I just wanted to post that my experience before our trip with YC/CL has been very positive. I had a couple of questions, and they really went the extra mile to help make sure our trip goes smoothly. Looking forward to checking in soon! :dance3:

When we went to check in to the CR yesterday, a CM greeted us outside and instead of taking us to the Atrium CL on the 12th floor as we had originally booked, she took us to the 14th CL floor. Upon checking in, we learned we received some crazy pixie dust and were upgraded to a 2BR suite!!!! OMG, this suite is just amazing and we're still in shock!

We'll be checking out shortly and moving over to the YC CL and have to admit that I may be leaving kicking and screaming :lmao:.. What a start to our anniversary trip:love::love:

What an amazing upgrade! Congrats!

Hi all

Just caught up on the new thread. It took me quite some time!

Our first visit to BCV is fast approaching so I thought I'd ask a few questions whilst I remember...

1) DH is running the WDW marathon, which is the same day we check out of Kidani and into BCV. Should we request a late check out at Kidani or try for an early check in at BCV?

2) Has anyone got any info on room requests for a BCV studio?

Thanks :)

How is the humidity? I arrive next Sunday and am debating if I should pack for HOT and icky, hot or warm.

I have a question for anyone who got the TA "magical deal" this year. What kind of room did you get?

I know it's standard view and I am very happy with just that. I'm happy to just be at the BC!!!!!

I've heard some people say you get what's available and they've gotten water view and garden views.

When it gets closer I will put my requests which will be full balcony and day bed. If we don't get those I'll still be happy.

I'm not hard to please.

Happy Anniversary. Awesome upgrade. Enjoy it.

When we stayed at BC in June 2013 Drew Brees and his family were there as well. They were just a normal family with tired and excited kids. We shared an elevator and I chatted with Drew briefly. He asked if I was a Saints fan and I said "NO" with quite a bit of conviction. His wife seemed to think that was pretty funny.

When I got back to our room I told my wife about meeting him. She was enjoying the Beach Club but was still a bit grumpy about her experience trying to get laundry done that day. She had a vague idea of who he was and remarked: "Well, I guess if this place is good enough for him it's good enough for us". LOL

We saw them a few other times around the resort enjoying the pool and such. I was pleasantly surprised that no one seemed to be bothering them our hounding him for autographs. They seemed to be having a great time and so did we!

If I have not welcomed you to this thread yet...

:welcome:

Thanks for sharing that story.

I'm glad to hear that Drew Brees and his family were able to enjoy their stay without being harassed by other guests.

Teena I just want to express my thanks that you take time to post logical, reasonable, joyful, kind.... I just look forward to seeing you respond to so many posts!

With all the hysteria over ebola (which I am way more concerned with whatever is taking ahold of children! some paralysis, all breathing problems!) I HATE to run amok here with my worries...

 I'm going to be at BCV during June! :scratching I thought for sure it would have no impact on "our" visit.... :joker: Crazy me!

So thank you for updating, I promise not to run like a chicken with her head cut off, and I know, thanks to your cool, calm, posts that all will be well, and we'll be where we want to be... its been too long (Jan '12 for dh and me, MUCH longer for dd) since we've been in the magic... :wizard: It will still be there! (because of beautiful people like yourself! Thank you! :worship:)

What a nice post!!!

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list. I'll add you for June.

:cool1:

I just read this on another site Orlando Theme Park News: Hopefully the info here is wrong!!!

Teena what do you think???

One of the most luxurious Walt Disney World Resort hotels will soon receive a major facelift that should last almost two years. In fact, Cast Members working at various locations around Disney's Beach Club Resort have recently been alerted about a major refurbishment project. The official advisory stated that the hotel would be "undergoing refurbishment through the next 20 months." If you plan on visiting the hotel, make sure to take note of this.

I know Teena gave some insight. Based on my understanding of the planned work, and the timeframe for completion of the prior refurb at the resort, I would say the 20 month figure sounds more like the length of time to renovate the rooms at both the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, not just the Beach Club.

Again, not really based on anything officially published, just my opinion.

:)

Hi all
My mom daughter and I will be traveling from Australia next August 17-26 for a vacation at the BC - woohoooo

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Please let us know if you have any questions.

