2013 Free Dining Watch

Jumping in because we just booked a trip in January. I'm a DDP newbie, because we usually stay offsite. It'll be fun to try something new!

Joining the 2013 FD Watch! We're trying to plan a trip for next fall - ideally we want to hit Food & Wine Fest and MNSSHP in one trip - and free dining would be a great bonus.

I'm also debating on booking a package so I can do the 180+10 ADRs and then trying to add FD if it's announced for our dates. But if I guess wrong on the FD dates, and have to change dates once the promotion is announced, my ADRs will have to be changed anyway. Sigh, why do they make it so difficult? I hate that you have to book ADRs 180 days out, I wish they'd go back to 90 days for ADRs.

That is difficult to figure out! I think if I were you, I would wait until you can make your ADR's to book a package, maybe by then you will have received something about FD. For instance, if you can start booking your ADR's in mid March, wait until then to book a package.

We are booked for February 2013... The cast member I spoke to told me to be watching the WDW homepage for upcoming special offers.. I'm thinking it won't be long til they issue some codes!

Free dining is hardly ever offered prior to the 180+10 ADR date. I hate that, plus the fact that if I waited for free dining to be announced to choose dates, airfare would be a fortune, because it is usually cheapest when rates are first released. The agonies of waiting for free dining. :scratchin:coffee::(

Right now we are booked with free dining in November, but we are probably going to have to switch to January because of school stuff. Hoping for FD or a discount of some sort!!! :thumbsup2

SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOOO TRUE! What it does is benefit those guests who want to go regardless of FD. It stresses us who will wait and work around the FD periods! :scared:

Just made all of our ADRs and....

SCORED BOG :faint:

 Yay!

NOW... it better be FREE! :lmao:

Hopping aboard too.

This is our second family trip to disney. We were lucky to get FD last year. I am hoping again this year. We are booked for February with all our ADR made. YIKES... Come on Free Dining!!!:worship:

Its killing me that the winter deals aren't announced yet. I feel like this time last year it was all set. I remember hearing about the morning FD was supposed to be released and it was! I just hope that my nerves and anxiety can handle waiting another week for the day the fall specials end.....did I mention it is killing me! :headache:

We just booked our trip for the last week in January and we're praying for FD. Historically they always offer it that week and that's why we chose it. The ADR's are booked and I'm just checking the computer everyday for any winter 2013 deals. I normally would have waited to book it but we're a party of 5 adults and 2 kids and there's just too many logistics involved. We're booked for the new Royal Rooms at POR. If they don't offer the FD I may have to downgrade the room or stay at AOA :-(

Interesting you should mention that......

I've seen the Sep 29th booking date before and thought nothing of it at the time.

However looking at the Disney Travel Agent website today the booking date is until Dec 13th.

This would seem to imply that something will be announced next week.... whether it's the Jan-Mar offers (Hoping for Feb 24 myself) or just the extension of the current offer who knows. But it is encouraging.

I was just on the phone changing our resort and asked about FD. She said she did not know when they would come out.

Then when we were ending the convo, she said to make sure to check the disney website next week to make sure we get savings. I said, what did your say? She stumbled and said make sure you make your restaurant reservations next week. Well , we won't be 180 days out till late August and she knew that. I just said thank you as I know she was giving me a tip. We had discussed that we were waiting to see if any deals came out before we add the dining plan.

So, I am pretty sure something will be announced next week!!

Do you mind me asking what weeks you booked? I am curious because we are booked from 1/19-1/26.

Yes! We want to go in the fall regardless of FD, but we're pretty flexible with our dates so we want to plan it so we can get FD.

And yes, I know it's not actually free but I would never spend $40+ per adult for one meal OOP. My frugal-minded brain just would not let me! So I want a "free pass" to eat all those expensive meals I've been wanting to try for years.

My next idea is to just make a tentative plan and make some ADRs each day. Then when they announce FD dates and we actually book our package, I'll cancel any ADRs I don't need.

Anyone who's been in January, is the entire MLK week usually blacked out?
