I'm sure this has been asked and answered a billion times but I can't seem to find it.....how long does the boat from YC take to get to HS in the a.m.? I saw at the front of thread that it goes YC to Swan/Dolphin to HS but looking for estimated time to plan for RD arrival. Thanks!!

15 minutes or so, more or less. But pad that, since you have to give it time to arrive.

We were lucky; we timed it exactly right and saw it approach as we walked up the pier.

perfect thank you! I will pad it but needed a general idea :) Be there Friday!!

[QUOTE=RobinHoodGirl - I'm already planning on having a post with pictures of what a room with a King is like since right now it's been like searching for the Holy Grail

Good luck. It has been said that getting the room with the king bed IS the holy grail!

Had Breakfast at Captain's Grill and it was fantastic. I highly recommend:)
What did you have? I'm trying to decide between Captain Grill and Kouzzina for breakfast on one of the days.

Apparently our dog went on a hunger/water strike while we were gone. She spent a couple nights at the doggy hospital getting IV fluids.
Oh no, how sad! I'm glad she's better now.

I thought I could make it better by booking a BB offer and was told by the CM that there is no current BB offer!!

Did you call the bb line (I think it's extension 8844). If so, that sucks! Usually there is a room-only BB for later the same year or FD for end of Aug - Sept of the following year.

Hope someone can help me with this question, we're onsite and dining plan newbies :) - if I use a quick service meal credit for lunch at the BC Marketplace is my drink credit only good for a fountain soda or can I have one of the bottled drinks from the fridge section?

TIA

Andona

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

You can have a non-alcoholic drink from the fridge section - milk, juice, fancy sports drink, vitamin water, soda, etc. Enjoy!

1) Hurricane Hannah's will be closing soon. Reports on the date vary so it's not set in stone yet. We just have to wait and see.

2) There will be servers running around taking drink orders at the pool while HH is closed.

3) The hotel will make as yet undisclosed food accommodations for guests at the pool. Food will definitely be available but no information has been released as to where or what.

4) Since we haven't heard what they are doing for food we don't know if the buckets that they serve the kids meals in will be available.

Stay tuned for further details as our intrepid spies and neopreen wearing "SUPER GROUPIES" troll for more information.

EDIT!!!! Here is Info stolen from some chick, I think her name is BeechClub Deee

It sounds like the closing will happen towards the end of the month, not next week. Not sure of the exact date, but I think the last week in August, when guest attendance starts to slow down.

The inital plan is to offer packaged sandwiches to go near or in the arcade, hotdogs, drinks and other treats near Beaches and Cream and a Pool Bar with drinks sold at Poolside Gifts. There will still be wait service at the pool.

It will be a very extensive rehab, and I think the December end-date is accurate.

End of stolen quote!

~NM

Thanks to both of you! We are on the dining plan (the DxDP) so I hope we can use credits for drinks and 'meals' from the pool area/waitress.

I have sat down and started typing so many times over the past 3 days, but never got to finish, so finally trying to catch up a bit. Life gets way to hectic sometimes. But we did relax a bit this weekend at my parents and lounged by the pool when it wasn't raining ;)

Hello to all the new comers and to everyone else posting recently :wave2:

I think his choice probably makes sense.

The BC is a bit more noisy than the YC-- there seem to be more kids around, more noise, more stimuli. The YC seems a bit less intense. So I would probably agree that YC makes a little more sense for your son.

As to our choice, I have to admit that part of it was laziness-- walking 10 or 12 miles a day in the parks, I wanted the resort that was closer to Epcot.

For whatever reason he really did like the color scheme of the YC, and now that I have been reading I think you are right, the calmer resort is the better choice for us.

Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker here at Disboards and on the YC/BC threads. I joined not too long ago to ask a question but now I'd like to join in on the conversation!

First, I'd like to say that this thread is wonderful and has helped me out immensely! You all are a very friendly, very helpful, and a very funny bunch!

I will be taking my beautiful fiancée as my bride on August 19th and we will be flying to Disney right after. We're staying in a standard water/lagoon view room at the YC until the 25th. 10 days to go!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!! Wishing you all the best for the wedding and honeymoon! Hopefully our crazy Florida weather will treat you right!

29 days today until our week at BC GV...I think. I've changed our ADRs about as many times as I can feasibly do...Now what to do to occupy myself for this last month?? :confused3:rolleyes1

I find myself in this situation with every vacation! That is when I end up second guessing myself and making changes. DH says says the only thing I have OCD about is vacation planing ;) Just keep reading the boards and counting down the days.

We're arriving on the 8th also. Even though we're from Cincinnati, my 13 yr old son is a HUGE Patriots fan. I'll tell him to pack his Wes Welker shirt to walk around the resort in. :thumbsup2

LOVE a fellow Pats Fan!!! DS and I wore our Brady jerseys on our last trip to NY, during the playoffs against the Jets, DH thought we were crazy and going to get shot :lmao: We get into the YC on the 15th, if you are still there I will be looking for the Welker shirt for sure! My good friends were having dinner in Boston one night and noticed that Wes was at the bar and got a ton of pictures and had a few rounds with him, said he was soooo nice!

