One more kind of specific question that only this board might be able to answer...

How many BC CL std view room are there and how many have a full balcony?

Thanks in advance!

ski

According to the info I have gathered over the years, there are around 40 BC SV rooms and all but a handful (around 5) have full balconies.

Pretty good odds.

BC CL std view rooms - 38. Not 100% sure about how many have full balconies but I believe all but two or three. One has a king bed and twelve have daybeds.

Lots of catching up to do.

Yes, the spa/salon is open.

I actually checked out the spa in July, for research purposes only- I took some pictures and took a price list I think, but I haven't posted any of these yet.

I'll try to get to that in the next couple of days.

Ninja Mom’s Tips for the newly married woman.

In honor of Missy’s impending nuptials I thought I would throw some tips her way. These tips are designed to help those bashful brides navigate the morass that is marriage.

Tip #1 One of you will snore. The other will claim not to. It makes no difference who is doing the snoring and who is doing the poking as neither one of you will get any sleep.

Tip #2 Avoid those “seat was left up” arguments by removing it entirely and telling him you are doing the bathroom in “Prison Chic”. This should be enough to shock him into remembering to keep the seat down at all times. If he should forget and leave the seat up, drag out the tools and make a big show of telling him you have to run to Home Depot and buy a bigger seat removal wrench.

Tip #3 Your freshly minted husband will now feel perfectly comfortable eating up your left-overs without your permission from your last restaurant trip. To avoid this heinous theft hide your left overs in a Tupperware container marked “Salad”. It’s the last place a husband will look for food.

Tip #4 Only buy pink razors with girly smelling shaving cream if you want to avoid having your husband replace his rusty antique blades with one of yours. Enough said!

Tip #5 Closet space! You get all of it; he has the corner of the linen closet, until Macy’s has a white sale.

Tip #6 The thermostat! Always remember that YOUR hormones determine the temperature of the house at any given season. Men will always try to save money by making the house cold in the winter. They are hairy and have more ‘insulation’. Anytime you catch your husband by the thermostat trying to turn it down tell him your ovaries are getting angry and he wouldn’t want that.

Tip #7 Do not go to the grocery store together. There is not a shopping cart made that will fit all of your junk and all of his junk. One day you will get old and bored and you will shuffle off to the grocery store together, arguing over the shape of the pasta and whose turn it is to pick the cookies. Now is not the time for that. Shop alone or spend double.

Tip #8 The holidays are really a game of tug of war between your two families. Until a teleporter is invented that will instantly transport you between the two households get used to a lot of driving. If you want to stay home for the holidays then the best way to end the traveling is to have children. When you have children the Grandparents will beat down your door to get inside and you will have to get a restraining order and 3 pit bulls to keep them out. At least you will be staying home for the holidays.

Tip #9 When one of you cooks the other one does the dishes. Ordering take out is not cooking but the one who drives to get the take out is off clean up duty.

Tip #10 Go to bed ANGRY! Your other half will be intimidated and will be less likely to steal the covers in the middle of the night.

Now remember, follow these tips faithfully and you'll be a guest on Dr. Phil's show in no time!

I'm honored to be the inspiration for a such a truly inspired list! I will take them all to heart, as they are clearly the keys to our new union. :lmao:

NM ~ As an old married woman of 40 years I completely agree with all your commandments... er, tips! I have one amendment, however...

#8 ~ Plan to spend Christmas at WDW every year. That way, if the grandparents want to see the kiddies you still have your own room to escape to. And, they will often pay for some of the meals...

An excellent plan! It also helps to be entering into a Jewish-Buddhist union in which my new husband's family only started celebrating Christmas after they moved to the U.S. and Franklin was born, so the kids would feel more Americanized. Holidays for everyone!

So, travel agent said that the more requests we make or the more specific our request, the less chance we have of getting it. Our #1 request is a daybed. And it would be nice to have a bit of a bigger room if we got a -606 room. Leave it up to pixiedust: and we'll see what happens. *fingerscrossed*

Your travel agent is correct.

We spent every Christmas from 1996-2010 at WDW. We took Christmas trees (decorated with the theme of our resort), stockings, wreaths for our doors and all the Christmas presents that Santa would bring. It was a glorious way to celebrate with our daughters!

