Are there rooms on the 5th floor that are not concierge and standard view? If so approximately how many?

When we went to check in to the CR yesterday, a CM greeted us outside and instead of taking us to the Atrium CL on the 12th floor as we had originally booked, she took us to the 14th CL floor. Upon checking in, we learned we received some crazy pixie dust and were upgraded to a 2BR suite!!!! OMG, this suite is just amazing and we're still in shock!

We'll be checking out shortly and moving over to the YC CL and have to admit that I may be leaving kicking and screaming :lmao:.. What a start to our anniversary trip:love::love:

Ooh - congrats! That's wonderful!

So this isn't YC/BC related, but I took my three older kids to Disney on Ice today. We've seen a few before and while my kids love them, I'm never that impressed by the show. The skating is great, of course. But there's very little plot and it's more along the lines of "Look! It's Mickey! And here's Ariel!" Just a few minutes of skating from each character and they trot out some random Disney villain who scares the bejesus out of one of my children. Well, this was a shortened retelling of the movie Frozen. Even having seen it a gazillon times, I really enjoyed the show.

Could someone tell be how the buses are specifically to MK and DTD!? I am thinking about booking for next October:) Thanks!

The busses come to the bus stop outside of the BC and they are identified on each bus which park or DTD they are going too. The ride to AK was not long and we didn't wait much either direction. I didn't go to DTD when I was there. We go to FL often and when we aren't lucky enough to be going to WDW that is when we go toDTD. We never go when we are in the resort.

Don't you love that CR pixie dust?? We had almost the same thing happen a few years back. Was expecting the Atrium Club folks but were surprised to be met by the Tower club crew. One bedroom suite for us, which was great as we were staying for like four nights, totally spoiled our two girls though. That had been our be all end all upgrade until our last stay, at BC for our anniversary this past March. Checked in for a quick three night stay with our younger daughter. Magically upgraded from standard view room to two bedroom suite. DD was ecstatic, she had basically her own hotel room, which she proceeded to taunt our older daughter with (she stayed home due to college classes).

Hi all
My mom daughter and I will be traveling from Australia next August 17-26 for a vacation at the BC - woohoooo

Happy planning

Absolutely! I just need to save the money to buy it first!
:banana:Yay I'm on the bus (even if it isn't quite bought yet lol):hippie:

We just did it - we booked our stay from 09/25/2015 to 10/02/2015 in Beach Club!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks to all for all the helpful information and advise!!!!
Glad you are all booked in :thumbsup2 Happy planning:banana:

12 days until we check in for our first YC stay! Quick question about the Captain's Grill - it seems that day-of reservations may be easy to get for there. True? We are thinking of doing breakfast there but will need to wait until that morning to see if we get ourselves out of bed earlier enough! We have so many action packed days and I don't want to commit to an ADR there if we don't have to! TIA!

We never had any problems getting in on the day :thumbsup2
Congratulations. Now all the fun starts with planning the itinerary, the meals, the fast-pass selections, even the color you want your magic bands to be. Enjoy and we look forward to your posts and questions over the next 11 months.

What I really want to hear about are your plans when you have them settled on your drive down from Washington DC. That sounds really exciting. You could probably pick up a couple of the DISers on this thread on your way to help you drive. There are a few that wouldn't mind helping out I'm sure!

Katesdad
Me too-can't wait to hear all about your travels :car:

I'm excited to finally post on this thread! :wave2:

I'm booked at the BC, Aug. 16-20 next year. I'm so excited!!!! Can't wait! :woohoo:

:cheer2:Happy planning!

Buses to both of these places run fairly frequently and take about 20 minutes from what I recall. Buses BACK from DTD are a nightmare and I would avoid if at all possible. We have learnt the hard way (70 minute journey most of it sitting on a stationary bus) and we now take a cab. Best $20 dollars I've ever spent!

Checked in to BC today at 830 am. Room request was king bed. 10am got the text room ready. 1230 our keys didn't work, went to front desk to see why and it turns out they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite water view club level!!! The Lounge is on the 2nd floor and doesn't offer hot foods at this time
:woohoo:

If all of the BC guest rooms on the 5th floor are blocked while the refurb progresses, is there any difference in the crowds at the BC in the public areas, SAB, lines at the Marketplace, concierge desk, buses, etc.?

