2013 dates

I would definitely be onboard for another Panama Canal Crossing. Would love to go West this time! :woohoo:

Watching Amazing Race this past Sunday and they did a segment in Panama City. Wish they would stop there! That would be awesome -- there's so much history there. :thumbsup2

I am still holding out hope for a TA and Eastern Med....

Not so sure about it though with the Bermuda rumors and such.

Anyone think that the longer trips (PC) might be offered in the summer?

I tried to do some research on this once. During the summer, the canal gets a lot of cargo traffic, which is why the cruise ships don't go there during summer months. I have been wishing for YEARS that DCL would do a June trip through there!

Oh well. We did a 14 day PC cruise once and it was during our Christmas break.

I have been on all 3 of DCL's Westbound transits of the Canal. Even this last one in Jan it was very hot and humid. I cringe at what it must be like at the end of July weather wise.

All of them?? I am so so so jealous! I would love to do one of these. The 15 nights is what is most appealing to me. The Canal is just a bonus. The longer cruises are so wonderful!

I can't imagine doing a long trip during the school year. That's why I keep hoping they occur during the summer.

Yup. All 3. As a matter of fact our first cruise with DCL was the Magics Westbound in '05. Since we don't have kids time of year is not an issue for us. That's why we are on the first Hawaii cruise in April. I will say that the canals humidity was almost unbearable in May. I hate to think what the return folks experienced.

We sailed in August 2005 on the Magic and our day through the canal was gorgeous. It was partly cloudy and the temps were very comfortable. My favorite memory is seeing my husband running by on the top deck, in his glory, taking pictures and having a blast. My worst memory: Captain Tom having to announce THREE TIMES for people to stop throwing things off the ship to the people below. They even threw a basketball that almost hit an armed guard. It was embarrassing :sad2:

Interesting. That did not happen on the PC cruise that I took.

A lot of us weren't enjoying the fact that there were armed soldiers below and people were chucking hard candies, t-shirts, even towels. Captain kept announcing that they could be fined $250 for EACH incident and to please stop. Very sad and made us look like morons! Later we talked to an officer and he was saying that while some people meant good by wanting to "share", candies tossed from above do not feel good if they hit you 9-10 decks below! :rotfl:

On the EB Repo in 2008 our PC day was rainy most of the day.
It was so funny because CM's were throwing us Mickey ponchos from 1 deck above. Fortunately we were all good catches.

Still no news? :confused3

This is torture. We recently dropped our plans to visit CA next summer and booked an Alaskan cruise for Aug just in case 2012 truly is our last chance with DCL there. I have the time off work approved and we have enough ff miles that all 4 of us can fly 1st class. The torture is the rumor that the Wonder could be returning to the Atlantic in which case a PC cruise could be in our future instead. Since USAirways would charge us $600 in change fees, I'm reluctant to book flights to Seattle until after DCL releases their 2013 itineraries for the Magic/Wonder. Also, let's just say we didn't exactly get 1st day release pricing on the Wonder. If DCL does return to Alaska in 2013, I'd rebook for then and probably get a better price too.

Come on DCL! Please!! :snail:

So................just got off the Wonder today, and the CM behind the counter at Guest Services said it is "confirmed that the Magic will be in the Med in 2013, and they will travel between Istanbul, Turkey and Venice, Italy."

Now, this was NOT supported by any other staff on board, so maybe 'take with a grain of salt,' but............. this individual used those exact words. :confused3

Just found it exciting and frustrating at the same time.

Wow - thanks!! I wonder if that is just spring/summer/fall?? I wonder what the Magic will do during Thanksgiving and Christmas???

Did she say when pricing/itineraries would be released?

Jodie

What times of the year have they offered the Mediterranean and transatlantic cruises?

The transatlatics are normally in the Spring (April/May?) and back in September I think. We cruised out of Barcelona in June, 2007 - got a great deal on the cruise (GTY), but the flights just about killed us. I think the flights to Europe for all 4 of us would be a deal breaker - just too expensive.

But I'm curious to see if the Magic will do new itineraries later in the year - would love a looong Southern Caribbean trip over Thanksgiving or Christmas.
