2012? No Problem...but when?

I just stay in my jammies. :-)

Like today I have to drive my son since we both slept in a bit but I will still be in my pjs when I drop him off. LOL.

I hope you can get your surgery day all figured out. It is amazing how much you count on your ability to drive places.

There was an interesting article in the AJC living section about a man who is attending the 50 th anniversary of the march on Washington. Your movie review got me thinking about it. My children enjoyed visiting the MLK center in Atlanta last year. It was a very eye opening experience for them and something that makes you think.

LOL...if I stay in my jammies I am guaranteed to have car problems! As it was, I ended up having to stay at school yesterday dealing with lost paperwork. (incompetent school) And I usually do my errands after I drop him off. So being dressed is a must!

Yesterday was a bit of a rough day!

Of course, the one saving grace was that it was done with local instead of general, so I was able to drink my coffee!

Currently my head feels like a ton of tiny little pokers are shooting tiny pricks of fire into my scalp. While it is not truly painful, it is definitely uncomfortable. These are the gazillion stitches I have! When I asked how many stitches he put in, he would only say more than I would think! Luckily I will be able to wash my hair this morning. Between the wonderful gel they put in my hair to keep it out of the way, the antiseptic 'stuff' they put on the back of my head, and the fact that I ended up loosing a bit more blood than they though I would, my hair is a MESS!

While I was instructed to NOT brush or comb my hair, I am assuming that I can after I wash it this morning...at least I HOPE so!

I wasn't sure how much pain to expect, but I only had true pain once yesterday afternoon, so I took a half percocet and thought i would sleep a while. It did not make me sleepy (which is a first) but it did stop the pain. I didn't really sleep very well last night...hard to sleep when you have three new holes in your head. My kids told me I should have gotten a doughnut pillow to sleep on...they were probably right! LOL

I did have a bit of drama during the procedure... the smallest cyst was saved for last. As true to form for my body, those things that are expected to be easy become difficult! That tiny bump contained three cysts!

After taking those out, he looked around and said I still had tons of tiny ones all over the place. So I may have ot go back in a few years and have some more removed. They are not dangerous, and have not been shown to become cancerous (although they have the same make up as most cancers), so we will take a wait and see attitude with them.

Last night my daughter brought me the set of Downton Abbey season 3. I did not become addicted to the series until after season 3 was already on, and did not want to see them out of order, so she went by the library and picked them up for me.

And on a side note...yesterday was a strange day for my taste buds. While I only got several local lidocaine shots, I could not taste anything all day! The burger and fries my husband brought home from one of my favorite local places for lunch tasted like cardboard. Smelled fantastic, but had virtually no taste. Then for dinner last night he brought home pizza....and it tasted the same...nothing ness!

At least my coffee tasted great this morning so I am feeling great!

Nini

Glad that they were able to do the procedure yesterday. Very wierd about not bein able to taste but it sounds like the coffee may have cured it. ;)

Hope you can get some rest and the pain is over.

I saw that they were coming out with Downtown Abbey (sp???) fabric in January. That was sweet of your daughter to get the shows for you.

How is your daughter adjusting to life wih a baby?

Thanks Liz...(I thought I grabbed your quote but I guess not!)

She is doing great as a stay at home mom! She is so funny, she keeps asking how in the world other mom's manage to go back to work! She sleeps only a few hours at a time and her perfectly kept house is not so perfectly kept any more!

Miss Mia is going through a stage where she only wants to nap with Mommy holding her...and has definitely decided that she likes to smile at strangers...but no one is allowed to hold her!

At the Grand Princess' birthday party last night, Miss Mia would not allow her uncle Shawn to hold her...without screaming!

I am g oing to attempt to post a picture of his second attempt...just before she started screaming...

Anyway... I am feeling a little better today. Still a bit dizzy, although that is not so much from the procedure as it is from the fact that I had to hold my head very still during it and the neck muscles are not what they should be after my neck surgery.

The funniest thing...I can NOT brush or flat iron my hair! Running anything more than my fingers through my hair cause each and every hair to shoot pain through my scalp! It really is sort of comical! If someone brushes up against me and my hair moves I cringe! I'm hoping the sensitivity goes away pretty soon. So many people have not seen me with my hair 'natural' that quite a few people had no clue who I was last night! LOL!