Two weeks to go- is it too early to start packing?! :cool1:

I've got my suitcases staged near my computer. Perhaps I'll pull up some parks music on D-Cot and start soft-packing. I'm trying packing cubes this time, after reading awesome reviews on how they help keep things super-organized. Have any of you used them?

We took a quick trip this weekend, and I have decided to leave the toiletries packed and suitcases out. Love knowing that we will be using them again soon. I have not used the packing cubes, but saw a lot of great reviews on them when we cruised.

77 days. I feel like I should be doing something to prepare, but I have no idea what I should be doing.

I am going to take advantage of the Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday today to go buy a new camera to take on our trip. And since I just got a raise and a bonus today, I can get what I want instead of scrimping. YAY!

Congrats on the raise and bonus :thumbsup2 I hope you got the camera you wanted!

No need to worry about buckets. There are hundreds of them lying around for anyone to use. They keep a stack of them by the lifeguard station. HH is still open as of today.

Great to know! I was going to throw a couple in my bags for the kids, but would much rather not have to deal with the sand.

Okay, going to see what else I missed on the boards over the weekend. Hope everyone is having a great evening!

Melissa

What did you have? I'm trying to decide between Captain Grill and Kouzzina for breakfast on one of the days.

Oh no, how sad! I'm glad she's better now.

We both had the buffet which was awesome. There was some pancakes, mickey waffles, the best french toast, eggs, eggs with cheese, yogurt , fresh fruit, granola, oatmeal, grits, bacon, sausage, turkey sausage, bread pudding:thumbsup2, cold cereal selection, bagels which all the fixings, muffins, pastries, banana bread, YUM

My dog is much better now. Not running around, but has her personality back:dog2:

Did I read somewhere that you can get omelettes made to order with the Captain's Grille breakfast buffet?

Thanks for all the information on the villas. Can you still get room service in the villas? Also how long would you say the walk is from the villas to SAB? Thanks again!

I looked at FAQs and I didn't see the answer, although I'm pretty sure I've seen pics that I can't find anymore ....

Are the washing machines front-load or top-load??:laundy:

Starting my packing and want to pack a couple of laundry soap packets for mid-trip. (I have a lot of laundry soap samples that I signed up for over the past year - never pass these up - they're great for traveling!!)

Got to wake up at 6:40 am to get my SWA boarding pass!!!!

And that's the only time I'll be excited for such an early wake-up outside of WDW.

Front Load.

Here's the Laundry Post- it is in Post 6 (Resort Ameneties):

Laundry Information :laundy:

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

Washers are front loaders. According to repairmen working on disabled washers, HE (High Efficiency) detergent should be used in the machines. Laundry detergent is available for purchase in the laundry room ($1) or at the Beach Club Marketplace ($2). Don't forget to pack a few dryer sheets.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

Thank you bellebookworm9 for the BCV laundry room photos!

Just checked in for our 6:30am SW flight tomorrow. I will never figure out the early bird check in. I had purchased it for two of us on the day I booked which was the first day the flights opened up. Then two months ago I purchased it for the other 6. Well the 6 got A33+, and the 2 got A51 and A52. :confused3
Not complaining... Actually thrilled that most of us get on sooner, but it's weird. I also checked in another family of 3 who did not purchase EBCI and they got B6 7 8. Not bad!
I wanted to say Thank You to everyone on this thread. Everyone has been so helpful and knowledgable. I am sure our first BC stay will be fabulous. I will try to post mini updates when I can. If anyone has questions while we are there please let me know. I'd love to "pay it forward.". :thumbsup2
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! :woohoo::yay::cool1::dance3:

Only 12 days now until my stay at YC - can't wait! I really think I will love being able to walk to either DHS or Epcot. I've always rented a car in past visits but this time opted to use DME and then buses for when I go to MK or AK.

I believe that the assignments also have to do with how often you fly with SW. So if someone in that group of 6 traveled more in the last year or most recently on SW then the two people you booked first, the second group gets a better number. That's what was explained to me before.

Also I believe members of the Frequent Flier program get some priority in assignments too.

Did you call the bb line (I think it's extension 8844). If so, that sucks! Usually there is a room-only BB for later the same year or FD for end of Aug - Sept of the following year.

I did call the bb line. I even had the number stored in my notes in case there wasn't a card in my room (which there wasn't one). I was very disappointed. I even asked again to be sure I didn't misunderstand and she told me there were no valid bb offers at the time. The last one expired July 31. We will still be going but now I am back to having to stand discount watch hoping something comes out for the dates we just booked.:(

Glad to hear your puppy is feeling better! I'm sure she will be up and running in no time.:thumbsup2

Hmmmm, not sure. But, my sister in law and I were the last to fly SW and we are the ones with the later boarding position. :confused3 wacky system. LOL!