I am sitting here on our last night at BC. Insert sad face:(. It has been a fabulous week here. I wish I had realized my last chat with Teena was my "last" chat with her so "bye Teena!!" PS Devon and Matt have been talking about you all week!! It was lovely to meet you!! Everyone on this thread has been so helpful! The pool here us awesome and my whole family had a blast. Proximity to EPCOT and HS can't be beat! We don't want to leave!! MB and FP+ worked flawlessly and made for no waits for rides. And we did Everything!!!! Concerts at F & W rocked!! I will leave you all with this picture while I spend my last day in AK!!!

Thanks again everyone!!! This is my daughter with Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray. She has no fear and got this pic mid-song!!!

Awesome picture Sue!

As for room requests I just put down "Some where near Orlando" and I ALWAYS get my room request. Pbbbtttt.....

But seriously, I just phoned in my room requests today. For Pop I put ground floor near transportation and for CBR I put ground floor near bridge. having done that I am certain that I shall be placed in East Japip in the middle of an alligator infested lake.

That's why I NEVER do advanced check in! At the desk I whip out my printed at home copy of the resort map (Reader's Digest large print edition, not that tiny half paged thing that only owls can see!) and when they tell me that my room is no where near where I had Requested I KINDLY ask them to see if they can get me closer.

If they give me that sad face and say they can't help me I bring in THE BIG GUNS and whip out my Tupperware container of home made, enough chocolate chips to put ya in a Diabetic Coma, chocolate chip cookies and let the aroma waft in the resort CM's general direction. I tell them I have zip lock bags and I'd be more than happy to stuff one full of cookies if I can get my way. After a few furtive looks to see if a manager is around they tappy tap on the computer and Wa LAA! The Orange County Sheriff is summoned to escort me off of property.

The moral of this tall tale is not to do on line check in when you have room requests. THAT way you can make changes on the fly a lot easier if you should find yourself in a situation where the requests are not matching up with what you have been assigned. Yeah sure, that My Disney experience is TEMPTING you to do advanced check in but DON'T DO IT IF YOU HAVE ROOM REQUESTS THAT ARE IMPORTANT! Step away from the computer and talk face to face with your CM at the resort. They really want to be able to help you so ask nicely and see what they can do.

I am really excited to say that I just booked our third stay at the YC tonight. Dee, could you please add my family to your list? We will be staying in a garden view club level room from June 21-June 28. Thank you for all that you do to make this thread run so smoothly. It truly is a site that I can come to and relax, laugh, and dream about trips to come.

Just wanted to check in and say a quick hello! It's been a while, but our Disneymoon at YC is fast approaching! The wedding is 10 days from now and we'll arrive at YC in 11 days :) I've been quietly reading along with the thread and have really been enjoying everyone's live reports! Can't wait to join the fun!

ONE MORE WEEK!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

So happy for you!

Yep they had a wall of stuff... located by the back register in the clothes section.

The free accessory is the year 2013 glows in the dark! I saw a lot of them, but didn't know where they got them... then I heard when I got home that the front desk had them if you asked, so worth the ask when you arrive!

Thanks for the info regarding the bandits to decorate the MBs!

Hi All, we will be there 10-17 thru 10-22. Could we please be added to the BOG list. We will be stay at YC. Looking forward to staying here again.

Laura

:welcome: back

Will do!!!

:cool1:

Ahem! I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk! :rotfl2:

I am excited to say that our family will be returning to the BC/YC next summer! This year (in April) we had a great 10 nights at YC CL and next summer, we will hop over to the other side and are booked at BC GV CL for another 10 nights from 8/16/14 - 8/26/14!!! :cool1:

:cool1:

So, what should I know about the GV CL rooms?

:welcome: back!!!

Adding you on to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

There are only a few BC CL GV rooms. They all have full balconies, I believe but I think only one has a daybed. Parties with more than 4 members can't book these rooms.

Some of the views overlook the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard. We had one of these rooms 5631 and the people-watching was AWESOME!

I have posted pictures in the View Thread- I'll post links in a response below.

Good morning, BC Friends! :sunny:

I am starting to get very excited for our upcoming trip. We arrive in WDW three weeks from today and make the move from AKL to BC on November 2.

Both our daughters and their travel companions have everything set (finally) and we are ready to celebrate a lot of good things. :goodvibes

I cannot believe we have been married 40 years this year! Most days it seems as if we just started dating in HS 45 years ago. Older DD will celebrate her 35th birthday with this month too, and her guy will have his in October also.

