently make pronouncements such as "Get in the Car!!! I am turning you in to the authorities as an UNWANTED teen!!!!"

That is the final step after the electronics are unplugged and phone is confiscated. Confiscating the phone usually does the trick as it is the ultimate teen behavior penalty. When we get to the drop off stage you know somebody is having a bad day.

Some days Ninja Mom drives by the police department and looks longingly at the building....

Questions for all you Beach/Yacht Club experts...(and I apologize if these have been answered already, but this thread is 259 pages long, so....)

We are planning a Feb 2016 trip, and I think we are going to stay at the BC or the YC. We are unsure which one, though. We are a family of 4, and will have a 6 yr old and 3 yr old with us. I think I like the looks of the BC better, but because of the little ones, I think a balcony that hubby and I can sit on when we put the kids to bed might be nice. Most meals will be out and about, but we are not big breakfast eaters, so we will eat it in our room most mornings, but if we wanted to grab something quick on our way out in the morning, the only CS is at the BC, right?

So, if we want a balcony, we are better going with YC, right? Is it that far out of the way to swing in for breakfast on our way in the mornings at the BC?

Last question, if we are hoping for a room discount, is there equal likelihood at both resorts?

:sunny::sunny::sunny:Getting ready for our stay in August..5-11. I think we are ready for the crowds and plan to hit parks at rope drop and take a break after lunch each day to avoid the heat. Celebrating with 3 kids(Disney adults) our 20th anniversary and big 5-0's...is it ever possible to ask for (and pay for) an upgrade to Club level on arrival? Was hoping to pinch pennies and surprise hubby if it would be available...we will be happy in our current room, but does it hurt to ask?

You all are scaring me!my 13 and (almost) 11 year old girls are still so sweet!

Don't worry. I am still very close to my daughters, and they are still sweet most of the time...they just have their moments! Not really the 11 year old so much right now, just the 16 year old. It's just that struggle for independence...wanting to be in control of their own lives but not being old enough to truly make wise decisions. Every kid is different too. You may not have any problems at all! And mine are always angels at Disney! That's why I love it so much:)

You are correct, YC has balconies. BC roughly 50/50 chance of balcony. But the resorts are undergoing a long term rehab (read page 1 of this thread), which means YC will probably be in construction for your Feb. 2016 trip. That might make BC a better pick. Normally, the discounts seem pretty even for YC and BC -- but with the ongoing construction, there may be fewer YC rooms available, which would result in fewer discounted YC rooms too.

The marketplace is only a 5-8 minute walk from YC ('cause you can walk outside to get there) so I would not let that push my decision.

PS- we LOVE the Hard Rock! A BC/Hard Rock split stay is definitely the best of both worlds.

:woohoo:
This is my thought too.....Dee grab the "eraser" and add a night onto our trip...I felt the need to call and see if Hard Rock had a CL suite like the one we have at Portofino....and yep they do, with the AP rate, but alas only for 8/20-8/24....awwww

So now we get an extra BC night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/13-8/20 YAY!

For those with teenagers....
My DS14 is still overall sweet, but yep taking away the phone is the worst ever for him and I can usually even get an "I'm sorry" out of him. I am actively working on a potion to keep all children away from the tweens (which I think is where it starts). Therefore, the idea is they magically skip 12-18 years old :)

I don't have any actual teenagers yet (my oldest is only 12). I just get the attitude on occasion. She's an amazing kid the vast majority of the time. We have been blessed/cursed with a relative who has made so many colossally bad parenting decisions (got my niece a tattoo for her 17th birthday is a recent example). I use these as teaching moment. As in "I don't have an issue with tattoos. But you have to really think about what matters and whether it will still matter in ten/twenty/thirty years. Remember your Dora phase? Imaging having Dora and Boots tattooed on your side for the rest of your life."

That sundae looks really good. I hope it's available at the take out window.

amylevan, I don't know the answer about discounts - for some reason, I thought there was less availability at the YC because of the convention side of things? But that could be completely wrong. We love having a full balcony. I'm really hoping we get one this stay (we're booked at the BC). If the balcony is really important to you, I would probably book YC because you have a 50% chance, I think, of getting one of the dormer-type balconies at BC.
