2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival *HAS ENDED*

I think we'd like to do the PFTS...but now to decide whether its worth the extra money for the wine view or if reserved seating is good enough. I really like the idea of having a spot to sit.... I have never been to the festival before or PTFS, but if its anything like similar events I have gone too if its not assigned some people will hog/save/aggressively refuse to share.

AMEN! This is why I took a few years off. Got tired of the "Rude" who "owned" those tables.

(And for the party I went to Disney "suits" did explain to the "rude" that "you have to share the tables' but who wants to go deal with "I'ma Jerk" as your table mate? )

I am only going if I can get a reserved table. Was going to risk it last year without one but.. then they wouldn't sell me a ticket.

I will be going solo so I don't have anyone to "defend" my space LOL!

we are going with a group of four, so i guess we can take turns at the table. I also am not picky and would have no problem stealing extra chairs and not sitting at a table if I needed to?

We honestly had no problems at all finding a table last year, however some people really like having a designated home base so I think that the reserved tables will appeal to them. The one thing I didn't like about the wine view lounge was that each group appeared to have their own table, we are social people and really enjoyed interacting with other guests.

this sounds like a wonderful addition to our adult only trip ! now to convince DBF , anyone else planning for the party on the 13th ? maybe we can plan a little DISmeet inside and stake out our own tables ....

If we do PFTS it will be on the 13th, still trying to decide whether to do the Swolphin F&W Classic for two nights or just Friday and PFTS on Sat.

Mine is the 20th. Haven't decided what to do about getting the reserved seating or general admission. I won't pay for Wine View.

I agree won't pay for wine view but will probably be getting the reserve seating.

HI ;)
Can't wait for October! Does anyone know how long the concerts usually last? Not sure my dining ADR times are going to work out! Which concert time is the least crowded? thanks everyone!

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they are about 45 minutes long, no longer than an hour

If I remember, the Eat to the Beat concerts are about 20 minutes; three sets a night.

Like Good, I remember more like 45 minutes, not a lot of time between concerts. Get people out and get the new ones in.

they're actually about 35-45 minutes. some go the full 45 minutes, others may be a little shorter.

does anyone know when the PFTS themes and tickets will be out ?

I was just coming to ask the same question. I had no idea, until reading a review, that they did different themes each week. This is going to be critical to my decision of whether or not to go. I try to be adventurous in what I try, but I do know that if it was themed with something like Indian food, I'd have a much harder time.

Thanks!

Edited to add: In doing some more research, it looks like perhaps they stopped doing individual themes each week? I hope this is the case :)

PFTS had themes only once, in 2009. It didn't go over well and they haven't done it since.

For the Festival Center seminars only. Not for the events.

Can you explain the difference? We're possibly intered in seeing the Cake Boss but only if it's for all ages. I don't the difference between an event and a seminar.

Sat down with DBF last night and figured out a way to fit one of the Italian regional lunches into our October plans! :woohoo: I'll take any and all pixie dust anyone wants to send my way to help me nab one of those slots at 7 a.m. on August 14! Only 75 days left until my trip. :dance3:

An event is one of the larger parts of the festival, for example Buddy appeared last year at one of the Sweet Sundays, a brunch with several dessert preparation demonstrations. Cost last year was $80 per person.
There are also seminars during the day when a chef will prepare one dish, I think they are in the $12 range and Buddy did do one of those last year also. As far as bringing kids I am of no help, we leave ours home for Food and Wine.