My husband's last CT scans gave us some renewed hope for continued improvement from his stroke and he was able to stop taking coumadin for the first time in 32 months. :yay:

And, to top it off he presented me with a gorgeous new anniversary band that I am dying to wear. :rotfl: I love diamonds and this is a pave' ring that I will probably only wear on special occasions. I am planning to make all of our dinners while on this trip "special occasions" so I can feel justified in wearing it! ;) ::yes::

I am very much looking forward to seeing Teena again as well as meeting up with many of you. Nannette, I will see you at AKL (we both have our BC/YC pins so it shouldn't be hard to find one another in the CL!

If anyone who is going to be at BC/YC from 11/2-11/9 wants to get together, please PM me and we can exchange cell numbers. :yay:

Thanks for sharing your excitement about your upcoming trip. Sounds like it will be very special.

:goodvibes

I agree 100%. Make every single day count because you never know when it will turn 180 degrees on you. My philosophy is that if you wake up in the morning and the sun comes up you have absolutely no reason to be anything other than HAPPY! :sunny:

Thanks for sharing in my excitement. :goodvibes

This.

Thank you so much for the important reminder.

Aaaaaand just like that, we're back at YC. We love both, but DH and the kids love the full balcony, so we figured we'd switch back just to have a better chance of having one. I am sure the reservation people think I'm insane.

Got it!!! I'll make the change.

:)

I'm hoping you can help me...
In order to get from BC to EPCOT, do we walk by BWI, or is that on the way to DHS? Does anyone have a map showing YC/BC/BWI together?

Just trying to plan some QS lunches, and on days when we have a late start (pool AM), I was thinking we could do Hurricane Hanna's one day, and Boardwalk Bakery the other before heading out to the parks...

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm not sure if I have welcomed you yet, so

:welcome:

When is your trip?

:goodvibes

I have a ? for you folks... we have a huge multi-birthday + anniversary trip planned with our fam of 4, my mother, my brother and his wife late may. This will be my brothers first & prob his only visit to the world as an adult. We are going for spectacular! We were hoping to do poly but are currently set with Std CL at the beach club due to the construction. Do the standards really have bad views? Is club level really that small, with no awesome view, & offerings that run out??? I keep seeing all of these posts in searches and it's making me wonder if I made the wrong choice. Please let me know I'm wrong and that I just keep stumbling upon nay-sayers!

:welcome:

I will add you on to the Be Our Guest list. Sounds like a great family trip with lots of celebrations!!!

:woohoo:

Here's the skinny on the BC CL-

I have stayed there three times, one SV, one GV and one WV.

The standard view room, 5670, overlooked the front entrance/parking lot. The straight on view was of a large tree, but to the right I could see a few Illuminations fireworks and on the left we had a nice view of the MK fireworks.

Another recent guest just posted a view that included The Land and Spaceship Earth. That would be incredible!!!

I have set up a thread where people can post samples of their views in various categories. Room numbers starting with 5XXX are CL.

As far as the lounge itself- yes it is a little small, but there are plans for it to be expanded. You are correct- there is no spectacular view from the lounge. As far as offerings running out, that has more to do with guests who take plates full of food intending to make a meal out of the evening appetizers. The CM Staff tries to keep up with refills of the hot appetizers.

We have heard that the BC club lounge is going to be expanded. Soon. But we haven't been given a firm date yet. Originally we thought it might be the beginning of the year, but I haven't heard any chatter recently which makes me think it will be later than that.

While construction is taking place, the lounge will be moved to the Presidential Suite (HOW COOL IS THAT???). Now, I haven't stayed there- yet- but I'm betting the view is pretty awesome!

I don't know yet what will be happening in late May during your trip. As soon as we have more definitive info, we will post it here.

ROOM VIEWS

What will the view from my room be?

Effective with reservations on January 1, 2011, the view categories at the Beach and Yacht Clubs were reclassified into 3 booking categories:

Standard view- parking lot or rooftops
Garden view- something green- trees or courtyard
Lagoon or Water view- lake or pool

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

The purpose of these threads is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories (standard, garden, lagoon/pool) at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

Quick question on cl - if we have 5, but intend to do 2 rooms, can we put all 5 of us on a cl room reservation, then 1 or two of us in a separate non-club room? In other words, at least 1 of us (or 2) would have simultaneous reservations in a club and non-club room. I assume the answer would be same for any cl resort. Thanks!
