*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

Somewhat disappointed with PFTS tonight. This is our 6th consecutive year. This year was it as enjoyable. First, it seemed that Cirque du Soleil was band/ singer heavy and performance light. I remember three performance sets with band in between. I think there was one tonight and mostly a nd. They were good. It missed the acrobatic performances. Second, they ruined the cocktail party with all the paid, reserved seating. There were far fewer high tops for leaning and socializing. Probably only about 20 total. Space taken up with stupid tables/ chairs. Reunited the flow and the socializing. Thirs, there was no food I loved and wanted more of. It was good but nothing spectacular. Finally, wines were almost exclusively from CA. Not my preference and there was little variety.

I'll chalk it up to a night that didn't meet our individual preferences input will do a full review after next Saturday's party. I am feeling like it wasn't quite up to stuff this year but willing to try next weeks before I give a full assessment.

That is my plan

There were things available on Friday morning. Plus there are some free ones - fist come first served. We went to a wine pairing in Morocco on Tuesday and it wasn't close to being full - AND it was very good. We're going back tomorrow to see what's what!

This maybe a silly question but is the orange Dole Whip just orange or orange and pineapple?

Was at EPCOT yesterday and did the tequila lynch which was amazing and my wife did the shake, taste, and indulge which she really enjoyed.

We didn't do a single booth though as it was PACKED - every booth line was 40-50 people deep at least. Rides busy too - even Ellen's Energy Adventure had a 20 min wait.

Will be going back Mon and Third afternoons and hope to cover some ground theb

We were there last night as well. One word- INSANE!!!! I'd compare it to July 4th maybe worse.
We weren't there for the booths thank god!! We had an ADR, but are also planning on going tomorrow. Can't wait to try everything!!

We were also at PFTS last night. It was our first one, but I agree 100% with the review a few posts back. The food was good, but nothing blew me away and I thought the desserts were awful. There was a table with David Ramirez chocolates and those were excellent and had to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Hi -

I'm getting very excited for this. Just went through all the menus and have over 50 items I want to try (both food and beverages). I hope I can manage it! I'll only have 10 days.

I have a question I haven't seen asked or answered. I see the 22 oz. beers come with the "souvenir stein". But what if I don't want it? If I get a couple, that will be all I want. Do they have an alternative, like a big solo cup?

Thanks!

I saw that and thought they probably wouldn't sell another Dole Whip drink someplace else. Too bad.

Is it a strong coconut flavor? I like coconut with pineapple, not so sure about orange...

I think they meant creme de cacao. Which is chocolate flavored (to a degree). I've never heard of creme de coco, except as a shampoo. I have not tried it yet, but if you get to choose which alcohol you get? I'm super excited!!!!!!!!!!!

I am more of a fan of pineapple dole whip with spiced rum. But I did try this orange one with cream de cacoa and it was pretty good and pretty strong!

Most love the pineapple dole whip, I wonder why they chose NOT to have that. :scratchin I would think they would have more sales of the Pineapple Dole whip, especially one with alcohol. :thumbsup2

On EMH nights when Epcot is open from 9-11pm, does that affect F&W hours? My apologies if this has been asked and answered before!

Getting excited, just a few more days and we'll be there! Have read so many reviews, looked at pics, DD and I have pretty much narrowed down what we're going to try, course once we get there and smell/see everything that could change, lol
Can't wait!!:yay:

I would suspect it is because oranges are strongly identified with Florida, and the F&W seems to be showcasing local (Florida) foods as well as international. Not may pineapples in Florida. They should sell the pineapple version at the Hawaii booth!

I booked today the Parisian Breakfast at 9am and than the Italian Cheese and Wine at 10:30am. Am I crazy or what both on the same day and same morning. Oh well, no lunch for us that day. I was trying to find things that were still open and I found those two. Which are two, we will really enjoy. Just not sure if I will enjoyed it that close together.

Laura

Good luck, I hope you leave room for the cheese!

The Saturday we will be there (Nov 2), we are doing the cheese seminar, Grand Marnier tasting, and PftS. A full day, but a few hours between each 'even.' Since Saturdays have gotten so insane, I figured this would be a good way to get some quality tasting done without having to spend most of the day in lines.

We purchased a F&WF 2013 coffee mug which has now lost the chef from the cup! It would appear that appliques on the cup are just that, appliques and they have begun to peel. The cup has been used twice and is a big disappointment. Save your money!
