You've created a monster, MouseMommy :) The girls eagerly jumped on the matching shirt bandwagon, so DH is outvoted :) He grudgingly agreed to wear one of the Miss Morgan shirts (to Magic Kingdom only ;) )...what he doesn't know is that I'm planning on trying my hand with bleach art too...maybe using pumpkin carving templates of Jack Skellington, or Perry the Platypus, or maybe trying my hand at Oswald (from Epic Mickey)- although he looks hard!

LOL!!! My DH is soooo outvoted, but he learned early, that there is no "NO" when it comes to Disney. He actually tells people this when they rib him about his shirts. :lmao:

My DH LOVES Jack Skellington! And on the days that he is not wearing one of our custom designs, he has plenty of his Jack shirts to choose from. ::yes::

Hi everyone, we are currently scheduled at akl for two nights. We are only going to magic kingdom. I think the dining options look much better at bc/yc area. For the spring discount just yc is left. Are there any negatives for YC over BC. We plan on swimming a lot. I always hear BC talk but not YC, why is it not as common?

Thanks:)

:welcome:

That's a great question. I don't know why people talk about BC more. I have a slight preference for the Beach Club because of the lighter decor but I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to stay at the Yacht Club.

Of course, the big advantage of the YC is that all of the rooms have full balconies and only about half of the ones at BC do.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay!

May I add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1? When is your trip?

:woohoo:

We're booked in a CL standard view room at YC for just our first two nights (4-7 through 4-9) and then on the 9th, we're moving to a garden view at YC. I did online check-in for both reservations, and on the second one, noted that we'd be "arriving" at 7:30 a.m. I did this in the hopes that I could possibly drop our bags right into the new room. Any chance this could happen?

Kanga- are all of the people in your party over the age of 3?

If the answer is yes, Teena, should the request just be for the full balcony? With a family of 5, they should get a room that will sleep everyone, right? Either a daybed or rollaway cot?

Yes all are over 3. Thanks everyone! I feel much better now!

Just called to apply the new visa discount that was released today to my existing reservation BC CL 1 bedroom suite 6/24 through 6/28. The discount came out to only 5%. I'm a little disappointed. But I guess something is better than nothing.

I'm wondering if it's because of the room type. Has anyone else called for the discount?

I must say this is the first time I got a Disney representative that was not quite so helpful. She actually transferred me to the survey before I was completely done. I wanted to make a payment but she didn't give me the chance.

SHHHHH!!! (Come closer) :cool2: :ssst:

The reason that we don't talk about the Yacht Club is because it is our back up plan for when we make the BC SOOOO popular that even us groupies can't get a reservation.

To be honest, the Beach Club is like the popular sister, sort of like the Marsha Brady of resorts. The BC has the Market Place and it has all the cool CM's hanging there, like Teena. It's like a noisy, loud party and it's only a matter of time before Davy Jones strolls in through the doors and tries to check in. Unfortunately the groupies overwhelm him and he has to take off.

Now when we are talking about the Yacht Club, we are talking Jan Brady all the way. Like Jan, the YC is classy but in a nerdy way. It's white knee socks are pulled up a little too high and and all that nautical decor is a little like one of Jan's jumpers, sturdy, timeless and 100 % polyester. Instead of of Davy Jones running around the resort singing to unsuspecting middle aged women you have the George Glass's of the world hurrying to and fro, on the way to their conventions, with no time what so ever for flirting.

All kidding aside, I think the main difference is that the Beach Club is more family oriented and the Yacht Club is a convention resort, which means it's target guest is the business traveler. The reality is that both resorts are just decorated buildings with almost identical amenities, many of them shared and certainly families are just as welcome at the Yacht Club as they would be at the Art of Animation. The difference is primarily in the decorations and marketing. If I pulled up with a bus load of toddlers I would have no problem booking the Yacht Club for my stay, in fact the Yacht Club is actually closer to the kid's area at Storm Along Bay.

The other reason that we talk so much about the Beach Club is because our friend Teena is there. She means the world to us and she's provided endless answers to all of our questions. We love her common sense, tell it like it really is approach. She helps us with answers and opinions whenever she can and that helps making plans for our Disney vacation all the better.

So there you have it!

We personally prefer the BC because our favorite rooms are the ones that face the woods, closest to Epcot. We love being in that quiet area. It is really relaxing over there. We also love being so close to the IG. We aren't big fans of HS, so we find ourselves running in and out of Epcot daily. :)

But the YC is a wonderful place to stay. If a full balcony is a make or break deal, then you can't go wrong there. And it has some absolutely great lagoon view rooms. :)

I called for discount but only on a standard non-CL room not a suite. Discount was 30%. Not sure of your needs, but is it possible 2 rooms with 30% discount would work out to be less money but stood work for you?

Sorry you had a less than magical experience with your CM. You could always call again and would hope you would have a better go.

I am guessing your survey responses were not filled with "1" buttons. ;-)

DH & I love both! We stayed at BC in 2011, and YC in 2012. I agree that BC lobby is very light & airy, & that YC is lots of dark wood, but other than that the rooms are just the same pretty much other than you're more likely to get full balcony at YC. My DH said YC was his favorite of the 2, but would stay in either no questions asked (I'm just so happy to be there:lovestruc that either make me happy). He liked being closer to boat launch as he has a bad knee. We also did Deluxe Dining plan last time, so it didn't matter to us to not have QS Marketplace right in same building. Also YC seems a little closer to SAB in my mind, we used SAB exclusively during YC stay where when we stayed BC we mainly used the quiet pool as our room overlooked it. You'll love the Epcot area as there's so much to do there!!!!! :thumbsup2

Hooray!! We just booked our first ever split stay! We will be at the YC 6/15-6/19. I seriously cannot wait to sink back into SAB!! :beach:

Dee, please add us to the list!! :cool1:

OK Dee, just made our official reservations!!!

We did a little adjusting.........our first Split Stay :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We will be at the Poly from July 19th - 23rd, then will head over to BC from 23rd to 27th.!!!!

It finally feels like it's getting closer!!
