Does anyone remember, at AK, whether stop 5 is closest to the entrance, or stop 1

Thanks!

jemh628- sorry about your DH :(

Stop 1 is closer (we've stayed at WL many a time, and the WL is the first one you come to when leaving AKL).

I was two days a week and Art was five days a week. I've been there since 2004. Art retired about 3 years ago.

I think you were are greeter! We remember a man and a woman greeting us by name and we have never had a greeting that great at any other disney resort since then!

Well this is it....
Tickers coming down. In 8 hours we're on a journey. A year and a half in the planning with the Mother of all spreadsheets.

Tomorrow. Disneyland. ::MickeyMo

Next Monday-Disney Wonder Alaska. pirate:

See y'all on the other side.

Sent my list of suggested dining reservations to my friend... No response yet! LOL. She wants to do dining in the park we will be in, so I'm balancing that with lots of Epcot dining so that we can have the option of afternoons at the resort, since it will be hotter than a circle of hell. LOL. I thought Via Napoli would be a nice first night selection. Also, 50s Prime Time for our HS day, Coral Reef for our Epcot day (will have to be early, like 4 pm going by the online reservations available), Captain's Grille, Boma or Tusker House, Park Fare or WCC. Also maybe back to Teppan Edo or maybe Rose and Crown since it is so close...

Dying to get these reservations done!!! LOL

Experienced my first ever "June Bug" (aka to us NYer's, cockroach) in my resort bathroom. And we're on the 5th floor!! Came back from Epcot tonight, flipped on the bathroom light to "go", lol, and there he was....big and long! Scared the beegeesus out of me!! DH gets ALL the credit, came to the rescue and scooped/flushed it down. DH said he was quick and slippery but the deed is done (have to love being married to a fireman!!!). So that ends today's excitement!!! Goodnight!

We have arrived at BC. It all started when our alarm went off at 3am (California time). At this point we both feel like zombies even though we aren't even sure what zombies are. We got to DME at 5pm and we did need to wait a bit for the Disney bus. No bus in site when we arrived and when we boarded the bus we did wait about 20 mins before we left. We were greeted at BC and escorted right up to CL, they even offered us a glass of wine right away ( we must've looked like we needed it!). We were assigned a king suite on the 3rd floor....how cool is that? Our reservation was for GV and I had requested a full balcony. Unfortunately this room only has a small balcony, but we can deal with that. 2 small sofas, 2 TV's and a walk in closet. Very nice. Since the room is on a corner we have windows on 2 sides. The balcony on the side face a sand volleyball area and the front window faces the water. I don't know where they show the movie and the beach night but I can tell you it was "Lion King" because we could hear it from our room. This is not a negative comment though, as I love the movie. I would've gone down to find out where it was playing, but like I said before we both feel like zombies. In our short time here there are no fly problems that we have seen. Tomorrow Epcot.

What is wrong with your friend?! Does she not understand the urgency of making plans? If you don't start making solid plans now, you will run out of time to change your mind many times before the start of the trip. :)

Anyone that will be at SAB tomorrow. We will be there from around 2 to whenever. If anyone is interested in meeting at a spot, I'm game...

Too tired to upload pix. The flowers are particularly beautiful with the generous gift of rain the April vacationers gave... thank you!

We got to the resort at 3:00 checked in... room close to elevator wasn't ready but a far one was so we jumped on it. Has a double balcony that goes the length of the villa.

Overlooks the canal in front of the Beach Club, Quiet Pool to the left and parking lot to the right. We like it a lot!

We went to Epcot with just enough time to spare to get to our 7:15p Garden Grill ADR. We ate too much of course... Delicious as always, and the characters were great. Pluto was hilarious!!! Licking us, tickling my daughter... Always have a great time at the GG.

Then we went on Figment (a family fav), hit SSE, and called it a night.

We will have our first real day at Epcot tomorrow.

Technology update: forgive me if this is not news, can't keep straight what is new. We got our AP's at the IG and they issued us RFID cards, no need to go into Epcot to exchange. The iPad ladies were waiting for us and walked each party to a checkin castmember... I think mine was new (no earning my ears tag, but certainly not seasoned) so it took a while to do online checkin... oh well, we had no place we had to be and he was polite, not overly friendly, but he seemed shy. No issues with keys, room is good, no issues.

SAB was functioning very well, had a blast... Tough to get Kayla out even to go to Epcot.... LOVE SAB - esp for parents of only children who think it is her parents' jobs to entertain her 24/7 (no hyperbole there..... alright, but you kow what I mean...).

So far we are having a wonderful time and are looking forward to more fun!

We are on DME listening to Soarin'. Walked right on to a full bus. No line at all. Jetblue was wonderful in regards to crunchy. They wheeled daughter from checkin to gate. No wait for TSA at all. Smoothest start to our vacation evah.!!!

Sounds great! Hope the rest of your vacation is just as smooth.

Sounds great! We had a GV CL room facing volleyball court and could see the higher illuminations from our balcony. We didn't find this out till our last night :sad2: cause we were in our room packing!!

Also maybe back to Teppan Edo or maybe Rose and Crown since it is so close...

Dying to get these reservations done!!! LOL

Here's my advice...

Most of these reservations do not have the cancellation penalty (Tusker if you are going to a character meal, Park faire. Does WCC or Teppan?). Good solid choices BTW. I pick Boma if I get a vote!

If you don't hear from your friends soon, make the reservations for the days/time you think best, for all of you. Then, if there is something they want to change, you can adjust the plan, but at least you have something in place.

I will caution that is exactly what I did, with a much smaller traveling base (4). Then when I informed the family where we were dining and when, they all whined "that's too late". Then when we reviewed our plans for each day, they realized the reservations were good. :sad2:

DD loves the DME. I tried to convince her and DH to use a limo service thus year, and make a grocery stop..... You would have swore I asked them to jump off a bridge:). She loves when the welcome movie plays!!!

We love it too!! The one and only time we rented a car at WDW it felt like something was missing as we drove on site. (Of course the first time we drove ourselves to DTD instead of taking the bus we knew it was worth it ;))

We love DME, too!!! Unfortunately, the way we have structured this year's trip, we will only be using the Magical Depress on the way back to the airport.

:sad1:

Only a few more weeks and I will be paying the balance for our Beach Club stay:). I want to put in a room request at the same time. We have booked a garden view room, would people recommend full balcony or patio.

Now, the good thing about requesting a patio, is that you have lots of space and I think if you get a first floor room, all of them have patios, so you wouln't be disappointed about receiving a smaller balcony. But personally, I don't think I would like one. I would be concerned with a lack of privacy as people walk by.

Maybe some folks who have stayed in a room with a patio can comment about whether privacy was a concern with these rooms.

I don't remember if I gave you an official welcome when you first posted to this thread, so here you go...

:welcome:

Any chance you have an upcoming trip to the Beach Club planned?

As I was searching for a photo to post of Teena, I thought I would share these, taken by a guest who was in the lobby when Teena received a service award from President Obama in 2011 for her hours and hours helping out at her daughter Jeanne's school in Las Vegas:

I never met Art and I don't have any pictures of him in my files, but if you search for Art the Beach Club Greeter here on the Dis or even on google, I bet you can find some