As I am sitting here typing this in I look around at how horrible my house looks! Yup I am feeling better...yesterday I did not care how the house looked...so I guess I know what I will be doing after church today...

A few updates...

I got the cutest door decorations from a shop on FaceBook. She makes simple cute inexpensive magnetic door decorations (primarily for cruises). In June we got Mickey/Minnie heads with our names on them. They worked perfectly for identifying our room. Mr D did not ONCE go to the wrong room and bang to get in!

With the possibility of Magic Bands this trip, making sure he will go to the right room is even more important!

We got a Christmas tree with Disney ornaments on one and a wreath made of Green and Red Mickey heads for the other room. I thought I had bought some Mickey Head Christmas lights last year but can not find them. I bought them on clearance, and must have packed them in the boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations...so I probably won't find them until after we get back.

I have some suction cup clips on my list so we can put lights in the window. I guess I better add some Mickey Head lights (or regular Christmas lights if I can't find them) to put in the window.

I would like to make some window clings as well...but I seriously doubt I will get time.

I think I will change around my shirt plan and make a few extra with a Christmas theme. I have three or four on the plan currently, but really want to have a few more. ....And...in the general Christmas theme...I made a Christmas gift yesterday! I am making my daughter and daughters in law quilted casserole covers. I will stick a covered casserole in there as well. Not the usual over the top presents I normally give, but both money and time will be tight...so they will have to deal.

Still having a bit of a problem sleeping. Only one on the sites is giving me a problem, but it is bad enough I have to take a half percocet in order to sleep. Hopefully this will stop once the stitches are out next week.

At this point I don't know if I should close with Merry Christmas or Happy Disney! LOL!!

Sitting at the computer looking out at my back yard...realizing it is a jungle out there! Seriously!

Three years ago, we put in an above ground pool. Our back yard has a gentle slope to it, but looked fairly flat. We had to have a large chuck of land dug out so we could get a level spot to put the pool.

The guy that leveled the back yard was our tenant...he never came back to level out the extra dirt, so we have a large mound of dirt in the back yard. He sold his bobcat...so we have been looking for someone to do it ever since.

The past 2 years, my husband has done a good job of keeping the weeds off the 'hill'...but has failed miserably this year. The hill is about 5 foot high and 10 foot across. The first year we planted watermelons on top...never did eat one of them but it was fun to see them grow.

This year it is full of weeds...very HIGH weeds...some of them are reaching at least 6 foot tall! (and we won't mention that they appear to be rag weed....) Add to that the fact that the hill sits really close to the back corner...where we have a 'natural' area. For some reason, when this subdivision was built, the developer had a certain percentage of each lot set aside as 'natural' vegetation. Ours is in the back corner. It is not required that it stay that way...but the builder could not 'improve' that portion of the yard. (At least our natural area is not in the front yard!)

We have had numerous plans for this portion...just never had a chance to get around to getting it done. It is heavily wooded and full of blackberries...and snakes...and such.

When you add all that together...it seriously looks like a jungle!

LOL...I just read that and it makes it seem like we have a ton of land...not so. Just a half acre. I was really bummed about the size of the lot when we moved here. Our previous house had a full acre and the place before that was 40 acres...While this one is more manageable...I miss the feeling of seclusion...

Mr D is out on the hill pretending a stick is a large machete and is hacking away at part of our jungle! LOL! Followed by his trusty sidekick Mr Max the Wonder Dog... good thing he has never actually seen Indian Jones!

'(Who seriously needs to get back to work on our daily plans!)

Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in...

I would LOVE it if you could PM me with the info about the magnets... Those sound cute!

LOL at your jungle... We have the same issue - sort of - we have an area by our fence that has some tall weeds... The house next door just sold, and the new people just moved in... They brought with them a dog... So, now MM thinks he must play with said dog... Yup - he dug under the fence with the weeks as his cover... Weeds are now gone... Hopefully next time we can catch him in the act...

I hope Mr. D has good luck getting those weeds down. :)

Your room will be very festive. Maybe you csn find some window clings when it gets closer to christmas. I like the idea of christmas theme shirts, perfect for the family Christmas picture. I am planning on doing some t-shirts with the appliques on felt this year. Kind of a waste to modify a shirt they will only wear for a few hours. I did this with some of the shirts we had for our Universal trip and now I am reusing them for Disney. :) Plus it is way easier then hooping those shirts.

