2013 DVC Member Cruise

Considering they can't sell those 2012 cruises....they may need to rethink this whole concept. But do not accept this to take place when kids are out of school.

Since the Member Cruise is a charter, they will book them during the cheapest times of the year.

Agree.

Scheduling two cruises so close together in Sept '12 and Jan '13 appears to be a mistake. Perhaps DCL (Karl Holz) pressed the issue now that DCL has more ships to fill and the member cruises have proven popular in the past. :confused3

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that there will be a fall '13 cruise. But if there is, all signs point to September when public demand is lowest and DVC can charter a ship for the lowest price.

We booked a cruise for 9/2013. Just hoping they do not come back and decide to make it a DVC cruise. If they do, it will end up costing more.

You are safe. They are not going to take a bookable cruise that people have already started booking and change it to a DVC cruise.

There was a mid October DCL cruise that was already being booked that people were notified the ship was being chartered that week. Saw the thread on the DCL board. Don't know if it was for the DVC member cruise or another group wanting to the whole ship. I vaguely remember hearing talk of moving the DVC cruise to October. Didn't check back to see the outcome.

Having a ship in booking, doesn't mean it is immune to being chartered by a group. There is a thread on Cruise Critic, someone booked a Jan NCL cruise and were just called that the ship is being chartered that week. From what I read it sounds like all the major cruise lines do that.

It was the Oct 21st cruise. They were going to make it DVC after it was already a listed cruise. They then changed the dates to the 2 current ones. Prefer non DVC due to lessen cost.

I stand corrected. I cannot believe they cancel cruises that may have 3 or 4 thousand people on it that have possibly already made travel arrangements

The last time the Magic was in Europe, DCL chartered out the last Med Cruise. There were people booked on that Med Cruise and the Transatlantic Cruise immediately after it. DCL did this while the Magic was already in the Med so it was short notice for those affected.

So what happens if you've paid for non-refundable airfare etc?

Let's get this thread started since I can't wait for my next cruise, which is the DVC member cruise. Who else is going? Anyone want to start a Fish Extender exchange? Double dip at Castaway! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

Thanks! I searched for one before I posted here but didn't see it.
