2013 Madeira Port Schedule Out!

Just received an email from my travel agent about what they have heard regarding 2013. It looks like there will be 2-3 Panama Canal Cruises. Western and Eastern Med's including 12 days.
I would have to SEE the itineraries before deciding what I want. I doubt the prices are going to jump through the roof if I don't book the first day. And - as a lowly silver Castaway Club member, I probably can't book the first day, any way! :(

In the past they weren't available to book online, only over the phone for the first few days. If they do what they have done before, Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members will have a day or two to book prior to everything being open to the public. No way to know if they will do it that way this time though.

I think it depends on the itinerary. When the 2010 TA cruises were announced, everyone got to book on the same day. I had never cruised with DCL yet I was able to book the same day at someone who was Gold. I think it is only if it is a brand new itinerary that Platinum and Gold get first dibs.

No mention of anything else, huh?

We know the Wonder will go to more places in 2013 than the Panama Canal. (I'd rather do one of those in the winter than the summer.) I still think the Wonder will go to Alaska in the summer, with at least one or two Hawaii cruises in September.

The Magic and Wonder will be the ships with the most interesting itineraries, whereas people will sail on the Dream and the Fantasy because they want to experience the new ships.

Last time DCL went to the med, it was a western correct? What was that itinerary like?

Actually, I haven't got the port names .... but these were the excursions we took. I can't remember or spell some of the ports. hahaha

Some of the port names are Civitavecchia (Rome), La Spezia (Pisa/Florence/Cinque Terre), Villefranche (Monaco), and Ajaccio, Corsica on the 10 and 11-night cruises. The last six 2011 Med cruises were 7 nights from Barcelona, and I think they went to Villefranche, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples, and Palma de Mallorca.

So what are the rumours that the Eastern Med will include?

(Sorry, don't have time to go through 14 pages of posts)

Venice, Greece and Turkey...

To answer a PP...the 2011 Med cruises were great, but I wish we'd have booked the 11 day instead of the 10 day...you really need the sea day in the middle to rest up. If they offer the eastern Med we'll do that, but would also like a btb w/ western Med. We would like to do the Panama Canal again too, did that on the first EB in 2005.

After visiting the same ports basically in 2010 and 2011 my hopes are for a focus on eastern med. My dream itinerary would be an eleven or twelve day and would visit:
Barcelona
Naples or Civitavecchia
Venice
Athens
Santontori or Mykonos
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Turkey

Don't know if it is even possible, but hey it's my dream!

Panama Canal cruise in December 2012 which will probably end in Miami. Wonder will go back through the Panama Canal to LA, then Vancouver for Alaskan cruises. Hawaiian sailings. Another Panama Canal.

Disney Magic, Galveston first part of the year, followed by a Transatlantic sailing from Galveston. Mediterranean with a home port of Barcelona or Civitavecchia or both with similar itenaries as the past. A few 12 night sailings to Eastern Mediterranean ports such as Venice, Turkey, Croatia and the Greek Isles.

I was afraid the Transatlantic might start in Galveston. If there are just a few 12-night eastern Med cruises - watch DCL price them out the wazoo as they did the 2010 Baltic cruises!

You're probably right. Now I'm worried since we really want to do this one. We did the Med in 2010 and loved it!

Yep, they will try to overprice them but then I'm going to bet that they are going to have to offer some last minute discounts just like they did for the baltics. My parents got a great deal $1600 each on the 2nd baltics cruise and they were only 3/4 full. If DCL would overprice themselves it would be alot easier to sell rooms.

Believe it or not the longer 11 day med cruises were cheaper than the 7 day in many instances. Although with DCL any new itinerary seems to be priced thru the roof. Note the significant difference in price for alaska cruises for only minor port changes (Seattle vs Vancouver). In my view unjustified but supply and demand rules.

I predict 7 day cruises out of Rome alternating east and west.

Now where to go. We did a r/t Hawaii on Radiance in 07 it blows the Wonder's cruise away. We did the canal last Jan and it was awesome not a fan of the MR. I just finished my scrapbook on that. Husband is from Croatia so as much as I want to do a TA it is hard not to go and see them and not fair to hubby. So where to go?