We just did it - we booked our stay from 09/25/2015 to 10/02/2015 in Beach Club!!!!

:cheer2: x6

Thanks to all for all the helpful information and advise!!!!

Congrats! I'll update your info on the list.

12 days until we check in for our first YC stay! Quick question about the Captain's Grill - it seems that day-of reservations may be easy to get for there. True? We are thinking of doing breakfast there but will need to wait until that morning to see if we get ourselves out of bed earlier enough! We have so many action packed days and I don't want to commit to an ADR there if we don't have to! TIA!

That has been my experience on my two stays at the YC and from what I've been reading on this thread of the experience of others over the years.

I agree. I would say with a fair amount of confidence that you would have no problem just showing up for breakfast.

:thumbsup2

Congratulations. Now all the fun starts with planning the itinerary, the meals, the fast-pass selections, even the color you want your magic bands to be. Enjoy and we look forward to your posts and questions over the next 11 months.

What I really want to hear about are your plans when you have them settled on your drive down from Washington DC. That sounds really exciting. You could probably pick up a couple of the DISers on this thread on your way to help you drive. There are a few that wouldn't mind helping out I'm sure!

Day IV - Friday

Mother Nature is Still Smiling ~

Enjoyed a relaxing morning on my own, while DH and DS's played at Typhoon Lagoon. I decided to head over to DHS on my own around 11:00. I entered DHS (through bag check and band check) exactly 20 minutes from the time I took a seat on the boat.

DHS was buzzing! I enjoyed an early lunch at ABC Commissary, their Asian Chicken Salad was delicious...then headed over to The Great Movie Ride, love this ride. DH & DS's left TL at 12:25, made it back to YC, changed, then a boat ride to DHS, to make it in time for our 1:35 FP+ for Indiana Jones! I asked them if they felt like they were on the amazing race...lol. DH made it into Indiana Jones as an extra, which delighted our youngest DS, and terrified our older DS! The stunt show was Spectacular. DH & DS's rode Tower of Terror (twice), I opted for Muppets 3D. We stopped to cool off at Scoops (generous portions), then made our way to Beauty and the Beast. We utilized the FP+ kiosk for the first time, and rode The Great Movie Ride together. The ride had an alternate version, slightly different from my morning experience. It was a nice surprise!

Dinner at 50's Primetime Cafe was a blast, from start to finish. Our server, Carole (from Queens, NY), played the perfect part...."set the table", "elbows off the table", "no phones, it's family time"....etc. Our dinner was delicious, and we really enjoyed our experience. It was 8:00 by the time we finished, we headed for the boats...

We could see Hocus Pocus playing on the beach. I was too tired to attempt watching, I may have fallen asleep on the lounge chair. Our room was all made up and inviting. There was an Elephant towel animal, with sunglasses on this time, on one of our beds..DH & DS's hit SAB until about 10:00.

We slept until 9:30 on Saturday, wiped out....to be continued....

Love your reports!!!

:yay:

Can anyone tell me about the toiletries at BC? This is our first stay and not sure what goodies are provided. Would like to save space in the suitcase and cut out what's provided for free!

This is what was in our room in August. Sorry it is a lousy picture. There was shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion.

We really enjoyed our stays at Beach Club there were a couple of things I think could be improved upon:

1. We really enjoyed our time at SAB like everyone else. The one issue was every time we tried to eat at HH's it was almost impossible to find a table. We tried everything we could think of: eating at off times, waiting until we saw an open table before ordering. Well, nothing worked. I believe there are less than 10 tables right there by HH's. There are plenty of other tables spread around the pool area. The problem was that no matter what time we were there other guests were using the tables as storage areas for towels, cloths and sun screen. We rarely every saw anyone eating at the tables - just plopping their stuff down and leaving. One afternoon we sat in lounge chairs next to a group of 3-4 tables. For the 5 hours we were there the stuff sat on the table and no one returned to the table to use it in any way. I asked the CM's in the pool area and at the desk if there was any way they could make sure the tables were available for people to actually eat. I was told there were adequate tables next to HH's (this was obviously not the case) and that the other tables were provided for all guests use. I would like to see the tables grouped together with signage saying "for use of dining guests" similar to the signs I have seen at the water parks.

2. The other issue we had was the layout of the Market Place quick service area. Each time we went there the line was only about 6-7 people but it took us nearly an hour to get our food. Once you did get your food it was basically a free for all to get to the payment counter. Because of the layout you really could not stand in line for a register without being in someones way. Other guests were clearly frustrated with the slowness and poor layout and would basically just jump ahead of people so they could pay and get out of there.

Both of these issues have a lot to do with what I believe to be poor behavior by other guests but I think the BC could be more pro-active in making both the QS locations more convenient and efficient.

That is great feedback. Did you or would you send these observations and suggestions to the manager of the Beach Club? They really do take guest comments seriously.

Who can I contact if I have concerns about something during my vacation, I have a great suggestion or better still, to compliment something wonderful about my trip or to recognize a CM who helped make my stay magical?

Comments, Compliments or Complaints:

After you have returned home from your stay:

email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:
Walt Disney World Guest Communications
Executive Offices
Post Office Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

If it is a comment specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, you can write to the General Manager of the resort (perhaps copy Guest Communications as well):

Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

If all of the BC guest rooms on the 5th floor are blocked while the refurb progresses, is there any difference in the crowds at the BC in the public areas, SAB, lines at the Marketplace, concierge desk, buses, etc.?

I would think that with about 15%-20% of the rooms not being occupied, there would be a visible difference.

As the restaurants are patronized by many, not just BC guests, the restaurants are probably as busy as usual.

I'm excited to finally post on this thread! :wave2:

I'm booked at the BC, Aug. 16-20 next year. I'm so excited!!!! Can't wait! :woohoo:

Last time at YC I had a standard room (Aug) the resort was full but my girlfriend arrived around 5 days after me, and she got upgraded to a room by quiet pool. It was a long trek to her room, YC quiet pool is way in the back, but she was close to seceret entrance near Dolphin end.
My room was a standard view over Portico in front, and close to lobby elevator.

Pool lounge/table hogs are a common complaint at all the resorts sadly. People seem to think it's ok to go down to pool, plop their stuff on lounge to reserve places, then leave for a park. I thought I heard the lifeguards were removing things left for long periods of time. I sympathize with your frustration.

It would be nice during busy times for the QS area of Marketplace to have a dedicated cash till where you order & pay then given a number similar to Poly.

Looks like our good fortune continues.

Checked in to the YC earlier today and was expecting a garden view CL which is what we booked. Well, we were pleasantly surprised to have received a King bed, pool/lagoon view!! I have to say the room is in very good condition and is very clean :). CM's have all been very nice and we were even surprised with a knock on our door from a CM delivering balloons and chocolates along with a signed anniversary card from Mickey & Minnie.

It's official...I'm now spoiled :):).

Here's the view from our room to the left of our balcony:

Straight ahead:

And turning our head slightly right:

Really doesn't get much better than this...

Could someone tell be how the buses are specifically to MK and DTD!? I am thinking about booking for next October:)

Thanks!

We booked standard for both our Resorts this past August on the magical deal. At the YC we were given room 3171 - overlooking the Friendship Boat dock/SAB to the left & Swan and Dolphin to the right. Lagoon/Water view. Then the saga of the switch happened. But that was not the fault of a room assigner, the room assigner had pixie dusted us unbelievably! The CM at check in messed things up in a big way... but that's a story for another day... lol! - smh.

At the Poly we had requested Fiji 3rd floor & got Aotearoa 3rd floor facing Luau Cove beach & the GF. Room 3225. We had been given 3207 at check in facing the monorail - I smiled & said Awwww no, nothing in Fiji? A phone call was made & the room was moved across the hall with a smile & a nod. I was surprised & delighted!

Can't wait to do it again next August! (but first - February with that same TA!) ;)

Checked in to BC today at 830 am. Room request was king bed. 10am got the text room ready. 1230 our keys didn't work, went to front desk to see why and it turns out they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite water view club level!!! The Lounge is on the 2nd floor and doesn't offer hot foods at this time

We switched from the Wilderness Lodge to the Yacht Club last week after receiving an awesome pin code.

Could you please add us to the Be Our Guest list? We'll be there May 25th-June 3rd.

This is our first stay at any Epcot resort. We're so excited we chose the Yacht Club!! :yay:
