I was on that bus too!! I couldn't believe how quickly and calmly that situation was resolved.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

:wave2: yep , I was really impressed. I thought it was weird how the bus just kind of "died"!

Now my observation from Storm Along Bay this afternoon: there was hardly anyone in the pool, but almost every chair had a towel on it. Usually the pool CMs sem to be pretty good about policing that kind of thing, but I didn't see anyone doing that today.I even noticed some dirty towels on the rocks near the volleyball area, a pool cm just ignored them.

SNIP!
Now my observation from Storm Along Bay this afternoon: there was hardly anyone in the pool, but almost every chair had a towel on it.

OoooOOh! It's a little early in the season for towel drama! I was just thinking about the kerfluffle that happens every summer during high season at Storm Along Bay with the chair hogs/Towel on chair savers.

Remember for those of you going in the summer.... WHAT IS NINJA MOM'S CARDINAL RULE TO DEAL WITH CHAIR HOGS??

What's that??

Peanut gallery replies: "MOVE the chair with the towel on it to a DIFFERENT spot...."

Why Yes!! That's correct and it's because......

Peanut gallery replies: The person who WAS hogging the chair won't know where you moved it and thus can not go all righteous on you because you will have disappeared into the crowd and piggy won't have any idea where to find you.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't touch a chair that has someone's personal property on it, only move the ones that have hotel towels on 'em.

Here's another tip: Never take valuables to the pool. If you must then be sure to lock them up in a locker. Lockers are available indoors at the fitness center and there are some rusty, mostly broken ones right where they rent out the tubes by the Volleyball rope in the largest pool. That's where you would get the key to the outdoor lockers. In the fitness center you just program your own numerical lock code into the lockers key pad. So say you have your kindle with you but you want to go in the pool for a dip. Use the locker or the kindle may walk.

So there is your tip for the day! I know some of you are listening and I fully expect to hear reports of how some of you had to convince your spouses that "someone named Ninja Mom told you you have to move these chairs otherwise you will get chased by a pig"... Mwa ha ha!

Were they clean towels? Because I've seen them put clean towels on all the loungers in the morning.

What is your very favorite thing about staying at the Beach Club/Yacht Club? Inquiring minds want to know :)

I agree about the location part but there is also a 'vibe' that the only way explain is experience. The Y&BC and WL are the ones that do it for me. We have also stayed Poly, CR, AKL, GF and all the DVC resorts. We stayed at CR and BLT in January before moving over to BCV's. The whole time we were there my mind was on getting to the BC.

I know others are just as passionate about their own resort favorites. But when we got to BC I told my wife as we were walking in from the lake side entrance "This. This is it. This is home."

:smooth: I could go and just sit in the rockers on the porch and be happy. :smooth:

Less than 2 weeks to go for us and I do have some random questions, I havent read the whole thread, so excuse me if they have been answered before

1. Can we renew our annual passes at the resort or do we have to go to a park? Depending on that answer we will swim or get the passes. TIA

2. In regard to the flies - does bug spray with deet work, should I pack this and anti itch creme?

3. Internet access - how do we deal with this? In Dec. it was horrendous. Dh could never get connected. The only place he could work was the lobby and he really didnt want to do that as he has to talk on the phone for business and look at the screen etc. We also had another computer I tried and it was about useless for connecting as well I dont know if it was our location by the volleyball area or just general overall abysmal connections. I did write about this in my resort survey last time. It seemed all the questions they were asking were about the digital alarm clock in the room instead:confused3

4. This is club level stuff (I am the one who needs bottled water to take my meds). Would they give you bottled water if you asked at 5 pm. I did read you can ask for it in the morning to take to the parks, but I have to take some meds later when I eat dinner etc. so I would need it then too.

5, Another club questions - would it be considered bad manners or unacceptable if dh has his mickey travel mug and fills it up with the ice tea or cranberry juice I see pictured? Thinking he could take this with him as he is not a big soda person etc.

TIA.

If it were me, I would just go naked, that way you will dry off quicker. I know my boys like that light weight performance dry tech or whatever it is called, polyester. Their coaches make them practice in all kinds of weather and they say they dry off pretty quickly when wearing that stuff. It even comes in shorts.

Not in any particular order:

SAB
Location
Color scheme
Beaches and Cream
The smell of the lobby
The most wonderful CM's at WDW
Friendship boat
The fact that YC/BC thread has the friendliest posters on the entire DIS boards
Location
SAB

Please pardon the redundant items on my list....they warrant being on there twice!

SueM, have not tried the lobster and shrimp roll from HH. I doubt if we will. Saw someone order it yesterday and it looked nasty! Who knows, Jim might get really hungry and it eat one. I will let you know.
Thanks

I think you are right. One recent guest ordered it two days in a row. The first day she really enjoyed it and the second day, not so much.

I plan to give it a try, but the BW lobster roll is also very tempting!!!
Yup, me too, maybe we'll be lucky and get good ones!

Jim just had the lobster roll from HH. He was not impressed at all! BW Bakery was much better. Oh and he had 2 baby duck nibbling at his toes as we ate.
Guess I'll have to put BWI on the list! Since lobster is no longer on Gasperillas :sad1:
What was the difference in the HH & BWI roll?

My reasons to love the Beach Club:

Location*
Awesome CMs
SAB

And of course all of the excitement I get from the people who post here about their experiences.

* My husband and I loved the Beach Club before it even existed. From the first time we saw the Swan and Dolphin, we fantasized about how wonderful it would be to stay at a resort that was walking distance from our favorite park! Our dream was more than fulfilled with our first stay at the Beach Club in 2009.

And 2 months from today, we will be checking into Beach Club once again.

:goodvibes

So busy getting ready to go (why do I always need to buy so much junk before I go to WDW. I swear we have no clothes, no shoes, etc...

What is your very favorite thing about staying at the Beach Club/Yacht Club? Inquiring minds want to know :)
Teena!
Then.... SAB is an only child's parents' dream. She can be in that pool complex for hours and need no help to have fun from either parent. I love to snag a lounger on top of the lighthouse or whatever (above the bathrooms) and I have a good view of the whole area to spot Kayla.
Of course as others have said, the walk to EPCOT can't be beat. The CM's are amazing. The vibe, the colors, the beautiful scent of the lobby... I could go on and on...

Lol, we spent the day at SAB. I keep looking around wondering who I have been chatting with on DIS for months. DH thinks I'm a nut.

He may be on to something. Although... my husband thinks I'm a nut also. :confused3

May weather is gorgeous. The parks are wonderful. BC is magical. What a great vacation!!! I'm looking forward to writing a TR!

Glad to hear this as I am leaving... TOMORROW!!!

Please use caution when following this woman's advice. It is rumored that she is no Ninja and there have been whisperings that the N in NM actually stands for NUTTER!

  1. I believe you can renew your passes at the resort. If that is not the case, remember the IG GS location may be closer to your room than SAB so easy enough to get to and back rather quickly.
  2. Bug spray doesn't usually work on flies IMHO. I've heard that Skin So Soft works better, but I've never tried it. I would avoid DEET because it is gross and there have been NO reports of biting flies. The only time I'll be using bug repellant is when we do the Night Vision Goggles thing at AKL at the end of our trip because of reports of No See Ums chompin' on guests.
  3. Don't know if Wifi has improved. Can you use one of your phones as a hotspot? If you don't have the service you can add it right before your trip and remove it right after. We did this during one of the big storms here where we lost power for almost a week. It didn't cost very much for just a few days.
  4. I've never stayed CL, but I'm sure they would give you bottled water if you asked. Also, don't see why it wouldn't be out at 5PM.
  5. I think that would be fine, but I'm sure some of the CL folks will chime in soon!

Well! I feel good... I think I am caught up now!

What was the difference in the HH & BWI roll?

Lobster Roll Review:
(from someone who has never had a lobster roll at Disney, but is not afraid to rate 'em anyway)

4- Columbia Harbor House- most reports are that this is just nasty. Swimming in mayo.

3- Hurricane Hannah's- more of a "seafood roll", with shrimp and sometimes scallops joining the lobster. Citrus mayo. Definitely not traditional New England style roll, but it sounds really yummy to me, however reports have been mixed.

:confused3

shrimpandlobsterroll-2.jpg

2- Lobster roll sliders at Captain's Grille at lunch. Reports are that these are super yummy, but it takes the runner-up spot since this restaurant is not a QS location

*1* Boardwalk Bakery- from all of the reports I have read (2)- this is a clear winner! All lobster meat, perfect amount of mayo.

We need pictures, people!!!

1. Dunno...is it possible to renew online and do "will call" pickup, we only had APs one year and I could've sworn you needed to renew at the gate though
2. No clue, but I always pack anti itch cream-I have a very whiney 6 year oldprincess:
3.No clue
4. If they don't have any left, would the big bottles of Evian work? Totally forgot about meds...but knowing me not sure how I would
5. I am no expert, only did CL once...but I see no problem with this at all!

HTH and enjoy!

Photopass Question: Thinking of using this for the first time ever.....Has anyone here used it? Would you do it again? is it as convenient as it looks?
Did you register your Photopass card at BC?

And lastly, at the end of your trip WHAT do you do? Do you have to go to some guest relations place to turn in the card?

And lastly, lastly, what happens if we split up and both need the card?

We used the Photopass Plus card for our last trip. It was worth it to us because we had three families, which included the two grandchildren age 3 and 5, and were doing several meals that included pictures. The pictures are delivered to your table during the meal which made it nice. You also can get the ride pictures loaded to your photopass pictures.

You have to create an account on the Photopass website and put your PP number in to see your pictures. You can add additional regular photopass cards to your account, so if you forget to bring the PP+ card to the park but want to have a picture taken, just get a card from the photographer and add it to your account. You can also upload your personal pictures to the PP website, but be aware of the fact that you can't easily download them again. We made an album from both the professional pictures and our own, and it was really convenient. :)
