Checking into beach club tomorrow after 5 days at POR. It's our first time at both resorts. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at POR with lots of pixie dust. Hubby is a little worried we will be disappointed at BC but I'm hoping its as wonderful as POR.
Hubby and I have a date night planned for tomorrow with the little kids booked at the sandcastle club. Should we be able to definitely be in our rooms by 4 pm to get ready and if we use bell services to transfer our luggage should we be able to expect it to be here by 4? (We do not have a car). Thanks for any help!!!

We just did a POR/YC split stay last week. POR bellman told me they won't move the luggage until 3 pm at the earliest. We took a taxi and brought our luggage with us. Our room was ready for our 10am arrival at YC (shockingly) but we were already dressed in bathing suits under our clothes, just in case.

Oh no! Your Buzzy is of nobel heritage and is not related to the lowly mosquito! I was born in the dumpster of the Yachtsman Steak House and I was raised amongst the flora and fauna of the BC/YC resort. I met Mrs. Buzzy during her "bar fly" era when she was hanging out at Hurricane Hannah's. Even to this day, when Mrs. Buzzy gets hold of a maraschino cherry she gets that far away look in her eye and gets lost in her thoughts of her younger days, sans children, foot loose and fancy free!

Now I roam the grounds of the resort, looking for guests to 'help' as they enjoy the resort. I cannot think of a more nobel occupation for a resort fly!

Signed, Buzzy the Fly, your Disney resort guy!

Just checking Buzzy! I knew you were a noble fly buy I have some relatives with so e questionable behavior. I was not sure about you, but am glad to hear there is no relation

dd53, I entirely agree with Ninja Mom. We've done many split stays - sometimes we hop in a cab early in the morning and bring our luggage along, and sometimes we let bell services transfer it for us. If we let bell services transfer it, we have absolutely no expectation that we'll see that luggage before that night. If it arrives early, great! But if not, we have everything we need for the rest of the day and night in our park bags, so no worries.

For example, when we transferred from BC to CR for MNSSHP last year, and we needed our costumes by 4pm, we took a cab and brought our own luggage along. On the other hand, when we transferred from Poly to BWI this year, we threw our swimsuits in our park bags, let Bell Services transfer our luggage, and spent most of the day in Epcot.

In your case, if you need anything around 4pm, I'd take the safe route - grab a cab and bring your luggage along. It's a quick cab ride - we used on when we transferred from POFQ to YC last year (and we brought our luggage along that time, too!)

When we do split stays, I always grab a cab (they have taxi vans too) in the morning to take us and our luggage to new resort.

We def plan on bringing luggage with us from AS Sports to BC in August

we are going back to the Beach Club September 17-24th. We stayed here 5 years ago and had a great room. This trip the kids are older and a lot more excited about the pool than they were last time. I can't wait to go back. :)

Wow.. just wow! Thank goodness for the eye dr!! The eyes are the key to everything... a few years ago the eye dr detected issues with my husband as well. Nothing as serious as Bob, but could have been if left untreated. The lesson here is to make sure you see your eye dr at least once a year!

Congrats on the return to BC after a 5 year hiatus and to many successful trips to SAB with the kids. Where was your room last time? Our favorite has been down the short hallway off the lobby by the entrance to the Marketplace. So convenient to everything!

Just wanted to say I really like your user name...how clever!

Thanks when I picked the user name my oldest loved belle and the younger girl loved Tink
Last time we were there we were in the very very far corner of the building way over by Epcot we thought we were going to hate being so far from the lobby and buses but it ended up being awesome.

The last couple trips we have stayed on the monorail loop but I missed the Beach Club so I used the pool to convince the kids :thumbsup2

Best.Tip.Ever!

Thanks....My DH tells me that's how he knows I'm a true coffee junkie. ;)

OK fellow BC/YCers, how many of you have gone to one of the waterparks??? And did you feel like it would have been just as nice to spend the day at SAB instead of hauling everyone (and everything) away for the day?

We have NEVER done one, and are thinking about TL mid-week during our stay.

ANY advice, tips, pros cons to doing this would be so much appreciated.

