Thanks for all the Artist Point reviews and photos! Really looking forward to our ADR in January.

I can't wait to hear how you like Sanaa. It didn't make the cut for this trip since we had already decided on Jiko, but it's definitely a place I'd like to try in the future.

I LOVE Sanaa - really great menu and wonderful atmosphere. (And I'm not even an animal fan - just like the decor and the large windows.) But if I had to choose between Sanaa and Jiko, I'd definitely choose Jiko - the whole atmosphere of the AKL lobby, the Jiko menu, etc. Great choice!

I think I spent the most time on dining. Because this trip is a big deal for us, and our first (and maybe only) do stay in a Deluxe, we decided that we'd go all out and make it all about the NEW. So we only wanted to dine at places we had never been. Sadly, there are a lot of those. For months, I scoured menus and read reviews and made lists for dining. But once I made our ADR's, we stuck with them. We are still very excited about all the places on the list and thrilled that there are even more we can hopefully try next time around.

Off-Topic (because that's so unusual, I know)...

Anyone done the Characters in Flight at DTD? It just caught our attention as something we might like to do. I never thought about it because hubby isn't a big fan of heights, but then he reminded me that it's really ladders he doesn't like and he thinks this would be fun. So now we're considering it.

Last I heard, the company who designed the hot air balloon grounded all of their balloons. When we were at DTD in July, it wasn't there. I am not sure if it is back in operation or not.

My husband and two of our kids rode in it several years ago and LOVED it as did my mother-in-law. Our oldest child decided she didn't want to do it so I stayed back. The pictures my husband took were awesome!

I haven't been on the balloon ride, but there is information if you follow this link

My bad......the Characters in Flight is re-opened with a new balloon. I am not upon my Disney info.....I didn't see the application notice for the Disney Moms Panel either and now it's too late!

The balloon re-opened earlier in October. My kids and husband highly recommend it! :-)

Ok folks, I have posted in the CL section on page 1 that the Beach Club Concierge Lounge is open 24 hours a day (with brief closings for cleaning and replenishment) on a trial basis.

A few questions for you night owls who have been to the resort recently and stayed at club level.

Is the BC lounge still open 24 hours/day. It has been reported that the selection of drinks was very limited in the wee hours of the morning.

Is (Was) the Yacht Club part of the trial as well- anyone know if that lounge is open all the time too?

Thanks, friends!

I was in DTD this past Tuesday and it was back in action! Looks fun!

It was flying high yesterday afternoon.

I just got back from BC CL on the 13th. The lounge is still open 24 hours. It was open when we got back from MNSSHP around midnight. I'm not positive on the drinks, but I think it's just coke, diet coke, ginger ale, and coffee that is available. There were some light snacks out (yogurt pretzels, trail mix, and Swedish fish).

Thank you! Yes, I knew it had been closed but reopened. A friend's sister just did it this week and that's how we got to talking about it. Hubby said it looked like fun and I started thinking about the great pictures I could get with my new camera from there.

Anyone know about the Yacht Club?

The YC lounge was open 24 hours (except as noted for cleaning, restocking and changing the food offerings) when we were there at the end of August. The same items listed above for the BC were available after 10:00pm.

Hi everyone , Thank you so much for all the info on the Beach club and around the area . We are staying at the Beach club next thursday for 2 weeks :yay:
We live in England and this will be the first time onsite, so very excited to have found this thread and all the information on here from all you professionals !!!
I am just about organised with my Adrs and been juggling to cram everything in ! Our son is 10 and really looking forward to Stormalong Bay. it was his choice to stay here . I would love to see what pool activities are on while we are there so can anyone help me on that ??
Hopefully we will see many of you out there. Looking forward to some sunshine on our backs after the long drab summer we have had here !! Thanks everyone xxxx

Hi there, we're staying at Yacht Club from a week Tuesday (30th) for two weeks and also have a ten year old son (plus an older son and younger daughter). We too are traveling from England (Cumbria) and are seriously craving some sunshine! :cool2:

The pool activities sheet for October (and previous months) can be found on the first page of this thread. Perhaps we'll find one another floating around SAB? pirate:

Thanks for the reply, I think it might be worth me putting a patio request in as well. So long as we always remember to lock the doors to the patio when we go out, hopefully we'll be ok security wise.

The request for the day bed is because my teenage son don't want to share a bed with anyone, (fair enough as it would be me, my husband or my teenage daughter). I haven't told him that there's a possibility of a day bed, if we don't get one I may end up buying a blow up bed for the week.:)

I would put my requests in order of importance. For us it was getting a full balcony, so that was my only request.
Personally I don't like ground floor, even if there isn't a lot of foot traffic, I'd feel like I have to have my drapes closed all the time.

Clarabel, We also live in Cumbria !!! Just below Kendal and it did make me chuckle when you put Cumbria on your post !, so Im sure we will see you all in stormalong Bay floating around !!!! Roll on sunshine as us northern England folk havent seen sun all year :rotfl:

Does anyone here know if Stormalong Bay will be undergoing repairs/maintenance the week of Feb 3 - 11th?
Last year during our stay (early Jan) they were doing repairs & many parts of the pool were sectioned off.
Thanks!

I haven't heard dates yet. Typically SAB will undergo renovations in January and February. One Third of the pool will be shut down at a time, but the rest will remain open. Then they move on to the next section. So Two Thirds of the pool are always scheduled to be operational.

At this time next week, we'll be on the plane making our way to YC!

As I sit here at WL I wanted to share my DH's comments from last night. He is so unimpressed with WL (except the lobby if course), he says I spoiled him with YC last month. Even though there is wood everywhere here he misses the deep cherrywood of YC, lol! Even the kids tell me how yeah they like WL but like YC better!

Guess after we try CR we will be returning to YC :) There was something truly magical about YC that we just aren't getting at WL.
