Last day of school tomorrow!!! I'm as excited as DD is. :cool1:

You "win"? :confused3

Hey! I might beat you all!:rotfl2::rotfl2: In my little world, my kids are in year round school. So we still get the 12 weeks off of summer....they are just spread throughout the year in increments of 3-4 weeks at a time. You still get the normal breaks for Thanksgiving/Christmas etc.
Soooooo....That means my kiddos have their last day of Kindergarten, 4th grade and 7th grade on June 28th.....Then start back on July 8th!:eek:

It does make travelling to WDW in off season much easier though!:)

In my own wicked, selfish little world, that is EXACTLY the reason I wish they would have done that here is Louisiana!!! Off season WDW visits :rotfl2: Of course my DD would HATE that (bwaaahhh).

Day 3. So MK was absolutely packed today. EasyWDW had it as a crowd level 7 I believe, but I think it was way more than that. I also think this was the case because they extended the closing to midnight at some point.

Anyway we were on the bus at 8am and at the turnstiles by 8:20. There were already a fair number of people waiting. Opening show started at 8:45 and we were in the park before 9am.

Before lunch at 11:45 we did the following.

Thunder, Thunder, Splash, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash (FP), train to FL, Mermaid (FP). The longest wait for any of these standby or FP was 10 minutes, so this is a perfect case of how getting to the park early on a crowded day pays off.

After lunch we slowed things down some because the crowds had rolled in. We did Dumbo (FP), People Mover, Philharmagic, Space (FP), Buzz (FP), train to Frontier, Tree House, Carousel, and shopped.

Dinner was at Crystal Palace. We then did some more quick shopping, rode Small World and then got a parade spot in Frontier shortly after 8. It was a pleasant evening for people watching while waiting.

Buses at closing were very efficient so no complaints here either. We were back in our room just before 11 after leaving the park when Wishes finished.

I will say lines were long everywhere. Small World had waits over 30 minutes by late morning. Buzz had over 45 minute waits from late morning for the rest of the day. There was even a line to get on the people mover. It was one of those days where once we did what the kids wanted to do we were content to just go at our own pace.

After today's marathon, tomorrow is a scheduled rest and relaxation day at the resort.

What an amazing day - thank you so much for sharing! You confirm my belief that RD is the way to go. Also, that you need to schedule in the R&R - especially when it is at SAB!!! Enjoy your rest day and hopefully a sunken treasure or two...

I'm sorry to say that Buzzy is safe. Tom Collins left me for Margarita. After he sobered up he left Margarita for Shirley Temple, but he fell off of the wagon and is now shacking up with Stella Artois.

What a guy - maybe someone needs to send him a Brass Monkey! :confused3

I wish for this! Mostly for the off season WDW but also it's a single Mum's dream!!! Where I live, for most of the two parent families both parents work so it totally makes sense here, but the districts have been holding out. I have 3 more years to change their mind before my DD gets into the system... :confused3

When my daughter started teaching about seven years ago, her school was year around. Her class was track five and she loved it. She had off about 3=1/2 weeks during October (which meant she could come home for the Food and Wine Festival). She only cared about that break. The rest of the breaks were nice but she loved coming home for F&W. They switched to nine months after I think four years. She doesn't like it as much.

We are a Poly family but this year we decided to try the BC. Have been reading trip-advisor and I have a few questions. We are huge Disney fans so I can't imagine any of this is true but if anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated.

1. Have read several reviews re: the need for renovations, musty smell in the rooms. Soggy carpeting. Saggy mattresses. Has anyone experienced this?

2. Have read quite a few reviews that mentioned a bee problem at SAB. Just curious if this is true because my oldest is allergic to bees.

3. Most important question. Best centrally located room area to request? My youngest is recovering from ankle surgery and wont be fully recovered for our trip. Have rented a wheelchair but since I am not familiar with the resort I am really not sure where to request a room. We will definitely be visiting Epcot more than DHS. Just want to try to minimize the walking. (I know that's crazy to try and do while in Disney!). Any suggestions?

4. Been reading some posts that mention a "secret" exit near the quiet pool that saves some walking. Can anyone tell me what to look for?

Thank you for any information you can provide! I am sure we will love BC. Disney has never let us down! Just concerned about some of those reviews I read. Thanks again! Have a magical night! :)

I forgot your :welcome:

Sorry about that.

I'll leave up your questions in case others have comments to add.

:)

We're doing an overnight stop on our drive down, so we leave in...four days. I'm doing laundry and packing like a maniac, and the kids still don't know we're going to Disney.

So here is my all-important, burning question: besides the famous Sunken Treasure, what's your favorite adult-type drink at the BC? :rotfl:

There are other adult beverages at the Beach Club???

Here's a link to the menu at Hurricane Hanna's to see if anything strikes your fancy.

Poolside and Bar Menu

Anyone out there have a recommendation?

:drinking1

THis is probably where I need to ask this question!