We are in the same situation: never been to either of the waterparks, but are planning to go this summer. To be honest, I am not really a fan of waterparks, since I swim like a box of bricks. But I do enjoy a lounge chair in the sun and a place nearby to dip my toes. My kids have been pestering me for the last 3 trips to make it over to the waterparks, so I figured we'd go this time around. Sigh.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers everybody. They are doing the artery on his neck this Monday. Its over 90% blocked. The other side will be done in about three weeks. Its around 60% blocked. Thank goodness his eye doctor suspected during his routine six month exam (he has cataracts) and sent him for an ultrasound and then fixed him up with a heart specialist ASAP. He's at a 95% chance of a stroke. They put him on high doses of aspirin until the surgery. That woman (eye doctor) saved his life.

Yikes, that's scary! I hope all goes well. Thank heavens for wellness checks!

Teena: I will be thinking of you all day Monday!! I know his surgery will go perfectly :) You do realize that the best place for recovery would be.................aboard The Fantasy??? :thumbsup2

Like Teena says, get there early to grab good location with beach chair. I don't bother with a locker. I wear my bathing suit and either wear a sundress on top or shorts & tee. All I have in my beach bag is towels I borrow from resort pool, a book, sunscreen and cheap Walmart water shoes. I wear one if those waterproof cases you can buy in the resort gift shop to put my kttw card in and gift card for food.
Do all the slides first, then when lines get long enjoy the wave pool and lazy river.
We like both parks, TL & BB. I like Crush & Gusher & the snorkel shark pool & wave pool best at TL, and at BB they have the best family raft ride, and the wave pool at BB is more gentle and they have tubes you can bob in. If you can get one. I wish they had an orderly tube return there like they have for the slides so everyone who wants a tube has the opportunity to wait on line to get one. It's rather a free for all right now.

Sorry for the awkward copy and paste....the app for DISboards is a pain on the iPad sometimes.....

Now my observation from Storm Along Bay this afternoon: there was hardly anyone in the pool, but almost every chair had a towel on it. OoooOOh! It's a little early in the season for towel drama! I was just thinking about the kerfluffle that happens every summer during high season at Storm Along Bay with the chair hogs/Towel on chair savers.

Remember for those of you going in the summer.... WHAT IS NINJA MOM'S CARDINAL RULE TO DEAL WITH CHAIR HOGS??

What's that??
Peanut gallery replies: "MOVE the chair with the towel on it to a DIFFERENT spot...."

Why Yes!! That's correct and it's because......

Peanut gallery replies: The person who WAS hogging the chair won't know where you moved it and thus can not go all righteous on you because you will have disappeared into the crowd and piggy won't have any idea where to find you. Keep in mind that you shouldn't touch a chair that has someone's personal property on it, only move the ones that have hotel towels on 'em.

Here's another tip: Never take valuables to the pool. If you must then be sure to lock them up in a locker. Lockers are available indoors at the fitness center and there are some rusty, mostly broken ones right where they rent out the tubes by the Volleyball rope in the largest pool. That's where you would get the key to the outdoor lockers. In the fitness center you just program your own numerical lock code into the lockers key pad. So say you have your kindle with you but you want to go in the pool for a dip. Use the locker or the kindle may walk.

So there is your tip for the day! I know some of you are listening and I fully expect to hear reports of how some of you had to convince your spouses that "someone named Ninja Mom told you you have to move these chairs otherwise you will get chased by a pig"... Mwa ha ha! ~NM

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

:rotfl2: thanks for the reminder of moving chair!!

How scary! Glad for the eye doctor. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way for Monday.

Talk about magical... ran into one of my best friends from college yesterday at AK. We just both happened to be at WDW on vacay. DH took care of DD tnight after Illuminations so I could wander the boardwalk and catch up with my GF. She moved to NY 5 years ago so we had a lot to talk about. Was able to introduce her to DD. Just awesome! Definitely not ready to head home tomorrow afternoon.

We arrived here post Fantasy cruise and I have already been down the Flying Jib twice...get out of my way kids! LOL!
I do have a question. We were offered a first floor room, so we wouldn't have to wait and took it. The room has a musty smell. Is this typical or should I call housekeeping?

We have the same smell on the second floor. Was told it was the ac. We've aired out the room when we return. Were you able to get it resolved?

High five to the eye doctor. Will keep you in my thoughts on Monday.

Kind of weird question I know but what kitchen cooks the food for room service at the Beach Club? There may be a time we just want to go back to the BC, go to the shower and a/c and order a good burger or sandwich, watch tv, and take a nap before heading back out. Just curious.
