2012 Cruise Dates

I would have expected cruises over Thanksgiving to be more money. They aren't more as some other peak times?

I know - I was surprised as well. The 4 nighter that leaves ON Thanksgiving day is outrageous, but the 7 nighter that runs the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving wasn't nearly as high as summer trips. We cruised last Thanksgiving, and with the 10% onboard discount, we paid $4,500 for 4 people in an outside cabin (deck 2). This summer, the 5 night Bahamas cruises cost more than what we paid for an entire week over Thanksgiving.

For some reason the prices for this year's Thanksgiving trip (2010) are higher than last year, but I noticed that next Thanksgiving (2011), the prices go back down (maybe cause of Dream competition). Its definitely worth looking into.

One side note - there is no category 12 pricing showing up for this year's T-giving trip. I'll bet my right arm that in the next few weeks a category 12 discounted price will appear. That can be a VERY cheap way to go if you aren't picky about inside vs outside rooms.

Also, I noticed yesterday that the 11 night Southern Carib Holiday cruise (Dec 18) has a hugely discounted cat 12 rate. Four of us could go for $5,200. Now THATS a deal!

I dont think the Holiday 10/11/12 are doing as well as DCL hoped. They changed one of the 10s, to 2 5s, about 3 months after they advertised, supposedly due to low bookings.

Interesting. Holiday cruises are so expensive, and many people want to be home at that time. I would LOVE to do this cruise (esp with the sale pricing), but my 13 year old son wants to be at home which I can understand. I'm hoping for some longer trips like this when the 2012 itineraries come out.

Yes. Disney at least in the past, has kept the Magic doing the 7s during the winter and sent her to Europe or the west coast during the summer. At least 1 of the new ships will do the 7s, and its not out of the realm of impossibilities that the Magic may still be there doing longer or a different 7 day itinerary like canal trips or different carribean ports, then what is offered now.

So, at this point, it's probably safe to assume we will still be able to cruise with DCL on a 7 night Carribean cruise in January 2012 (what we are planning). It's just not clear what ship we will sail on? I really don't care which ship, as long as I am sailing when we can go ;)

I am sooo hoping for a 7 day Eastern in June 2012. We are on the 5 day Dream for 2011, but we want to switch to the other if it is offered. Fingers crossed!

Although no one knows anything for sure at this point, I think it's a fairly safe bet that the Magic will be doing 7 night cruises in the first part of 2012. Fantasy is due, I believe, in June, and the betting money is that the Wonder will be on the West Coast and the Dream will be sticking with the 3/4 nights. I think you should definitely feel confident that there will be 7 night Caribbean cruises in the winter of 2012.

Anyone have an idea when DCL will open bookings for 2012? I know that haven't announced when/where the fantasy is coming/going but do you think they will wait to release bookings for the magic, dream and wonder till then?

We're all still waiting. Historically this info is released in October. :thumbsup2

When is it expected that Disney Cruise Line will release 2012 cruises?
With the second new ship in operation by then what ships and cruise types are expected to be departing from Port Canaveral in the later part of 2012?
Any information would be appreciated.

I've merged the 3 threads that were all started in the past week asking about 2012 dates into 1 thread.

I've also merged another thread that was started today on this same topic.

Not sure I would call it "historically" but maybe would say "lately". In 2007 they released the itinerary announcements in January for 2008 & started the actual bookings in mid-February. We were waiting for the DVC charts b4 we booked so we waited until the first week or so in March before we actually booked & I wanted one of the SPH rooms so I was watching availability every day. I was really peeved with DVC for not having the charts ready. We then booked for July 2008 in early March 2007, 16 months out. In 2004 they started selling their first MR cruises in May for the summer of 2005. (We booked at 11 months out for July 2005.)

I really don't know if we can count on a "pattern" or not... They may want to wait until they know more about the completion date for the Fantasy before they release anything.:confused3

I just wish it would hurry up. We are planning our first DCL trip for 2012. We had 2 big vacations this year (cruise on Carnival and trip to WDW) so we will wait until 2012 to take another big vacation. The problem is I love to plan trips and I can't plan because I don't know where we are going until Disney releases the information. :lmao:

Hello; I am wondering if there is any info out there for the 2012 cruises on the dream. Trying to do some long term planning and wondering if the 2012 information will be out soon.

Also, do they annouce the sailings at the same time they start taking ressies? If so I want to be on the phones.

Any and all help is appreciated.

There is nothing definite yet on the 2012 sailings, but the odds are that the Dream will continue to do the 3 and 4 night cruises with either the Magic or Fantasy (if it is in service by then) doing the 7 night itineraries.

The last few times they released the schedule, they didn't start taking reservations until a few days (couple of weeks, maybe?) later.

If they follow their usual pattern, they should release at least part of the 2012 schedule by sometime this coming November.

On our recent sailing the captain said that the Fantasy will have it's inaugural sailing "15 months after the Dream."

Expect 2012 info sometime about late October or November 2010 based on previous years.

I booked our June 2011 Med cruise on the Magic on Sept. 28, 2009. That was the first day I could book in my Castaway Club category (not the highest by any means). The 2011 schedule had been released at least a week or two before that date. Unless that was unusual, I would expect the 2012 itineraries to be out in Sept. 2010, not Oct. or as late as Nov.

CAN'T:jumping3:
WAIT:jumping3:

It's makin' me nuts!!!! I want to see those 2012 itineraries SO BAD:eek:

ok now I feel a bit better - thanks :cutie:

That was the earliest they have been released. The Dream cruises weren't available to book until November.

I hope they come out with the dates for Dream soon. I want to book my DD 16th birthday in Oct of 2012. This is going to be huge for her. I cant wait to plan all this with the other family members. :woohoo:
