DH took me to see Monsters University tonight. It was so cute and funny:rotfl2: Make sure you stay through all of the credits and you will be rewarded with a little extra laugh:thumbsup2

Just a few hours to go!!!! :yay:

:cool1::cool1:

Ok....the story I'm about to tell will frustrate all of you, so beware!

My sister-in-law and her family is joining us at WDW....staying CL at BC. We arrive in 20 days.

Several weeks ago I gave her the email address and phone number for IPO to make her dining reservations. She calls me tonight to ask a few questions and to tell me she narrowed down where she wants to eat. In 20 days. Would you care to guess where she wants IPO to book her family for dinner? Go ahead....guess.

Are you sitting down? Sit down. You'll need to be sitting when you hear this.

Chef Mickey's AND Be Our Guest.

I am not lying! I can't make this stuff up. Seriously!

Are you freaking kidding me? 20 days before she arrives, she wants to eat at the MOST popular restaurants at WDW!

I think I may have snorted when she told me. She didn't like it when I said people book their meals 180 days in advance. I told her she might get a 9:15 dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's and if she wants to eat at BOG, she should line up at 10:30am for lunch cuz she's not getting in there for dinner!

This is why I don't like traveling with non-planners.

ARGH!

Who can relate to my frustration?

Me! Me! MEEEE!!!!! I don't travel with anyone, but I do frequently have people ask me for help in planning their Disney vacations. Two years ago, my brother and his then fiancee asked me to help her plan a trip for them with their combined 5 kids. Four of those kids were my 3 nephews and niece, all Disney first-timers. My brother had never been either. I spent time comprising emails, lists, and even a spreadsheet (don't judge me!) to help her plan, and she texted me endlessly about this and that. And then she proceed to fly by the seat of her pants to "plan" their trip, which took place over COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND! She and my brother spent a good portion of their trip squawking to me via text about how it was hot and crowded, and no TS restaurants had availability. Hmm.....ya think?!? :scratchin

Check Amazon or Google "water wallets"

We have had these two for years, probably over a decade.

We prefer the smaller one because, well, it is smaller, but still holds all we need. You can supposedly put a small phone or camera in these, but I wouldn't risk it.

Wow! Thanks for pics. I have never seen these.

There is only one building. Since you want to be near the lobby, just add "near lobby" or "near main elevators" to your reservation. The Marketplace (limited food items ... there is no food court at the Y&B) is right off the lobby. The elevators are off the lobby. SAB entrances are either out the back door of the lobby and make a right at the lake or from the lobby you go down the hallway that wraps around Cape May and exit the building at Ariel's (my preferred entrance to SAB).

So, curious... if we were as far away from the lobby as possible but were still in BC, how long of a walk would it be to get back to the lobby? To SAB? The boat launch?

Checked in today after 5 nights at POR and hubby is already a convert. We love the beach club. Ate at beaches and cream while we waited for our rooms to be ready. We didn't make any requests except connecting rooms and got them. We also got daybeds which is great as we would need rollaways without them. We are on the first floor right next to the secret entrance by Epcot which is perfect for our family!!! Close to laundry and the marketplace and Epcot. Walked around the boardwalk after dinner tonight and decided to see if any illuminations cruises were available this week and we were able to book one for tomorrow!!!

So glad you made the move over with no issues!!! The illuminations cruise sounds awesome!

We saw it yesterday, too, and we all really liked it. But even though we usually stay until after the credits to see if there's bonus material at the end, we left early for some reason. Wish we'd stayed!!

A Former Pack Mule lightens up

And now, a public service announcement about bag check.

Im the type of person who likes to be prepared for whatever may come up. If you are on the playground and need a bandaid- see Dee. Scizzors? Yup. Mints, tissues, pens in 3 colors. Got em. This personality trait makes packing for a trip to the park challenging- Here are some of the things that should be included in a properly prepared park pack:

Water bottles, cameras, extra cameras, extra batteries, ponchos, small umbrellas, pins to trade, quarters and pennies to squish, sunscreen, extra t-shirts, extra snacks&

Packing a bag like this can make you feel like you are a Sherpa leading an expedition to Everest (well, some days you are). Plus, it is a pain to have to stop at bag check while security paws through your precious possessions.

Shortly before we left on our trip, I read a post that changed my life!

Someone suggested using one of those drawstring backpacks for the parks, entering the park with it empty and folded, carrying your water (Camelbacks) and cameras. And thats it! I was a little skeptical at first, but at some point in the trip, I decided to try it. WOW!!!

We breezed right through bag check, and once we cleared the turnstiles, we could open the drawstring bag and put in the water and the camera case. Mark carried park passes/fast passes in his wallet, or in a zippered pouch he would wear around his neck.

I left Disney this year a changed woman. In fact, at one point, Mark asked Who are you and what have you done with my wife? But we all loved being able to walk into the parks all together without one of us (me) enduring the Spanish Inquisition. I never missed anything that didnt get packed.

I want to be this person! We have one or two more stroller years and then I am going to go for it!

Another TL/BB question....

For those of you who have to carry medicine to the park, do you keep it in a locker or take it with you? We have inhalers and EpiPens we carry everywhere. We have never done the water parks, so just tying to figure out our best bet for traveling with medicine. It does make things a little tricky and a little harder to travel light. We usually always keep medicine with us as we travel.

When I have the stroller I keep a small medical bag in it. When we venture out stroller free I usually wear cargo shorts or capris and put the epi-pen, a small plastic tube of Benadryl, and the inhaler in a buttoned or zippered pocket.

Thanks for the review, now I have to talk my daughters into seeing it with me!! Shouldn't be a hard sell. :goodvibes

Can someone tell me if the rooms are newer at the BC or the YC. I have read that the BC rooms are getting "worn". What's the difference in staying at the BC or YC? Thanks for any help.

We had a great room at BC in August 2011. Wasn't worn at all. This August we are trying YC.

The string bag thing is my tip. I'll try to find a picture and one of my past write-ups.

Here's the basic idea:

Folded string bag in your pockets (or pocketses if you are a Hobbit fan)

Wallet in your pocket (or that of a travelling companion) should be fine. I don't see why carrying a wallet in your hand as you pass through wouldn't be allowed. Actually, we use a water wallet around our necks instead of a regular wallet with just our KTTW card and maybe a little cash. Nothing more needed.

Camera around neck or on wrist strap.

Carry water bottle(s).

Pass through non-bag check line, enter park, unfold bag and toss in anything you no longer want to carry.

Great tip! Now to figure out where to stash the ponchos for August showers!! Hmmm.....

On the waterpark issue, that dry pack in Dee's photo is GREAT!!! I highly recommend it, and a waterproof camera. We put everything in a locker and just walk around with that little dry pack. For waterslides, we just find a corner to stash our flip flops and come back to retrieve them when we move on to the next area.

As for other bags, I usually wear dresses with no pockets and I need a little extra room to carry my refill mug in a ziplock after finishing my coffee (and in case needed in World Showcase to hold a purchased beverage), so I carry this Minnie daypack from Harvey's Seat Belt Bags: http://www.seatbeltbags.com/dimida.html. I highly recommend that too!

And finally, our three boys now carry their own stuff. That includes Vinylmation for trading, wallets, cell phones, and a sweatshirt in case it gets cold. For the last couple trips, I've created arrival surprises for our room that include string bags. This vendor from Etsy makes great bags, and they are reasonably priced ($12 each), so we've been getting new ones for each trip: http://www.etsy.com/listing/97079275/mickey-or-minnie-cinch-backpack-you-pick?ref=shop_home_active. Wish she still had the photo of the Halloween ones - really cute!

Also wanted to add a cheer for Sue's check in! :cheer2:

I have one of those small dry bags! Don't know why I haven't used it for wdw pool or water parks :confused3. Creature of habit I guess, I have one of the hard cases I bought at CBR on 2007, and still use that! I'm throwing that dry bag in my luggage now!!!!

I've seen those seatbelt bags at GF gift shop and DTD. Cute, but heavy. Those draw string bags are supper cute!!

LOL! Of course she does.
I was talking vacation planning with co-workers the other day and one said "Oh I've been to Disney (referring to DLR) many times, WDW can't be that different, there's no need to plan. Why don"t you just save time and money and stick to DLR?" :rotfl:

Why would anyone plan ahead? Just walk up to the restaurant and say " Do you know how much this vacation is costing me?"

And in this case "Adult" means 18 & over but not "Disney Adult" (aka for tickets, 10 & over) correct?

Yes, that is correct. I hadn't realized that when we initially booked our BC room and was happily surprised when the my youngest 2 (12 and 17) were considered children and our bill went down :thumbsup2
