2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We are club, lagoon view. Down 2 long hallways to our room & only 2 from the end. It is very quiet which we prefer. When you're this far away, not that many people walk past your room! We don't go back & forth to the lounge much, so it really doesn't bother us much.

We haven't been impressed with the lounge offerings this trip. Nothing really appealing to us. Raspberry & Brie croquets, crab rangoons, bacon wrapped scallops. Lounge not busy when we've been there. Always a seat available. Parks busy & no rain today!! Stormalong Bay was great as always. Busy but not crowded at all. Downtown Disney was nuts!! Wall to wall people. Wanted a Doundy' Bourke purse but couldn't find the 1 I wanted. Oh well. Maybe next time!

We were all the way at the end of the hallway last time at the BC CL -- I agree that it was quiet plus we had a really nice view of SAB and the lake.

Sorry you aren't happy with the food offerings -- we'll be there in a couple of weeks and I was hoping it was better than I've been hearing. (We are coming from AKL CL, where we have loved the food and the espresso machine, so the YC food may be a disappointment...) Nice to hear that there's always seating in the lounge, though.

Just goes to show you, everyone has different likes and dislikes. Raspberry & Brie croquets, crab rangoons, bacon wrapped scallops....all sound like things I would love to put on my plate.

Never fear! Just take that caramel pecan bar to go and store it in your room for later. It doesn't require refrigeration, but it CAN get stuck to the wrapping on top. Don't worry - if you stick it in the fridge, the wrapping will peel right off and you can enjoy it - either cold or room temp. As you can tell, I've given this a lot of thought - probably even more thought than the whole grey goose slushie in the refill mug deal! I have more to say about care and transportation of caramel pecan bars, but I really should stop . . .

I am a Carmel Pecan "enabler" so I will contribute to this decadent conversation by mentioning that on our last trip I brought ziplock bags and placed several CP bars in them. I then carefully hid these zip locked sweeties in my checked baggage for the trip home. Although I declined extra insurance in case of theft of said CP bars, I was fortunate enough to have them arrive home safely.

The task then became to hide them from the prying eyes and gnashing teeth of my family. Luck was on my side as I got to the suitcase in question first and promptly hid the CP bars where no one in my family would ever look, which was the vegetable crisper drawer in the fridge!

On our next trip I plan on bringing my beloved CP bars home in little plastic food storage tubs. The sandwich size should do it and it should hopefully help with the zip lock bag CP bar 'shape shift' that mysteriously occurs when they are crammed into a suitcase.

Those are my dates! Look for the short, alcohol-deprived gal surrounded by 8 teenaged boys who tower over me, one in particular who will be doing everything he can to pretend doesn't know me.

If I were you I would get a T-shirt printed up with his picture on it and some snappy saying like Attention Girls! Hands off, he's still mine!

We are leaving tomorrow - I can't believe it is almost here! Our clothes are mostly packed, but I still need to deal with the carry-ons (snacks and activities for the kids, etc). Our flight doesn't leave until 2 so we're sending the kids to school for the morning and will pick them up on the way to the airport. That will give me time to get the packing done and then I won't be fighting to get them ready and out of the house (herding cats anyone?). I'm thinking they'll run right of school!

Safe travels to everyone headed to the world this weekend and have a magical trip! We should be at the BC by 6 pm! :goodvibes

Based on pixarmom's obsession with the caramel pecan bars, I am determined to check out the Karamell Kuche shop in a couple of weeks during my trip with the teens. I have even come up with the title of my TR chapter for this escapade...

"Braces be D*mned, We're Going to Germany!!!"

Yay - it's a CP bar mission! And I love the TR chapter title! Good thing you don't live closer to me, or I would be asking you to bring some back for me. I'm serious.

No way - that's almost exactly what I do!!! I wrap them up in the ziplock bags (the ones that are slightly larger than sandwich, but smaller than storage), but then I bring them in my carry-on. But I still have the shape-shifting issue that you mentioned, so I really like your plastic storage tub idea. During one of our trips last year, as we were getting off the plane, I realized I was missing one of my ziplocked CP bars. I tried to turn around and get back on the plane, and something about FAA rules prevented my rescue mission. Darn! Fortunately, the flight attendant agreed to search the overhead bin and emerged with . . . my missing ziplocked CP bar! Yay!

OK, now I sound entirely crazy. But I'm feeling much better knowing I'm not alone!!!

I'm with you - I love the crab rangoons and bacon wrapped scallops!

Dee - I can't wait to see your pictures when you return. Just the thought of your description of you and the kids makes me laugh. Unfortunately since I have 13 and 14 year old girls I know all too well the - wanting to look as if they don't belong with you feeling!

Safe travels and magical trips to all who are on the their way to Disney!

Personal bragging - I'm dieting my way to Disney (so I can eat everything there!) with nutri system. Today is day 21 and I've lost 71/2 lbs!!!!

Those grand marnier slushies, sunken treasures and the caramel shop are calling my name!!!!

You going to NEED a caramel pecan bar after seeing everyone strolling around drinking "slushies"!!!

:rotfl2: Love that!!! I could hide ANYTHING in ANY suitcase and NOONE would ever see them................because as soon as we arrive home, Magically NOONE is around to unpack them!!!!

The T-Shirt idea for DEE is Awesome....would LOVE to see him roll his eyes if she made him put it on!!!

:thumbsup2 Congrats! Great job on the 7 1/2 lbs, keep up the Hard Work!!

I am thinking of surprising my family with either the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage or Seas Aqua Tour (snorkeling in the tank at the Seas). My daughter is 9, a great swimmer, and pretty adventurous. Has anyone done these? Can you tell me what they are like?

Also is there a boat cruise you can do from the beach club and watch Illuminations? I can't find it on the Disney site.

Thanks

A

Are they toying with me?

You all know my disappointment when the Captain's Grille stopped serving the key lime pie. Well the updated All Ears Menu (5/12) is listing the key lime pie again but the wdw.com site is not.

Once again - if anyone is going soon could you just check the Capt's Grille menu for me? Thank you so much!!!!