Our yard is crazy overgrown too. All this rain has setup a growth spurt. Last weekend when DH tried to pull out some long weeds he got stung by some bees or wasps he disturbed. So the weeds are still there and will probably be there for a while.

Well, Husband finally cut the grass yesterday (while I was at Ikea) and for a while I thought he was going to attack the weeds on the hill...so I left to go get Mr D from school. When I came home he was gone and the weeds were still very much in residence on the hill.

It wasn't until later that he told me he had gotten very dizzy with back cramps and some tightness in his chest...and things were spinning...so he decided to GET IN THE CAR AND DRIVE for a while to cool off!!!!!
Seriously? Knowing that both his grand fathers and his father died of heart attacks under the age of 60? My husband is about a hundred pounds overweight...sits in a police car for 12 hour shifts...and his last eeg showed signs of a 'heart episode'. And he gets in a car and drives???

His reasoning was he had a doctor's appointment last week and the doctor said everything was fine...of course, he was there for his twice annually check before they rewrite his blood pressure meds!

Mr D quit soon after I wrote about it...he has the same problem his dad does...great ideas, poor follow though! LOL!

Seems husband had decided to pay someone to come in and take down the weeds and spread the dirt...and I hit the roof! The guy was going to charge way too much (close to $500) and I can think of a few other things that we could spend any extra money on. Like the fact that we have had the wood flooring to replace the carpets in both kids room sitting in my garage for over 4 years? Mr D's room only needs the last 4 rows put in...been that way for said 4 years. Completely destroyed one bed...the bed was put along the wall with the missing boards. There was just enough uneveness to cause a problem...which Mr D exploited to cause the bed to have to go!

And I am embarrassed to tell you Miss B has had a plywood floor for over 3 years now...she took the carpet up herself so she could have the wood floor put in...and we still haven't gotten around to getting it done.

As you see, my husband is great for a bunch of things...but working on things around the house is NOT one of them!

I made it to Ikea yesterday and only bought what I went for. You have no idea how much of a feat that actually was! LOL! My two shelves are sitting in a box downstairs waiting for me to get them together. Being the geeky type person I am, I went on line to check the instructions on putting them together. Much easier than I thought it would be...however, I do have a couple of heavy pieces of furniture to move so they will have a home!

Hopefully I can get down there and work on them after Mr D goes to school. At the very least...my comic book boards came in and I should be able to start folding fabric.

I also need to get a second coat of paint on my 'counter tops" I am using a very high gloss yellow paint and it needs at least 48 hours to cure between coats. Two coats is supposed to give me a glass like finish...we'll see! LOL!

As you see, I am doing my best to keep busy...this trip is taking FOREVER to get here!

Your new sewing space sounds amazing! Which Ikea shelves did you end up getting? I have my eye on the 4x4 set (intuit?) - something like that... I cannot wait to see your area finished!

I have a few things I want to get for my sewing room before we start saving for our next trip... One of them is the Brother 770 that was offered to me - so I can finally start doing bigger fonts... And the other is the Ikea shelving... The totaly for both is a little less than $500... I hope to have that in the next month or two, so then I can start saving for Disney again. Endless cycle. LOL

WAY over did yesterday putting those shelves together!

I did the first one by myself...took about 2 and a half hours. I bruised both thumbs trying to use that stupid hex wrench. It was fairly easy to put together...just a little more work when you try to do it by yourself.

Husband saw me struggling with the second one and asked me why I didn't use his drill. While I had thought of it, there was only four actual bolts...the rest were pegs. I thought it was a little silly to use a drill for just those 4 things. So, after he tried to rig something up for me to get a better grip on the hex wrench...he put the first two bolts in for me. By the time I got to the last two bolts, he had his drill and put them in ...took him about 20 seconds for each... The whole thing went together in less than 15 minutes with him helping! LOL

Unfortunately, this morning I woke up to a horrible back ache and my legs are so sore you would have thought I spent 5 hours doing serious exercise with a drill Sergent.(which husband used to be by the way!)

I thought I'd show a picture of the way it looked yesterday when I quit...and yes,m it is the same picture I shared on Facebook. I never did get back down there after lunch.

Today will be spent much more leisurely...folding a ton of fabric! By the way, all the fabric in the pictures are just some of what was on my cutting table... I haven't even opened up the actual stash. (Husband told me he is going to have to get me a couple more so that I will have enough room for it all!)

I love how your space is coming along. It is going to look great when you are done.

Could you PM me the info for the door magnets? We are also going to be there the first week of December, and I would love to decorate our door!

I was thinking you would have those shelves filled in no time. :) They look great by the way. The counter top sounds really cool too and it will make a nice flat area for your room,

I hope your DH is feeling ok after his lawn cutting scare. It has been so hot and humid here so I am sure that was a factor. It must be hard for him to try and cut the grass when it is cool with his schedule.

I was reading your blog post the other day and I wanted to say thank you for sharing your story. I had tears in my eyes and I know it could not have been easy for you to write that post. Your outlook on life warmed my heart and I smiled hearing about the wonderful boy that Mr. D is today. Just wanted to send along a virtual hug. (((HUGS)))

I didn't know you had a blog. I love blogs. I miss my blog. Maybe I should restart it. I loved blogging and did it for over 5 years.

Hope your DH is doing better and I Love how the room is coming out.

Okay I read your blogpost and you made me cry. I could of written pieces of it. ((((HUGS))))

I got the Expedit from Ikea. I got the one with the 2 cubes by 4 cubes...the original plan has already changed a couple of times! LOL!

I will probably get a larger one and another one this size. We will be moving the quilting machine (it takes up valuable real estate by my beautiful windows!) and put two of the 2 x 4 shelves there and put a larger one on the back wall where one of the smaller ones is currently. Probably move some of my machines next to the window.

I love how your space is coming along. It is going to look great when you are done.

At this rate I wonder if I will ever really get finished...we keep coming up with more ways to make it better. My daughter has some great ideas. Wish I had asked her sooner!

Could you PM me the info for the door magnets? We are also going to be there the first week of December, and I would love to decorate our door!

Sent you a PM. You will love her stuff and prices!

Thanks. It took me a long time to get to the point when I could even talk about it, writing took even longer.

I blog on a non existent schedule...LOL. Very VERY random things I write about. I used to want to be a writer...I now realize it takes much more than just having an idea...you have to have talent as well!

Okay I read your blogpost and you made me cry. I could of written pieces of it. ((((HUGS))))

Thank you... I actually have not read it since I posted without editing. I knew if I re read it I would delete it.

My sewing space saga... All 200 comic book boards are filled...and I still have a ton of fabric left! We have started reorganizing some of the other stuff that is driving me crazy and right now it literally looks like a bomb went off!! I could not get the kids to bring me a garbage bag down, so we started a trash pile in the floor. That trash pile is way bigger than I would have ever thought I would get rid of. I am afraid to go back down because I think I would start to grab stuff out of the pile and keep it!

We spent right at 6 hours working down there...probably should have stopped a lot sooner. By the time I got upstairs my back was in spasms and I could barely move. At least I know it is from straining and not from the arthritis coming back into my spine, so I can deal! LOL...

Last night someone about 3 miles from my house decided to have a fireworks display. In GA they are illegal. (they should have figured it out when they had to go to a different state to purchase them!) The first few (about 50 or so) sounded more like gun fire than fireworks. Since husband was working I called him to ask if he knew of any fireworks going off any where...he said no...

Anyway, they got about 15 complaints from it last night from over 10 miles away...so when he went to check it out, he turned his tape recorder on... it did sound like gunfire. In fact he said if he was not able to see the glow in the sky he would have called it in as shots fired! At least I was vindicated!

On the trip front...

I ordered some packing cubes the other day. They came in on Friday...I am in love! I want to start packing right now! I already see myself stalking the Ebags site looking for another good coupon or sale to get some more! Those things are amazing! (I got these with a 40% off coupon and free shipping...I figured I couldn't go wrong!)

I used the trick I use when buying fabric at fabric dot com...I put things in my shopping cart and never finish the purchase...within hours I get various coupons on what I have sitting there ...I wait for a really good one then pounce! Yup...C H E A P!!!!