So I'm considering moving us (me, DH, and DD5) from POR to Beach CLub for our last day. We will be doing 1/2 day at Epcot and then don't plan to go to a park on our travel day. Our plan doesn't take off until 8 pm though, so we'll have a good amount of time and I thought it would be fun to end out trip with Cape May breakfast and hanging out at this awesome pool I've read about.

Someone pointed out to me that I need a back up plan in case it rains. What would be suggestions? (This is mid-August, so I know we are very likely to have a rainy spell in the afternoon. But otherwise hoping for sunny skies!)

Not sure if I have welcomed you yet, so

:welcome:

and

BUMP- rainy day suggestions for the Beach Club?

Let us know if you make the switch.

:yay:

My kids are also out on 6/26 this year (Danvers) I think we only had 1 snow day left! I'm so glad I didn't plan our trip for the end of June!

Can't remember if I have welcomed you in the past, so

:welcome:

:goodvibes

By the way, for those who aren't so fond of the shrimp and lobster roll (esp those who know it can't compare to northeast lobster rolls!) I tried the grilled cheese with bacon, apple butter, and blue cheese at hurricane Hannah's . It was SLAMMIN! It sounded odd, and I gave it a try and I was soooo glad I did. I devoured it before I could snap a picture though, sorry! Just something to add to the menu of things to try over there :)

Hi. We are staying at the BC for the first time on June 8. I'm planning on having some yogurt and cereal in the room for the kiddo's. Can I borrow spoons and bowls from the hotel or should I bring something disposable? If I can borrow them, where do I get them?

Thanks!!!

I have a question. We are hoping to stay at the beach or yacht club next march, but I can't book it online. When do these dates usually open up for booking? Thanks

For all those talking about end of school, I have one on June 25th and one on June 26th. The plan for more weather issues was to take away the Monday-Thursday before Easter, then if there were more days my daughter would have been going to school on Saturdays. My daughter is still not back in her real school from Sandy damage, they expect to get back in September. Both start back September 9th. :scratchin Hope the weather next year is much less extreme or they will be going until July. We will have a good gap before going back to school after our August trip.

They have plastic bowls, spoons, knives and forks in the Beach Club Marketplace. It is very convenient. :) (At least they used to have the bowls.)

They will open it up when they release the 2014 rack rates. It is usually in July or August. I'm waiting, too, because I want to book our room for April. :goodvibes

My kids don't even know any better! :rotfl2::rotfl2: We only have one more year of it though because all the high schools are on a traditional calendar. At that point I will move DS to a traditional middle school and put DD on a different track that more resembles traditional.

For me the summers are the worse because we only have the 4 weeks:sad:
But the rest of the year we love!! In our area too, there are so many year round schools that there are lots of camps etc.

Oh man!! Yes I will miss the Oct break in a few years!!:)

That sounds amazingly delicious

Couple of CL questions...:wave2:

This is our first stay in a 1 bedroom suite at the BC...where are those located?

Do we have a chance of a good view yet still be close to the elevators/buses?

If any discounts come out for October will there be any chance of a room discount for a suite? I've heard in the past that suites and deluxe rooms aren't included in room discount offerings. If not I guess we can hope for free dining.

Can those staying in CL at the BC visit the YC CL Lounge?

:scratchin

Thanks in advance!

quick live update from the concierge floor, We love it here. Our first room was a little too long of a walk for me, so they gave us another room. I will describe it when I get back.

Last night in the lounge we had cheese, crackers, some kind of avocado/salsa type spread, crab puffs, strawberry puff, veggiess and dip, and olives,

For the nightime desserts dh got us lemon bars, choc bar with raspberry on it, rice krispie treat and cookies.

Last night I asked for a banana because of my potassium problems etc. They were nice and got me once since it was not out.

This morning I think around 9:45 the lounge had no seats, no problem, we took it back to the room. They had some great mini muffins, it tasted like carrot cake maybe? Lots of fresh fruit and yogurt, but that was low fat so I didnt take it. I had a croissant and dh had a toasted bagel and oatmeal.

For the afternoon snacks dh got us everything to share, apple, banana, yogurt pretzels, sweedish fish. I liked the trail mix the best though.

Lots of rain on and off though.

Strange things going on today. I dont know if it has to do with the AK gun incident. There was a security guard at the back of the Beach Club exit doors in the main lobby this morning.

Then before we loaded into the friendship at hollywood studios this afternoon they had a sniffer dog go on board.

Well going to make a lounge stop before going to citricos tonight.

Reading about all these schools breaking up in June makes me want to move from the UK to work in a school in the US! My Auntie lives in Idaho and she said the children there only have to go to school 4 days a week where she lives too. We break up on 23rd July and go back 2nd September but of course we don't have the weather :/
Love reading this thread everyday, so thank you :)

Just wanted to make sure you guys know that you can book for 2014 now if you call 1-407-WDISNEY. You can make a room-only reservation, not a package reservation. You will be booking at the 2013 rates. Supposedly when the 2014 rates come out, your reservation will be adjusted to those figures. When you book this way, you have to pay one night now as a deposit. You can get the deposit back if you cancel up to 5 days before arrival.