I would think that with about 15%-20% of the rooms not being occupied, there would be a visible difference.

As the restaurants are patronized by many, not just BC guests, the restaurants are probably as busy as usual.

Interesting question. Don't know the answer, though.

:)

Looks like our good fortune continues.

Checked in to the YC earlier today and was expecting a garden view CL which is what we booked. Well, we were pleasantly surprised to have received a King bed, pool/lagoon view!! I have to say the room is in very good condition and is very clean :). CM's have all been very nice and we were even surprised with a knock on our door from a CM delivering balloons and chocolates along with a signed anniversary card from Mickey & Minnie.

It's official...I'm now spoiled :):).

So happy for you!!!

:goodvibes

Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread!

Let us know if you book and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:)

My experience with the buses to MK has all been in the summer months, very early morning (7:30 to 8 am), there is always a bus arriving within 5 minutes, the trip is 12-15 minutes.

The bus to DTD has been ok for us, usually in the later afternoon (4-5 pm), 20 minute ride.

We do NOT take the bus from DTD to the resort. Listen to the warnings! We either take a cab, or if we want to go to EPCOT first before returning to the Beach Club, we take a boat to a DTD resort, then a bus to EP. Not a quicker way to travel, but very pleasant.

::yes::

We switched from the Wilderness Lodge to the Yacht Club last week after receiving an awesome pin code.

Could you please add us to the Be Our Guest list? We'll be there May 25th-June 3rd.

This is our first stay at any Epcot resort. We're so excited we chose the Yacht Club!! :yay:

Happy to add you to the list.

My family safely made it to the Beach Club yesterday. After 3 stays at GF we are in LoVE with the beach club!!!! GV room has the most amazing view of lagoon and boat launch, room was quiet and peaceful, kids swam in SAB until 11PM last night, seafood roll at Hurricane Hannah's was to die for, picky DH found new outfit at YC men's store he liked, slept like a baby... And we met Teena!!!! BC knocked socks off this GF staying family in just a few hours. Oh yeah, we made it to DHS too and did TOT, TSMM, frozen show ( which was awesome) and dinner at Sci Fi. Saw illuminations on boat ride home, like it was choreographed for our particular ride. Now off to Cape May for breakfast and EPCOT.

I haven't been on here in a couple weeks so maybe old news.

It's not obvious to me if this is simply what has been discussed on this forum for the past few months or if this refers to more extensive renovations.

Thanks for posting this!

I think this refers to the renovations we have been discussing, and my interpretation of this, based on the time frame mentioned (20 months) is that this includes the work that will be done at the Yacht Club once the BC is finished.

Just my guess based on the length of time it took for previous renovations.

:)

If you have a view of the lagoon and the boats, that is a LV room. If you had a GV room booked, it sounds like you got some pixie dust and were upgraded! pixiedust: Congratulations!

We booked last spring for the first week of Feb 2015. I've been following this thread and the refurb info and have not really been worried about it. sounds like it is usually contained to one area and won't really affect the other guests. Today, a TA on a facebook page is announcing that a "major refurb" will be taking place this winter, similar to the poly refurb, and is encouraging people to not book/change their reservations! What do you guys think? Has there been more information announced, or will it still be manageable? My main concerns are ease of access to Epcot/HS, and the pool (I know it might not be warm enough to swim but I'm crossing my fingers that at some point in the 10 days we can swim!)

Here is the last line of that link above:

It is expected that the resort will remain in operation during the work, with affected areas closed off, in a similar way to how the Polynesian Resort is currently operating during its remodel.

As far as I know, the renovation to the Beach and Yacht Club resorts will be interior work. I think the way this reads is misleading and will lead people to believe the work at the Beach Club is going to be more extensive than it is.

Rooms/hallways will be taken out of service while the work is done, but I don't think there is any major construction or destruction planned.

If I hear anything different, I will post it here, and on Page 1.

:)

Edit to add: this article all mentions all public spaces of the resort will be refurbished. I have heard conflicting reports of work on the lobby- I think there will be some work done there, but then again, I think the furnishings in the Beach Club lobby were recently changed out. Not sure when, or if, the lobby will undergo a big-time remodel.
