2012? Do you believe it?

The Mayan civilization predicted that on December 21st 2012 the world will end. Do you believe it? If so does it change the way you live your life, and why? If not why?

Well I am a sophomore this year. This means we graduate in 2012. As a class, we decided that the world won't be able to handle us so it will just blow up or something. lol. I don't care if I die. I don't even know if I will live that long so you just gotta be ready to go every day. Live life with no regrets.

The plot of the movie coming out has nothing to do with the conspiracy theories about the world ending, it's just going to be a visual experience... Something about the Earth's crust collapsing into the core or something? How is that even possible...

Whether you believe in this Mayan end of the world theory, or in any religion for that matter, your day to day behavior shouldn't be dictated by such things. Follow the golden rule, no matter what.

Nah.
I mean I feel completely safe not believing in things. I'm going to die at some point, and the human race is not going to exist forever. So if 2012 is the year, or the JW start talking a different year for the aramageddon, I'm not going to believe them or let it control my life.
My time will come, and I don't think there's much I can do to prevent the fact that we all die.

Not really, but it makes you more aware of how much you get out of your life day to day.
Same thing happened in 2000 with the Y2K? I believe, and nothing happened.

I read this article that talked about a Mayan elder traveling to Europe and he was constantly asked this and got tired of it. Supposably they never predicted that and most people got the theory from a pyramid (I believe) that's down in Texas or Mexico that talks about the year 2012 and the god of war.

I had a major panic attack when I first heard about it last fall though, I've gotten over it.

And if it happens, oh well. I'm not gonna care when I'm dead and I'm not going to let it bother me the rest of my life.

Nope. Unless something MAJOR happens in the next 2 years and some odd months, I highly doubt the world will end. But if it does, somehow or another, I'd be pretty bummed, lol.

Well when I took Astronomy last year my teacher told us that sometime in 2012 all the planets will be aligned and it will create a very strong gravity...I dont know what to believe because he used to joke around with us about stupid stuff a lot. But I live my life to how I want it to so Im ok...I just dont want my death to be painful.
